I'm actually an expert in the Gem field your small dark stones even the speckled ones look gem quality. When you were searching all the colors are likely sapphire or corundum it's just ruby when it's red sapphire when it's blue but it can be every color in the rainbow. Research hardness tests to determine and identify what a gemstone really is.

Another top video Levi, thank you. Looked, cold mate. You are having a cold wet winter down there. Not sure if a UV lamp would help. They show up opals I have never seen them on the gem fields. I have often been to Saphire and Rubyvale. Way back in the 1960s till the 8o's. A torch is required to look for flaws mate. You need light-coloured sapphires they always cut much darker.

Use a UV lens over your flashlight. If you are having trouble finding a good waterproof torch you can always just tape the filters over the end. We use a UV reactive dye in automotive air conditioning systems to diagnose leaks, and a lot of us mechanics have lenses we hold over our regular flashlights when searching for the dye

In case you're curious: raw topaz = $8 a carat for clear, $1000 a carat for orange. my source is saying that sapphires = $120-220 per carat, up to $11k per carat depending on quality, dark blues being especially sought after. This parcel seems like I would be worth a decent amount of money.
@ZE0XE0
@ZE0XE0 Жыл бұрын
where i live the most valuable sapphires are usually the purples, lavenders, and pinks. The green are the least valuable and the blues are sort of in between.

Beautiful sapphire and topaz Levi. And I love the color of those orange red zircons. Magical wilderness. Would like to see you do a topaz sniping trip to Flinders Island sometime. There has been many large topaz from golf ball to occasionally tennis balls size stones dredged out of the north end of killiecrankie bay in past decades...some a beautiful blue colour. I believe there would still be many laying in Rock cervices on the seafloor. I recall as a kid in the 1980's seeing photos of exceptionally large gem quality topaz in the gem and treasure magazine from that Bay. Keep up the great work Mate 👍

Great work on the sapphires and the 100k followers Levi!! The 2.1ct pale blue looks like it is definetly worthy of cutting! The others seem like they may not be transparent? The green stone, could definetly be a sapphire.. or if it's the weld there is chrysoberyl which is pretty rare! A 5 karat cut sapphire with no defects is worth about $800 USD. Maybe you should get into cutting and jewelling. What would be really cool is if you made and sold gold rings featuring a sapphire as the top centerpiece, ringed by small nuggets from your sniping. I love that jewelry that incorporates natural nuggets. Hey if I were rich I would definitely be first in line to buy from you. Love your channel, there is absolutely nothing bogus about you.

Anything is cuttable, think of the tiny stones in rings, around the main or whatever. Is it worth it? That's a different story. Depends on your cutter. You could get a wheel, and make them into cabachons yourself. Good skill to pick up for opal. Jasper, etc, any stone though. peace

Levi -- A UV light works only in the dark. It makes certain gem stones flouresce (sp), so the bulbs are kinda useless in the daytime. Also, some gems have different levels of flourescence, to include not at all. The lights are kinda neat, but not necessarily the end all in reliability.

Take a sapphire to your bank and ask the teller to check if it glows under their UV light. I'm pretty sure they don't. Buying UV lamps is hard to do. there are two light frequencies with UV light. the one you want is hard to get. I have seen them used finding SWheeerlite ore. UV can affect your eyes.
