Combining blistering necrosis with volatile impact mixture is my personal favorite. Basically the blisters allow the gupe to hit twice if not three or more times if you get lucky with the blisters and it just does ridiculous damage. Especially towards oppressors

One thing I love about it's design is how it plays into the "open to the imagination" humor that's so iconic to DRG. What exactly *is* the Goop(tm)? Was it manufactured, or was it sourced from a clogged pipe somewhere? The fact that it needs to be stirred regularly too - at some point, Driller has to probably clean out that web of pipes and tanks to ensure nowhere gets clogged by solidified ooze. It's so open to interpretation, fan theories, and in-jokes that can sometimes really help bring a team together. DRG does that with almost all of its weapons, it's fantastic. ... I also love that there's unique lines if you ping the Goop(tm) with your laser pointer. Apparently "Five second rule!" is a particularly rare one...

@@thetute59 you need the burning nightmare mod in t5 also whether you take faster projectile in t2 or not does affect that as well, since the projectile stays close to the puddle for less time, also the same thing applies to firing dirrectly at the puddles instead of flying right by/over them

I love the clean damage over time overclock andmgoing for max dot damage and fragments. Literally melting swarms is so fun. Doing a charged shot will make tunneling away from a swarm so much safer.

sludge pump is definitely really fun weapon to mess around with though I always somehow hit one of my teammates(usually a scout) with a charged shot every time I equip it. It's like I know where exactly they will grapple to and I shoot both them and the bugs. I think its some weird technology that drg equipped the sludge pump with.

Sludge Pump is my favorite weapon in the game entirely. Always nice to see a youtuber who praises it. My only problem is I wish the frameworks altered the gun a bit more, most of the time they don't reshape it much, and it'd be appreciated to see it vary a bit more wildly. Like have the cement mixer part of it change shape instead of just, changing the things around it.

Combining Hydrogen Ion Additive on the sludge pump with Gamma Contamination and tier 5 neurotoxin makes one of the most hyper lethal DoT builds I've seen in a game. Works wonders on haz 5.

You can easily solve both direct dmg and dmg over time with different playstyles and builds. 2 examples: Volatile impact mixture 21322 Sludge blast 22222 And of course you can supplement the debuff to pump in dmg with your secondary but that is outside the problem, but just some examples: Subata automatic fire 21113 Wave cooker blistering necrosis 221x1

I've definitely warmed up to the Sludge Pump since I first started playing, usually when I use it I build it for maximum charged shot fragment count and corrosive DoT, then pair it with the EPC with burning nightmare and Persistent Plasma, for stacking a shitload of DoT effects on anything that might want to come close to me. Sometimes I even throw a Neurotoxin Grenade in the mix if I'm feeling spicy. Ultimately though my favourite of the three primaries is the Cryo Cannon, either with Ice Storm or Ice Spear.

One combo I like to run is the direct damage overclock on the CSP and the heavy hitter mod on the EPC, the damage output is really satisfying, and with the fire mod you can light puddles in one tap!

I love the sludge pump, it's so mechanically interesting, and it's on driller, who already had insane depth! that said, the primary weapon slot is arguably the only slot that's purely a weapon, every other item has utility and combat value, so at least you don't have to wonder if you should be saving it for something besides combat. even impact axes have utility value, I like to mark my tunnels with them, makes it easier for everyone involved.

Personally I always prefer using the overclocks that extend its effective range. Sludge blast or AG mixture. If you feel like you need sludge to kill oppressors btw then sludge blast will do it. MASSIVE impact damage.

I've been a cryo canon girlie ever since unlocking it, and honestly getting bored with driller. Then a couple weeks ago I came back and tried the sludge pump and have simply fallen in love. It's my favorite gun in drg

Now go back to the flamer and build for heat & fear. Uses very little ammo and half the bugs just run away and burn to death. I love all the driller primaries, tbh. Cryo was my favorite at first, but is probably my least used now. Every once in a while I miss the cryovamp fun though. Nothing like freezing an enormous horde when you're the last one up and getting all your hp back with the drills.

It reminds me a lot of Demoman's sticky bomb launcher from tf2. While aiming direct shots can help, the best players use their environment to figure out where the goo/sticky would be best utilized, from traps, to closing off an objective, etc.

Disperser compound and Fire upgrade on the plasma pistol is one of my favorite builds. That or the clean OC that ups your DoT and the radiation OC and T5 corrosive upgrade on the wave cooker. Good shit.

I like your frequent discussions about drg’s development history a lot of people ignore a live service game development and don’t see the history that led to the game and can’t appreciate how far a game has come. Apex legends is a great example of this. The game is incomprehensibly better than its first two seasons but not many realize how many higher priority problems the devs have had then they complain about frankly often insane stuff like “p2l” weapon skins if they had somebody who explained the game before and the history it would really changed their perspective and I’m very grateful that you have given me a different perspective on drg than I otherwise would have had without knowledge of its def history.

Ima a sound designer, so I can make a pretty good guess, it's still a guess though. It sounds like someone blowing air through a straw into a thicker liquid like milk. Then pitch-shifted down for its main effect. Then either a groan tube or a synth layered underneath it for the hold sound

The fact that goop can be set on fire encourages you to use burning nightmare if you're using the EPC but I feel like the main bonus that you kind of forget is that the goop is so good at grouping the enemies that burning nightmare really gets its bang for it's buck.

The sludge pump is my favorite weapon in the entire game. I find it so fun and ammo efficient to use. On Haz 3 or below a single sludge goop ball can take down a grunt or slasher with the DOTs alone and if you have bosco he can finish off the guards. One of my favorite builds to use with it that my friend showed me is just a pure DOT/debuff driller loadout. Sludge pump with your choice of overclock. (2 debuffs from slowdown) microwave gun with the radioactive overclock (2 more debuffs if you have the poison upgrade in the tree) and you can rock with the piss gas grenade for even more poison aoe DOT. You alone can do 4-5 debuffs on any enemy let alone not to mention if you play with friends and if they have their own stuff going on like fire shock or cryo that will just be added to the mix. It's alot of fun to see just how many debuffs you can stack on the enemy before they die

When I first saw the experimental prototypes, I had a feeling the Sludge Pump was based on the Biogun. It's nice to have confirmation. I think it was Unreal Tournament 2004 that I was playing that had the little globules form together when shot at. The weapon has been extremely creative and I love it for that. The Sludge Pump is definitely one of my favourite weapons and I adore the way it changes gameplay for the Driller and the game. Synergizing with teammates that use fire on defensive missions is a particularly great time.

I guess going through overclocks would double this video's length, but Sludge Blast deserves special mention IMO. Made to destroy any large target regardless of armour (handling the issue with Oppressors you mentioned). Makes Eliminations a push-over.
