Correction:- The mini marquee board will not work with the old EL panel they use high voltage! It is designed to work with his new LED panels (more energy efficient and look nicer imo). Note: I will test out the audio jacks there on the next video when we look at the miniture "save" PCBs that you can connect up instead of a full PCMCIA slot PCB. But mainly what I wanted to ask.i had the banana cart 161 and in number 2 and when I went to adjust the power 5 + power the game started .but if I push a button it freezes up

If regular MVS carts work, that sounds like the 161 in 1 has a fault perhaps! It could also be that some of the PROG OE and RE signals arent getting to the cart maybe. You would need to test with an official MVS cart that uses those lines for bank switching (eg. KoF 2000 or later).

I'm having the same memory card issue with a 6 slot board. So I bought up a bunch of new chips. Swapped out all the chips I could for the memory area. At first 74HCT244 and 245 chips in the front. That didn't work so I swapped out the 2nd row of SN74AS244 and 245 chips. So 9 chips in total thinking I'd find the bad chip.. nope! What else could it be?? I've checked all the traces I could.. didn't see anything bad under the chips either. All that's left is to learn how to use a logic probe and try the finger test haha.

There will be more 74 series ICs related to the address decoding on the memory card slot. What I don't know is which chips they are and where they are located. You would have to look at DIR and OE signals on those chips and do connectivity testing to nearby other 74 series to see if you can work out what controls those signals.

@@GadgetUK164 thanks for the response.. I've found the while prob awhile ago. I removed both memory ribbon sockets so I could see all the pathways to the pins. It was a break on pin 30 of socket cn7. Trace break right where it connects to the pin connection. Could not see it with naked eye and hard still under loop but no connection! Haha Anyways.. love your inspiring and very informative videos! Could of never of fixed my board without them PERIOD!! Thanks for what you do and keep on doing it! Love fixing stuff myself and your videos have advanced my skills of electronic repair!

Credit board is cool I just bought wood to make my own mvs-2 only using a 1 slot though 😑.... have to look at the manual see if this will work on a 1 slot

Most (if not all) of the 1 slots have credit board connectors on them (two white connectors as seen on the video).

I think many of them do! The don't have the marquee connections (as they are single slot), but looking at a 1B board for example I see what looks like the credit counter connector on there.

There is a way it can be done, but only on some 1 slots (eg. MV1FZ). A mod with a CPLD or discrete logic is required too though I think. Pretty sure the guy that created the Neo Save Masta produced one (as a proto), just not sure if he stated selling it!

There's either a damaged trace or dirty connection on that bad slot, or a fault with the buffering related to the P bus on that slot. It could be also a fault related to slot selection.

That memory card reader board also needs a mounting bracket, my 4 slot big red originally didnt come with it I thought....until I found it at the bottom of the cab inside as a complete assembly. Re-mounting it is the problem, on my cab its under the joystick area and that PCB mounts to a metal frame that then mounts to the cabinet, its a bit of a b#$%$ to ddo it...prob why it wasnt installed again.

I bought a whole wack of spare parts about 10 yrs ago - before these started to get expensive...I have one of those 4 slot perforated shield boards as a spare - I wasnt aware they were rare.

Most of the Amiga ones use a different type of memory I think. It has to be small(ish) SRAM ones - eg. 128K or less.

Yes, it's crazy just based on the parallel (2 x 60 pin cables lol) comms side. The PCB size was something else stupid really - the headphone sockets could have been seperate minuture boards instead of one giant board for the two things.

@@GadgetUK164 The 2 x 60 pin is a complete waste as half of those are ground ! the rest is to match up to the PCMCIA type II standard pin for pin, but if they had just stuck to 8bit cards it could have been reduced down to one 60 pin connection.

There's only one 1-slot board with memory card interface: the MV-1. Pre-made consolized MVS usually are MV-1C boards because they're the only top-loading ones. Anyway, it should be possible to add the memory card interface to all 1-slot boards.
