I didn't watch SNL much so I didn't watch this when it was on but I have seen it several times over the years on KZbin and it kills me every time I watch it. This is hilarious. Watkins has always been a strange dude and that's part of what makes him hilarious. One of his first movies was literally the first vcr tape I bought. I've always been a fan of BOC and that song has been a favorite since its release back in 1840s lol. Seriously though that's always been a great song

I read somewhere that the skit didn't go over that well in dress rehearsal. In the aired skit, Will wore that shirt that is way to small, and maybe a couple of other changes I can't remember. Subtle changes changed the skit from a throwaway to eternal.

Funny 😆. Related. 35 years ago 🎂 The late Bruce Fairbairn asked Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance to write a song. It was inspired by Don't Fear the Reaper. Vallance presented it to Fairbairn, who played it to Blue Oyster Cult. The band hated it! 😖 Bob Clearmountain heard it. He liked 👍 it and told Adams to add it to his upcoming album Reckless. He did not know 😳 what to do with it! 🙄 He played it with the band on 1 take. The big change was removing his backing vocal. The song is Run to You. The song went Top 40. Jim Vallance thought that Blue Oyster Cult rejected that song because it did not have enough cow 🐄 bell 🔔 !! L 🤣L

Some bands have used it more pronounced than others. Dont fear the reaper was 76 , while Hair of the Dog album was 75 Cowbell goes way way back. But Nazareth was the first for me
