Definitely a strange fish, nicely done John, another mini miracle. No idea why your channel gets hate mail, if they dont like what you do, just turn it off? Thanks for sharing

I love your videos! I'm not a machinist, nor will I likely ever be, but I appreciate your skill and admire how meticulous you are in your work! Keep it up, and forget the trolls! 🎉

Nicely done John. Ignore the detractors, they live sad lives. I've been watching since '4 Jaw Fun' and I'm still here.

That was a tricky little number. Lucky that you didn't know it couldn't be done . Anyone that has 100k followers is bound to have a few trolls , it's life as it is today. Those very few people are sad bastards , the rest of us have a smile on our faces every time the notification comes up for another Doubleboost video.

With a std grease nipple screwed in the back instead it would be a handy adapter to keep in the tool box for when you want to use any other grease gun.

Just what I was thinking, that would also give a swivel ability instead of winding the hose up.

Looks good. I have some pieces of 12L14, a common US leaded alloy which also machines easily. Everything I have read says leaded steel does not weld. Clearly you have a weld bead, but only time will tell if it holds up over time.
@doubleboost3 күн бұрын
You are correct not supposed to be welded .Saying that it welded ok with a 309 stainless rod not in a safety critical application
@chrisstephens66732 күн бұрын
. There are i believe some concerns in this modern risk-averse age about lead fumes from welding temperatures.
@RalfyCustoms2 күн бұрын
I agree, and never use leaded (en3b iirc?)for welded parts, as the lead messes it up, however you as always have over come that 😂

Good job John,would have been nice to show it working with grease gun.

That can be arranged no problem
@FrontSideBus3 күн бұрын
I suppose if you really wanted to go to town, you could have put an o-ring around the inner part and then used an internal circlip to keep it inside the outer. That way it would screw onto the nipple without having to spin the whole grease gun around :)

You obviouslr did John but I didnt think you coukd weld leaded steel!
@andersmansdotter69233 күн бұрын
I was of the understanding that leaded steel can not to weld?
@srp019832 күн бұрын
You can weld it, but the welds can be very brittle. Brazing or silver soldering are a good alternative.

Nice video, don't think leaded free machining steel is supposed to be welded though.

@doubleboost The weld didn't look too bad but it's the lead fumes that are the real problem.
@EckCop3 күн бұрын
I thought you were maybe going to put a thread on the outside of the second part, maybe with a jam nut to hold it. A good weld will definitely seal it though.
