Yes! Definitely eating vegetables is great, add them to your meals for sure! But they should make up like half of your dinner with a much smaller portion of carbs and lean protein. But adding some broccoli to a huge portion of lasagna doesn't make that lasagna any healthier lol

It also just goes to show how much lack of nutritional information that is taught to people is very minimal. I feel if they required classes in school even just a basic health and nutrition class for kids would be perfect to create life long healthy habits

in the later seasons, Anna really emphasises "DONT eat differenty this week, if you want help EAT HOW YOU DO NORMALLY" and i was always curious about the backstory as to why she feels the need to say that. This must be the episode and couple that brought that sentiment into the script

@vawies Yeah it's a terrible health crisis. But these shows are for entertainment, they aren't in a serious tone and they try to be funny too. FYI though, I am anorexic with a BMI fluctuating between 16.9 and 17.2. Thanks for calling me an obese fatty hon.
@telisia5168

@@lolaengelhart5042 Still, you need to know that they are dramatic because most people nowadays don't care about their weight issues and underestimate the consequences. It's sad that people have to make it an entertainment and be dramatic to get more awareness from the public. (Think of the show as Nat Geo but with food as the topic) If you want a serious tone, you can always go to a doctor and ask about your weight and and be honest about your diet. There are so many doctors now, but why do people still ignore those serious advice? Btw I think they're trying to be entertaining, nobody is trying to be funny in the show and the only funny part is the irony lol.

Right! The fact of the matter is that this show is revealing the hidden truth: we eat a lot more than we are admitting to actually eating. I do believe we subconsciously deceive ourselves. @@sheristewart3940 I am not sure if it is all about deceiving ourselves. Have you ever ate a snack while watching tv or computer and it is gone without realizing you have ate it all. We are such a busy society, be it active or passive. we do a lot of unconscious eating. We have to commit to stopping everything else when we are eating and eating with our full attention on that task. Big food doesn't mind if you put down the whole bag of crisps while watching tv or playing computer games, it is money in their pocket. Time to start doing what is good for you.

@@gwenscott535 Yes, Gwen, that is it! You hit the nail on the head! When we eat, sit at the table and enjoy the meal. No, bags or boxes, etc., of this or that to snack on while watching videos, etc. Therein lies the problem that, yes, we all have to admit that we cannot sit watching a video and only partake of 'A' portion of potato chips, which is, I believe, approximately only 10 chips, and leave the bag alone. Honestly, we just have to not get the bag in the first place. We must discipline ourselves to rigidly adhere to only consume our food at meals without doing any other activity. I myself will find this difficult, because I love munching on crackers, whole wheat crackers that contain no sugar, while watching a video. I'm going to diligently give my utmost earnest ability to stop eating anything while watching videos. Thanks again Gwen, you're right, absolutely.

Those ready meals really get me...why would the manufacturers think you gonna eat half when it's not even a lot? No one can just eat 1/4th of a stouffer's lasagna and be satisfied. I am so sick of people using PCOS as an excuse for why they’re fat. I have it and have lost weight by being brutally honest about what I eat. PCOS is not the reason you’re fat and not the reason you can’t lose weight

Eat less calories than you burn = weight loss That is basic physics. This doesn't mean you SHOULD subsist on a diet of only whipped cream and pizza while trying to lose weight. BUT, you can as long as the calories are less than what you burn. Ideally, you eat foods higher in fiber because that will keep you fuller. And you eat more fruit and veggies to lose weight because it's healthier. But it is not necessary for weight loss.

However when you eat calorie dense foods you feel less fuller and when you eat vegetables and other stuff cocidered healthy like rice potatoes fish on and on they take more space for the same amount of calories. Except that your body doesn’t know what a calorie is like a machine we use to measure them for energy. The body uses hormones such as insulin in different responses to different macronutrients and has a large impact on fat storage or fat burning. A prime example is that the same amount of calories from coke or sunflower seeds will have a way more difference in your body when it comes to fat storage and actual energy being utilized.

This is what I think: they came on the show just wanted to prove a point that their weight gain wasn’t their fault and wants Lynne and Anna to tell them that ‘oh yes, for once, I think you’re not a secret eater but it’s just a metabolism issue etc...’ However, deep down they know they actually eat like rubbish, so during surveillance, they try to eat all sorts of healthy food to fool everyone else, but since they don’t have a lot of knowledge about calories and doesn’t practice portion control, they still got caught out! But what they got caught out even more...was that they got told they lost weight this week... NOW HOWEVER, I. Do have to make a fair comment - if Ronnie really has PCOS like she claims, then yes it’s harder to lose weight and even with the amount she eats, she can maintain a higher weight (but should still not be that heavy)

If anyone is struggling with PCOS then I would point you to a professor Ben Bikman on KZbin. He explains how PCOS is related to hormonal changes caused by our modern diet. Shortened version in my own words is this. Eat refined carbohydrate more than a couple of times a day you will likely become insulin resistant. This raises the amount of insulin hormone in your body. Raised insulin inhibits the action of aromatase in the follicle which converts testosterone into eostrogen thus preventing ovulation and potential eggs then become cysts instead of being released. Unfortunately for the last 50 years we have all followed the high carb diet we are told is healthy. People with PCOS would be better off eating in a way that lowers insulin levels eg lower carb, moderate protein and higher healthy fats. This will help most people with PCOS and lots of other metabolic/hormonal diseases.

For any of you trying to lose weight, try oatmeal. For 1/2 cup oats, it is about 150 calories. It may seem like a lot of calories for a small amount. But, if you add water and warm it up, the oatmeal will expand and take up more room in your stomach so you feel fuller. You can add cinnamon, cocoa powder, and even stevia to make it taste better. The cocoa powder and cinnamon are also high in antioxidants.

She 100% lied about her eating which is why she lost weight during the week, she literally proved she was lying by losing weight, she wouldn’t have lost any if she was honestly eating what she usually does. PCOS is connected to insuline resistance which usually goes along with eating too much sugar and thus a weight gain, IT DOES NOT CAUSE weight gain it usually is connected with it but it’s always because the patient eats too much sugar.
