Coaching videos etc always talk about having to warm up to get into stride but my problem is I often play quite well for the first 45-60mins (well by my standards, I'm not great and my highest break is still mid 30s..) of practice and then suddenly I just start missing easy angles... I just can't seem to maintain the same clear, easy focus for longer than that. I'm not just playing on pure instinct, I do often line angles up and so on and continue to do so for most shots but I just hit a wall where suddenly I can't play well anymore. It's like my eyes just start to go after a time or something. I also seem to struggle with many spotted black shots when the angle is more than around 30 degrees or so as well as potting the yellow, green and brown from their spots... not all angles pots just these damn things and I can't figure out why I struggle so much with those yet can often pot similar angled shots from other positions. I practice spotted blacks and baulk colours a lot and still struggle, while the rest of my game has shown noticeable improvement from practice.. any ideas what's going on with me?
@Breakfromlife5 жыл бұрын
It basically sounds like you are struggling when you are having the greatest difficult when you know what to expect. You need to find a way to line these shots up consistently and understand what happened. Quite often when your down on a shot the more you want the ball to go one way the more it goes in the opposite direction. Sometimes when you play a shot in a relaxed way it goes where you want it to. And sometimes it’s very difficult to play shots at a specific angle, it’s almost like your body won’t let you do it. Hopefully something here helps because it’s difficult to know what went wrong when I haven’t seen it

@@Breakfromlife Hmm, cheers man. I wondered if maybe it had something to do with the fact that in a club when I'm paying for a limited time on a table I start thinking about the fact I have one hour left or however long it is and don't feel I can just stop for a while, take a good break and relax. I'll keep working on my spotted colours too and try to figure out my issues there.

Nice vid...watched it loads. My problem is confusion with why im hitting the wrong side of cueball and when im in the middle it looks wrong. Knowing this I turned to the dominant eye theory to correct my sighting. The problem here is there ate two top theories....centre vision (nik barrow) or dominant eye alignment (Barry Stark). I dont know which one is best
@Breakfromlife5 жыл бұрын
After all the time I’ve been playing snooker I’m not sure you can get your head in the right place. So that it looks like you are delivering the cue straight with the centre of the CueBall looking like the centre. I’m sure everything looks more in line that it used to after more time playing the game. But every day I cue up to the centre of the CueBall for a long pot not sure if I’m playing with a little bit of side or not. Sometimes it goes left sometimes right and I think I’m hitting the same place

Great vid...but please explain HOW to calibrate the aim??
@Dhirallin5 жыл бұрын
Interesting, for wide cuts, why do you aim for the edge of the ghost ball instead of the center? Is this because it's harder to visualize the gap between the object ball and where you want to strike, or does the perception of this gap change when you move around? I use a slight modification of the ghost ball method. First I visualize the ghost ball, then I explicitly measure the distance from the object ball to the center of the ghost ball. I.e. I visualize a line that's about 2cm long. This line length can be calibrated based on what I _think_ is 2cm VS what is actually 2cm. I find this helps, because just using ghost ball alone, sometimes it's hard to visualize exactly where the center of the ghost ball is. Finally like you, I run a line through my ghost ball center to a point on the object ball, or visualize the gap from the edge of the object ball to the center of the ghost ball in the case of wide cuts.

Its very hard to me to pot the pink or reds to middle pocket . 2 When i am fully behind a ball and it s not far but not very close . Its very hard to pot the ball directly and when i add a screw back its become very very harder can you explain what training i need to do to pot this balls? 3 When i am holding the cue in every shot i change the place of my grip and bridge a lot and it hurts me!!! I want to know where i should hold my cue and how to find my place Sorry about my bad english language And thank you a lot Bye

How good a table is usually has less to do with what the components and more to do with how well it is put together. When I got my table reclothed kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJ6QdIt8oLeYq5Y it took 3 days to just replace the cloth and all the rubbers. Do let us know how you are getting on with this because it would be awesome if you can get a table in your garage.
@humansvd32696 жыл бұрын
Break from life The wife has said if I can make the garage cleared and we can afford it, I can have a go at it. I ask because a couple of suppliers (from alibaba) were asking if I wanted slate or marble and steel cushions vs wood and etc. If putting it together is more critical, then perhaps hiring a professional billiard table assembler is in order. Btw, going to buy one of those shirts!
@Breakfromlife6 жыл бұрын
Definitely get slate. Steel back cushions are more expensive and most tables I play on including mine don’t have them. The tables are really difficult to put together as they are usually moved in so many individual parts. It took 2 days for professional table fitters to put mine together when I first had mine installed

Looks like a little extension of the ghost ball method. Ive been using this method a lot & at times do focus on the spot where the cue is abt to hit - edge of object ball for 1/2 ball, somewhere in betn the ctr & edge for 3/4 ball etc. My problem however is that many times i miss because i cant discern the little little shades of the 5 basic potting angles.... many many times the object ball will rattle off the jaws of the pocket a couple of times & come out. How do i refine the aiming?
@jbdoggy6 жыл бұрын
For example slightly thicker or thinner than 'perfect' 3/4 ball or half ball. & these shades of thick & thin become more difficult the further the distance away betn the cue & object ball.

I started practicing hitting the cue ball to the end and leaving my cue in place to see how close to the tip the ball hit without being shown. Yay me. Comes in handy in pool when you are shooting forward from the line to pot something behind it. I just set the ball up in the right spot to pot and can usually go up and down the table straight enough to pot. People have literally clapped but it's easier than it looks once you practice enough to shoot straight and centre. I know.. snooker channel.. still...

What were you doing before? I mean you're better than me, probably by a decent amount. But no one taught me this I just do it, alays did since early (I need to practice center of the cue ball more as that's when I tend to let myself down) I thought this was just something everyone did? I cant think how else you would try and pot a ball? I walk into my shots as well if I can. Also I deliberately play as fast as I can, when I practice. I do this to train my brain to quicker shot selection, the reason why I like this, is rhythm. I don't like too much thinking time 9 times out of 10, maybe even 95% of the time, my initial shot choice is the correct one(that does not mean I pull it off though, but that's down to where I am striking the ball, or holes in my spin game, as I have only recently started to use side with confidence). I slow down a little when I play others, but I still like to move fast. Having said all this I play a lot more Pool than Snooker and I slow down more for snooker (its just so much harder) but I still see the shots fast. Any way great channel, some of your tips on using side really helped me use it correctly, thanks by the way

This is just ghost ball. The pros don't use any aiming systems. They can pot balls without using any reference points or imagining ghost balls or ball fractions. Their bridge hands and elbows fall into place already aligned to make virtually every pot on the table. When they miss it's almost always due to stroke flaws (unintentional spin). All aiming is done while standing up and they bend over onto the table already aligned to pot the ball. It's called automatic aiming and every good player does it. Hit a million balls.

@@heremansmarc It's a matter of the rules and the matter of less balls in 9 ball. If you make a perfect break, you win that game or frame in 9 ball instantly for one example.
