Not true. In the official logo, the left N is green. The right "stick" connecting the left N with the right has a green and blue surface. That makes the surface parallel to the blue surface also blue, and the diagonal of the left N is red facing blue. Your proof is wrong.

Yup, I was obsessed with drawing this logo as a child, in a way that other kids drew those stylized 'S' symbols. it was always easy to remember the N's alternated blue/green with the opposite color shading all remaining sides besides a single red face. To remember where the red colors went as a child, I remembered RGB for red green blue in the standard order and I pictured the letters stacked vertically. Blue was the last letter/on the bottom of the RGB so this means red is on the LOWER (underside/bottom) diagonal face of N's with a Blue face. Green appears before blue/is on top of blue, so red appears on the UPPER (on top) diagonal face on N's with a green face. From there I always remembered...Blue N = red colored lower slope and Green N = red colored upper slope.

the fact that there is a visible difference between the actual logo and the attempts of recreating the logo on your thumbnail is worthy of praise on its own.
@sheik1245 жыл бұрын
But there isn't. Look at your N64. The N on the left is green with a blue bottom, the one on the right is blue with a red bottom. It's a 3D N, and the thumbnail has the entire thing spun around (clockwise or counter, doesn't matter) - the blue N is on the left, the green on the right. That's where the error is. When he's freeze-framing the logo and "fixing" it, it's not being viewed from the same angle as the one on your console. So most of them look correct, until they begin to rotate, then part of them isn't correct.
@gamepro94z5 жыл бұрын

As a graphic designer/brand fenatic I can 100% say that this logo doesn't have a style guideline document. It being modeled incorrectly in so many games makes it a huge problem... it's pretty common practice to set out colour swatches and ideal usage of the logo when it's made. It's so strange to me that such a big company like nentendo could have this problem :0 more so because of the big investments games are. Even small inconsistency errors like this can have a huge impact on the way people perceive the brand, very cool that you noticed them though :) I'm impressed with your knowledge around this logo!!

It's kinda sad that I've noticed some n64 logos with wrong coloring and thought they were some chinese bootleg logos but the very first image that comes up when you google 'n64 logo' is wrong and it is the logo I always thought was the official correct logo...
@33link3335 жыл бұрын
No the first one that comes up is the correct one, the one he is comparing in this video is the correct one rotated 90 decrees to the right so that it shows the other faces.

The only question is, where do you get that knowledge of the logo that even google doesn't have? Did you go to nintendo and ask them for the actual logo?
@Snooplax5 жыл бұрын
The official Nintendo 64 DD start up screen used Blue. Every Game that features Nintendo characters also used blue too. These games are Majora's Mask, Ocarina of time, Diddy Kong Racing and Donkey Kong 64 . Banjo-Tooie fixed the mistake of Banjo Kazooie and made the logo blue instead of red. Also out of the 25 Games that use an Nintendo 64 model 15 use the right blue model and the other 10 use the wrong logos talked about in this video.

@@Snooplax I feel like this info should've been in the video, it's what the entire thing hinges on, but there's no explanation.

The wrong logo looks better. Otherwise, the red in the logo drowned out by the rest of the colors.

How can you possibly know what the colors of the unseen faces are on the 2D image?

As inconsistent as it seems to be, I gotta wonder...was there ever an actually "correct" one to begin with? How do we know the one you're using as a base to determine if the rest are "correct" or not is actually the "correct" one itself or if IT was actually incorrect as well?

reperfan4 I feel like the one used most often would be the correct one.

You're not being clear enough on what's wrong withe supposed inaccurate logos. Also you're assuming that each leg of the logo has the same color underneath.
@Atticore5 жыл бұрын
I think the clip in the video of the logo coming together from separate rectangular boxes demonstrates it pretty well. Since it's made from identical parts it's easy to see errors when you understand it's parts.

How is he not clear enough, he points and arrow to the wrong color, then fixes the same wrong color to be correct.
@Atticore5 жыл бұрын
@@camiscrazy0883 to be fair, I think he's referring to the actual corrections themself, and if the video authors claims of inaccuracy are legit. But again, I think the 3d video of it being built out of parts from different angles was proof enough.

You didn't explain this very well. Most of the people in the comments seem to think that there's no red on the bottom in the official logo, when there is - just not on the opposite face, which is blue. That 2D logo comparison was very misleading, as it's easy to miss that you're talking about viewing it in 3D from a different perspective as the official common logo. Ironically, the poor explanation in this video is going to lead to - and has lead to - even MORE misinformation regarding the logo than before.

Great video. But. It introduces a whole new conspiracy theory. Does THIS mean pretty much EVERY Nintendo 64 game EVER is NOT an official Nintendo 64 game!?! Because, if the logo is WRONG...THEN WHAT ARE WE PLAYING!?

I think the issue is the red. if there was no red, it'd be easy: blue on x-axis (left-right), green on z-axis (front-back), yellow on y-axis (up-down), with the slopes matching the sides perpendicular to the ground. but with the red, now we don't know which slopes should actually be red and which shouldn't
