I tried the TW slick n slide car shampoo and I must confess I was very impressed by the end result. Snowfomed the truck dry, dwell for 5 mins, water pressure wash off and then used the TW slick n Slide. Hand Mitt for contact cleaning, water pressure wash off and then I used. Meguires Ceramic Wax Coating. The end results, after 2hours, was excellent. And today has been one of the dry days here in the UK as the last two weeks has been raining. Love the Videos and always a pleasure watching them.

Hi Pan ,if you say snow foam helps lubrication, but once you power wash it off, the lube has gone .Also, the thick foam that just sits there won't lift dirt ,i used to use a runnery foam ,but to be honest, i stopped using snow foam as it its another stage ,but i would jet wash the my truck then make my own foam/soap for a a contact wash ,thanks for all your hard work on these videos ,you have taught me so much ,and i am just about to get in to using a DA 🤘

Thanks for the video, Pan. I don't have the luxury of having running water at my apartment. My car cleaning process is taking my car to a DIY coin car wash. I'll foam the car using a Marolex Axel Foamer with a bit of Koch-Chemie GSF and a small amount of my APC to give it a bit of bite. I'll let the foam dwell for a bit and spray the car down using the pressure washer. Then I pull out of the bay and spray the car down with ONR out of a spray bottle and use my Ego blower to dry it off. I'll then drive the car home and and give it a rinseless contact wash. This has been working well for me.

Pan - just found your channel a few days ago and love the content! Subscribed! 😃 This was a timely video for me today as I used my foam cannon today on my Porsche for the first time, and for only the second time overall. I realize washing cars is like religion and politics - everyone has an opinion, none of which are wrong. For me, I just don’t see the benefit of using a foam cannon. My cars never get that dirty here in Florida, and I am religious about keeping them coated in graphene coatings. I get the need to lubricate the surface before washing, but I can get that with simply using a foam gun. No, I don’t get the thick blanket of foam, but the surface gets lubricated. I love washing/detail my cars, but pulling out my pressure washer (and putting it back), is a pain in the ass time-suck for me, and just isn’t worth the results. What I have been doing is using some extra Griots waterless car wash or some detailer spray on the surface after an initial hose-off before using a two-mit hand wash. Seems to do well. Again, just my personal experience. I respect people enjoying the satisfaction of seeing their cars blanketed in foam, it’s just a bridge too far for me. 😜 P.S. - LOVE your Aventurine Turbo S!

Based on what I’ve seen, sometimes the prewash foams can work (pending brand) but with my car being covered in PPF it still clings to that fine sort of dust/dirt film . Usually comes off with the second stage foam hand wash (now if the thanksgiving long weekend weather plays ball)

Question is, whats the most effective ph neutral foam? By suggesting its a regular maintenance wash product, is the actual cleaning power not a factor? Is it just to make what ever dirt there is a bit wetter so it comes off the paint easier on the contact wash?
@granddetailing
@granddetailing Жыл бұрын
I'm a CARPRO person since they have it all 😁 so Descale is acid and I use it to clean waxed cars on which I will apply ceramic coating , LIFT is alcaine and I use it every 4-6 months on ceramic coated cars when I also use ironx to clean the coating so it can function properly again. and RESET is neutral. I love that it can also be used in a snow canon so I use it as added lubricant during maintenance wash because I get cars that are parked outside and the dust is "baked" into the clear coat and I honestly can't imagine just doing a contact wash without first spraying the foam, waiting few minutes to kind of "melt" and lubricate it, rinse it and then snow foam it again and do the contact wash with RESET in my backet. 😃 Great informative video, Pan! Thank you 👌🙂. Question - where would you put carpro iron snow soap? Added lubricant? Regular maintenance wash? Or with Lift every 4-6 months? Thank you! 🙂
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
I prefer to use the stronger IronX when I need to do chemical decon on customer vehicles. And my car has carbon ceramic brakes, so I don't have iron particles and brake dust, so no need for such soaps in my case. I guess I would use IronX Snow Soap once every other month on a vehicle with steel rotors perhaps, kind of like Gyeon Restart Wash.

I’m not a detailer but i wash My 3 Hellcat vehicles 2x a week and i have to wash outside. I like to pre rinse with water 1st. So it gets the paint temperature down to a normal temp. I have my hot water set up to it too so i can mix temp of my hose water to a Luke warm and i have a whole house water softener hooked to just the hot water side of my house. So I’m not shocking the paint temp either way with my rinse water. So it doesn’t matter if the car dries off a bit before i do the foam because the paint temp is still neutral temp. So i use Luke warm water to pre rinse-then do foam and let it sit for few then rinse again & wipe bottom of car all the way around-then foam again and hand wash whole thing. Been doing it for 3 years and no scratches and paint looks new. I have 2 that are that Diamond black which everyone i know has spider webs in it and i have a B5 blue one. No spider webs at all. I do use a touch free car wash place sometimes and they have an amazing wax it puts on. It’s called Cerama bond or Cera Bond or something like that and it’s amazing. Can’t buy it which sucks but this car wash charges double than everyone else but it really does a good job and does different spray techniques and different soft & heavy rain drop down effects on your car-it’s pretty clever. It’s weird that in my area in the last year they’ve put in 8 big fancy car washes in just a 1.5 mile radius and they are all touch car washes. How do car makers not say something about not washing your car this way. These places are jammed packed everyday all day-they are huge and have like 50 stations for you to do everything to your car after getting those brushes beat into your paint. Why do manufacturers not put these places out of business? I’m in Florida-a lot of electric cars start on fire -some places don’t allow electric cars and some say no Teslas specifically because of fire risk. Lol. Stupid electric cars. So yeah just yesterday i saw another touchless wash place get bought and they’re going to put in another brush wash place-unreal. There’s so many car washes people are starting to complain to zoning board. I’ve had paint go bad on some expensive vehicles in past and never used brush type washes & have had dealers give me fresh paint job for free under warranty but i bet if i went thru those brush car washes they wouldn’t have. Just keep in mind people-just because they make these washes doesn’t mean they’re good for your car and then the resale & warranty will cost you.

I think you should foam and then with a regular waterhole rinse. I think using a hose with just the end of it (no attachment) instead of a hose gun which adds more pressure to the paint which in turn adds more pressure to the dirt is less likely to cause damage. Then I would spray APC and foam a second time and then I would contact wash. APC step could be done on the first foaming also.

I am DIY with no real inventory of detailing tools or products. My previous vehicle was 2007 Sienna and I only washed it occasionally near the end. I am open to all brands and favorably inclined to the Turtle Wax Hybrid solutions line, and a 2 bucket cleaning approach. Dishwashing liquid is an old school trick from decades ago. Most stopped using that household item, in preference of actual stripping shampoos formulated for use on vehicles (Adam's Strip Wash, CarPro Descale, McKee's Coating Prep Shampoo, etc). And regardless what stripping shampoo you use, that only starts the braking down process of older protections. To ensure 100% removal, machine polishing is still needed.

I’m still a bit confused about the use of PH neutral snow foams as a pre wash. You say its to add lubrication and to prevent water spotting, not to remove any dirt. However we put the pre wash snow foam on and then after a period just rinse it off….. so we have just rinsed off all the lubrication and anti water spotting….. ie we are back at stage 1 without having removed any dirt?? I enjoy your videos , just a bit confused…..
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 6 ай бұрын
You will still remove a bit of the loose dirt due in part to the pressure washer, but at least that dirt will have a layer of lubrication with the pH neutral snow foam. So it's still better than not using a snow foam, and is totally fine if the vehicle isn't super dirty. I use pH neutral snow foams and soaps for regular weekly washes. Once in a while, when a car is super dirty, or in the spring to remove the winter muck, grime and road film, that's when a higher pH snow foam can play its role. It does a lot more dirt and road film removal in the pre-wash stage. Watch my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2jdaZSgpM-FjKssi=w9bUTanbSXZ6uoFZ

@@PanTheOrganizer I needed help to clean a really dirty exterior. And this video helped. Can I mix an APC in the foam cannon along with my car shampoo?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 8 ай бұрын
I wouldn't mix products if you don't know what you're doing or can't guarantee the chemical compatibility. Just use a higher pH snow foam for the pre-wash, like Bilt Hamber Touch-Less, CarPro Lift, Armour Detail Supply Decon Soap, Koch Chemie Active Foam, etc those are already made for that specific use in the foam cannon. Or some like to spray some APC on the paint and then cover with their usual snow foam, let that dwell, rinse, and then do the contact wash. It depends what you plan on doing after the wash, and what type of protection is on your paint. If you have just a regular wax or sealant, an APC can start to weaken or brake that down. Even some weaker coatings could take a hit if you do that too often. If you don't have any protection and are just looking for a deep cleaning before you do some iron removal, and clay bar for example, then yes you can use the APC followed by the snow foam. But I would simply buy a higher pH snow foam.

Great video Pan as usual. Thanks. So I will be receiving a brand new Matte paint car in the next month. I expect to ceramic coat it. I have Adam's car shampoo and CarPro Lift. But since the Adams Polishes and AutoFanatic soaps are for washing purposes, but can be used in a snow foam, don’t they actually clean the vehicle instead of just providing lubrication? I for example do a contact wash, but use them both as a pre-wash and a shampoo.
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
It doesn't quite work that way with those specific soaps. The chemical alone doesn't always do the work, you need mechanical agitation as well to work the shampoo on the surface. You can see what a pH neutral shampoo does on its own compared to higher pH snow foams on a panel, with no agitation in the video I linked in the description Do snow foams actually work?". ;)

You know that I love all of your vids but that I always wanna ask questions LOL. If doing a full detail and you're not sure as to whether a full alkali or full acidic wash will best deal with the grime on a car, would it be good to do a wash with both. You do a snow application with the higher PH and then rinse it off then repeat with a lower PH and then rinse off and then depending on which one you did first you then re-foam and then do the contact wash with that. My thinking is that doing that method will cover all the issues with the clear coat being clogged with anything. What ya think? Thanks 🙂

On full details for vehicles I am applying a coating to, I will start with a higher pH snow foam to brake down grime and road film, and then use the acid shampoo for the contact wash to remove minerals and start braking down older waxes or sealants that might be on the paint. Hi Pan Thanks!! for your response I do have a garden hose however I shut off the water to the outside faucet since the weather now drops below freezing, I typically do rinse-less washes in the winter however if my car has salt spray on the surface and heavier contaminants I like to incorporate some pre-wash. I like to use the Bilt-Hamber snow foam then follow up with a rinse less wash. I do want to purchase an electric pressure washer Krenzla I could use in my garage like you have but I currently still run into the same issue without a water source in my garage, I would need to have a plumber install a water line. Question your thoughts do you think would be safe to just using the rinse less like the new P&S rinse-less you gave top rating for 2023, or better to bring my car to car wash bay spray Bilt-Hamber snow foam pressure wash off then finish my car in the garage with rinse-less. @PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
You can absolutely use higher pH snow foams on coated vehicles, it's just that I wouldn't use them for regular weekly washes, as there's no point in doing that, and repeated high pH use could potentially start to weaken the protection. A few times a year using BH Touch-Less is fine (I use it on my Porsche every other month with no issues) for deeper cleanings like in spring time. But I wouldn't use the BH at 5% PIR for my bi-weekly washes. I use pH neutral snow foams. Or use the BH at a 2% PIR if you want to use it more often. And by "ceramic coating" I'm assuming you meant a true coating in glass bottle right? Those have higher chemical resistance compared to "spray coatings".

Bilt-Hamber said that they had to use 50 applications before a sealant was gone, so it's pretty safe. Don't forget that even though it's pH 12, it gets diluted quite a lot. Also, why do a contact wash with the foam applied and not pressure wash the foam off first? A lot of the dirt and grime is still underneath the foam. That's why we use a regular soap with bucket washes right? You're one of the few doing it this way I think...

I think you might be confused. I have NEVER just foamed a vehicle and went straight to wash it, without rinsing first... That makes zero sense, and you have not watched my videos if you say things like that lol. If I foam a vehicle, I will always rinse, and then either re-foam and wash, or wash directly after the rinse. An effective pre-wash will remove most of the loose dirt, and grit, and the contact wash is to clean the 15% of dirt still left on a the surface, as a contact wash is ALWAYS needed after the pre-wash, if you want 100% clean surfaces. Watch any of my full car detailing videos: Aston Martin Vantage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXzKkmavj7uHp9E Volvo XC60: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqenc3Wbo82MfKM Tesla Model Y: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naDLnKZurbVohLs Porsche 911 Carrera: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJTOmpysl6ukqZY Audi Q7: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmirdHWJi9OcsK8 There are many ways to wash a vehicle by the way. In my videos, you can see me often use one of my two prefered methods: 1) Foam, rinse, foam, wash. 2) Foam, rinse, wash (if the vehicle is already clean). And sometimes, I'll pre-spray with a rinseless wash, rinse, foam, rinse, wash. So I'm not too sure what you are trying to say here, but after 26 years of detailing vehicles, and having built one of the biggest car detailing channels, I think it's safe to say I know how to wash a car...

In the spirit of just playing devil's advocate on one point - I think you could make an argument against applying the rinseless pre-treat or rinsing first. The way I look at it - the snow foam should be doing that job and putting something on before it would cause the foam to not cling as long and may also dilute it. Soap-foaming your vehicle helps loosen the grime and softens bird droppings, and bug splatter, and a bit of degreasing. Foam, let soak for a few minutes, and rinse. You should do this prior to contact washing. The use of soft water (water softeners) and filtering minerals, iron, and other possible contaminates is preferred if available but most people do not as they either reside in an apartment complex or their home is not set up which is not as simple as Pan has you believing because some people do not have the space or money to purchase all this Auto Detailing equipment. Do the best you can with what you have. Your automobile will never be as perfect as it was coming off the production/assembly line unless you start from scratch and spend a whole lot of money on doing it better than from the factory. Custom built that is, encased in glass or impenetrable container, to never be driven, only showcased. Again, do the best you can with the money you budgeted for keeping and maintaining your vehicle in drivable and clean condition [Safety First]. Just a reminder "Nothing lasts forever!".

When I started detailing at 16 years of age, I didn't have the budget I have today, and still made miracles happen. As I grew older, and my passion for detailing became an obsession, I could afford the better equipment and the more expensive products which allowed me to indulge in my passion further and create a channel too. Great content once again. I would love to see how a manual foam sprayer works with these shampoos Pan. I have tried 3 different soaps in my new Marolex foam sprayer (Marolex Axel FOAMER 2000) and I can't get it to spray consistently for more than 5 seconds. I have played around with the dilution and even reached out to Marolex via email, no support. I know you had a video on their products but not much of the foam sprayer. Thank you as always!

I don't see many of these products on sale in the Netherlands, but I find Gyeon foam to be the best for me out of the ones I've tried. It works ok with a pump sprayer, better than some other brands. For efficiency, it makes removing eg dead insects and most of dirt quite easy when rinsing foam away. Not much dirt left for contact wash.

Look at bilt hamber products. Touchless and touch on are a good pre and main was for Europeans as good value. Gyeon as pan said are also very good options.

I have a mostly touchless method (using a foam canon) going with our Alfa Romeos, but with a couple of special requirements. First and foremost, we had our new house built with a drain and a hot/cold soft water supply. So no sunlight and no hard water, two of the most detrimental factors in my previous 45 years of cleaning cars. I rinse and clean with a pressure washer, which really gets the bug guts, mud and most surprisingly, a lot of the brake dust. The I use the Adam's foam canon using the wonderful Chemical Guys Honeydew soap. At this point, I only use a clean wet mitt to scrub the car, if it had dried road film/salt on it. Otherwise, I let it the foam dwell for 5 minutes or so. I thoroughly rinse with the pressure washer and blow dry. Once a month, I do a final (post blower dry) dry using microfiber towels and P&S Beadmaker. It works wonderfully. The only time I touch our cars 90% of the time is the post blow dry, final towel drying (which isn't much). I think that what makes this method really work is the soft water (an often overlooked issue, IMO) and the P&S Beadmaker. For me, the take-away is that minerals in the water (whether from the wash water supply or embedded in the the road grime) is the real enemy of a "touch-less" wash.

I think 99% of the population doesn't care how great their vehicle looks. They just run it through the automatic car wash. The average person will never even clean their wheels

That is correct. Luckily though, 100% of my audience are that 1% of the population that cares about their vehicle, so we know there's at least one million people who enjoy detailing their vehicles and want to learn how to do it right. :)

The general population doesn’t understand that a dirty car becomes a damaged car if left unattended. Even more misunderstood is how poorly automatic car washes clean (and damage) your car’s finishes. Gotta educate and serve those folks.

Have been using CARPRO products lately and I can say its perfect and gorgeous! I saw you said to only use Lift for weekly basis, recently I have just use CARPRO Elixir on my non coated or ppf car, would like to know that is it safe to use it weekly or once per 2 week? There are some cars I don't drive daily but they are kept outdoors so is it safe to do weekly wash with Carpro lift on those too before I use reset to wash them?

Wow i just learn that i am using Lift a little to much on the summer. I should switch to reset as a foam and clean the car. So i'll use Lift less or when car is really really bad. This is why the other product like Reload didn't stick 2-3 weeks: i was removed it with Lift each month...

i know I'm late to the comments here but I think there are a lot of people like me who don't really care about detailing our cars but just don't want their car to be the dirtiest in the lot. I park under sappy fruit trees at home and live on a gravel road. My paint isn't going to stay pristine no matter how much I care for it. Leaving it parked for 4 hours gets 4 bird poops 20 berries, a layer of sap, snd a film of dust from the drive in and out. I don't have time to do a full wash routine every other day and even if I did I wouldn't care enough to do so. I just want to knock the fresh layer of crap off of it without going to an automated car wash all the time so a quick foam cannon and high pressure rinse does more than I need it to.

I have seen alot of people that have start rinse very dirty car first then apply like chemicals ,in my opinion thats is an bad choice ,better to put like alkaline degreasing/Snow foam and let it do its thing then rinse of and apply it again if the car still is dirty then go to next step.

When I dove into the detailing world I got a foam cannon and used it all the time. Along with the 2 bucket method. Neither of which I use now. If I can’t bust the dirt/debris off with a regular pre-wash rinse then a foam cannon certainly won’t help. Your videos are always worth a watch and I watch them for a lot of decision making when I am on the fence. Appreciate you, sir!

I absolutely take your points about pH neutral chemicals. However, I just go straight to BH Autofoam and adjust the dilution ratio. 4% winter 2% summer. And I now use it through an ik sprayer. It really is that good! As you say, go with what you enjoy!

Hi Pan if i am rinsing the snow foam (in my case GSF) does the lubrication stays for the contact wash? My other question ;what about using the NanoMagic Shampoo in a foam canon for pre wash ? Thanks for your great work. Rgds Tamas
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Ай бұрын
If you want more lubrication for the contact wash, you re-foam. So you do the first snow foam, let it dwell, rinse, then re-foam, and then do the contact wash. You'd have Gsf in your bucket too. I don't use the NanoMagic shampoo so I have no recommendations on that. Welcome to my channel.
