Snow in L'Anse! 3/28/2024

While snow is very pretty sun and warmth is what I desire at this point in the Spring! Next weekend it starts to warm up and I hope that is for the season so I can catch the CN in other locations!

The variations of the temperatures and precipitation this winter has been like having the kids playing with the thermostat on the wall. I guess we have a good chance for weather like you just had tomorrow because it's opening day for the Brewers. I remember many a game being snowed or rained out and others just plain cold. Some of those empties going back were seen on the videos coming north around Neenah with their loads so by the time you added switching in Green Bay and the fact it's not daily service it probably was a week. Also made note of a couple grungy looking covered hoppers that could be headed here

AS I have said Richard-the L'Anse CN is my main shoot -the next closest location is two hours away and everything else is even further-that being said I go to Marquette tomorrow-we'll see what we find!

22:46 Car with no visible road number, either on the car side or the end. But maybe it's been erased by video compression -- that does seem to happen, sometimes.

I wonder if that's a little white card near the left hand rail that has the reporting Mark and Road number on it. Thankfully the ACI scanner must be working to keep track of it. In the last few months notice that many of the WC gondolas have been restencilled as 25 years of rust and dirt have taken their toll. Ironically the last car the stencil looks like it's off the Union Pacific the number style that was common throughout the 60s and 70s. Just think Nancy of the shop people rolling out a DSS&A stencil at the Marquette shops on an ore Jenny!

Hi Nancy, very fine work. Thank you for bringing a bit of the Great White North right into my living room once again. Snow on Easter? Well, I live way down state, about 70 miles from the Ohio border. On March 13, 1981 I had just moved into the house I'm in now. There was snow on the ground, but it was giving up it's grip. On this day March 30, 1981 we watched in horror as John Hinkley Jr shot President Reagan. It was a slow spring, but not far from normal. However, in my little bug tussle town there has always been a Memorial Day parade, and that particular year my daughter marched in it with the school band and then sang in a little tiny out door pavilion in the park where the parade always ends. It was sort of raining, then it started snowing. It snowed those great big wet globs of snow. Daughter Wife and I went home to our brand new house and huddled under an electric blanket while we sat on the couch trying to warm up. Hot Chocolate for each of us. My Son came along that fall. Snow is pretty when it comes at the right time. Ha, like it's going to take orders. OK, FB, see you trackside. Happy Easter lady. ben/ from under da bridge.

Happy Easter, Nancy and Jim! I watched this video on Easter Sunday. You had a nice railfanning day at L'Anse. Michigan in a snowy 28 March 2024. I do not think that it was snowing as hard as it appeared in the video. You were using the zoom mode on your camera during a lot of the filming. The zoom mode made it look like the snow of coming down heavier.

Yes and no-while the zoom does increase the snow at times it was coming down heavy enough I coudl barely see down the rails.
