We take a Christmas Day Overland trip in our #2ndgensequoia to Central Washington to visit a very special place called Frenchman Coulee. As we were headed to our spot, a very heavy snow storm rolled in and I was just so excited to get us to the spot. By being so focused on our destination I didn’t realize how scary the road down would be with snow and ice on the road and it almost turned our fun family overland trip into a deadly one.
Luckily we made it out with no damage, and a serious life lesson when it comes to Overlanding in the snow. 1. Don’t put yourself ON A HILL when it snows and 2. Bring better recovery gear. It took us 2 hours to move 1/4 mile downhill just because we were playing it safe.
