Thousands of people singing in unison, orchestrated by one man with a guitar; the man who wrote the song. I cannot imagine the feeling when thousands of people are singing words that you originally sang. You know you've made it in life, you know you've captured the emotions, the imagination, the passion within those people. What I find even more incredible is that, words put to some chords can create such an emotion, such a communal affair... That those simple words can bring a tear to the most emotionless person. It's beautiful

This was the first song I learnt to play on guitar and sing as a 9 year old. I remember my teacher showing me it at school. I came home that night and my dad asked me what I’d done in my guitar lesson. I told him that I had learnt to play and sing “Run” by Snowpatrol. And he was immediately so excited to hear me play it. I asked why. He told me it was his favourite song ever, and it was the first and last song he saw me play. He passed away a year later. And I played the song at his funeral. That was 7 years ago. Now it’s our song. Gary Lightbody- you gave us this song. The song my Dad was sent home to. Thank you. 🙏🏻

Totally agree with you, not to mention that Gary wrote this at the age of 15 in his bedroom. It's about being so lost in your life and you have no idea just who you are or if you'll ever realize your dreams. You're so young and terrified you'll amount to nothing in life, and then your loved ones step in and say "light up" and this is unconditional support no matter what. Those words are what Gary imagined his family would say to him, and they did. He's a incredible songwriter and has the ability to reach deep into everyone with his music and lyrics.

I have bipolar. And sometimes I come back to this. It gives me goosebumps. Like, one man can make lyrics for 40,000 people. It's inspiring

Oxygen 2009 was my first festival! I was there- no phones just the best live gig. That year was unreal. The killers, Lady gaga, kings of Leon and Katy Perry played amongst others! Such a line up… terrible weather but nobody cared. I’m off to snow patrol in thomand park in July. I’m alot older now but I will still give it socks like we did that night!

I have to say goodbye to my best friend for 13years, my dog Mamba. And while she was flying to angels at vet i was listening this. She find her peace and i will never forget her. She was my first and only puppy 🙏🏼🥲🐶

Was there in the pit that day near the lad with the Irish Flag , this song and chasing cars were probably 2 of the best live moments i've witnessed in my entire life... even though the weather was crap , it didn't bring down the crowd's mood one bit. Even Gary (lead singer/guitarist ) said it was one of the best crowds to be in front of in his life. EPIC

This is why it annoys me so much when some artists don't come to Ireland on their world tours ! I mean look at us we're such an unreal crowd !
@prettygirlx46168 жыл бұрын
this was in 2009 now everyone is holding their phones and filming no one sings along or enjoys the damn concert
@maggie142358 жыл бұрын
+pretty girlx actually we're not as bad as other places a lot of concerts I've been too recently, of course have had people filming some parts, but it wasn't like a sea of phones. And the crowds are still just as loud and sing a long just as much.
