I reckon this is the best Tarp set up I have come across. Do you know a better tarp, please let me know in the comments?
@Outbackbogan6 жыл бұрын
best tarp set up for what price you paying ?? to keep dry plain an simple .. many a tarp will do the job until rain past etc .. spending a shit load of cash Is dumb .. it all comes down to if ya hike on foot or drive and can carrry space etc
@blackers106 жыл бұрын
Even if you drive you are still limited to space etc. Not needing 45 poles an ropes make it a bonus.@@Outbackbogan

For $700 I think the price is a bit stupid really. I can get a standard tarp for a lot cheaper, even a 6x6 gazebo is less than $300.

@@Outbackbogan yea I Travel nearly 5 months of the year so for me, it's not just keeping dry but many more things like convenience, quick set up and pack downtime, weight and size do matter in a car especially if you do long trips or travel with a family. I would not call it dumb spending money on quality gear

Great looking tarp , as you said good pegs are the key . My $100 Silver Bunnings tarp hasn't let me down yet (been times when its needed reinforcing) $700 is a bit rich for me , its a very impressive set up all the same . Great review Stefan .

Well worth it. Gave it a maiden on a shooting trip. A cold front came through, I thought for sure it was a goner or at least be damaged. Not a thing went wrong. It’s tuff.

Yea I was concerned on our first night as we had a reasonable storm come trough with quite a bit rain and wind but with good pegs I did not need to worry.

First weekend we used ours, there was a huge overnight rain storm, it held up beautifully. We were super dry, rain poured off at each of the six points and channelled away, it was a very muddy site. About half of the campers left in the morning after their gazebos gave way. We just had our swag under it and it was awesome, the water literally flies off with the coating that is on the outside of the hexa tarp.
@AlloffroadAu3 жыл бұрын
That is awesome! I also had my one in some heavy rain and it kept us all dry.

Great review Thanks for sharing. A mate of mine has the Hexa Tarp Evo Pro but Im looking at a smaller model for solo camping as I dont want an awning hanging off the side of my vehicle. What size would you recommend ?
@AlloffroadAu6 жыл бұрын
Evaluating that myself currently for the Canning Trip. I probably still go with a large always good to have cover and set up would be the same

Great video! Which would you prefer for one night overnight stays...this tarp or a 270 awning?
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
Depends, if it's just a quick one, the awning is quicker. If you have more time, need more space and it rains you can do way more under the Hexa Tarp but need a wet bag to pack it in in the wet.

@@AlloffroadAu thanks. Good point re the wet bag 👍

Which sand pegs are those?

Hey mate, do you still think something like this is a good option? I'm making adjustments to my set up where nothing is on the roof anymore so that I can remove my roof rack and awning, this would save me so much weight but I'm not sure if the setup of these tarps would get annoying if I had to set them up every camping trip. I had my eyes on the drifta hexatarp as they're a bit more affordable and have heard good things about them also
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
yes mate still love it and uses it on every family camping trip
@gregdogg10 Жыл бұрын
They take 10mins to setup the first time , 5 mins the second time. That’s with 1 person. I have the Drifta version it’s so good

Hi! Which size oegs did you get? 20cm or 30cm or 40cm or 50cm?

I’d go with longest pegs the trap needs solid pegs

I could name half dozen tarps off me head .,, one tarp are we looking at super light ???.. 1/dd tarp 2/ aqua quest king camo witch I have myself .. 3/Bunnings pollytuff 3 yr warranty silver d ring heavy duty tarp any size.any condition for 7x5 5x5=$130 huge tarp for week or more stays still got after 6 yrs etc ..it’s really all, about on what area you really need to cover to use for how long etc .. in my out door opinion if your in for short stays then small tarp to get through .. if in long stays e.g. then big tarp to use as your main rec area etc etc for sun rain etc
@AlloffroadAu6 жыл бұрын
I'm talking about a complete package with reasonable size, weight and easy setup and pack down. I will need to look in aqua king camo, I have a DD good tarp but still as a package not as good as Hexa, requires more poles, and takes far longer to set up. Pollytuff is no comparison at all, in my opinion, have 10 of them in the shed in many sizes and qualities from grey with metal eyelids to blue super heavy duty blue. I never carry them anymore take up for to much space, unpractical, need tons of poles and guy ropes. Good if you need a cover over a camper or stay somewhere for a few weeks but as a quick, reasonably light and space-saving set up no way...

Appears to offer plenty of drainage and looks inconspicuous in the bush. Seems to me, to offer more coverage than the popular pop up gazebo. Certainly better looking 😁 so money well spent.

I'd prefer a Coleman Ezyup tent. Has all the benefits of a tarp and none of the drawbacks, and it's cheaper.

Hm, that’s a tent though much bigger and heavy to carry, far less room inside not really an alternative in my eyes
