That was hard to watch with Timber struggling! He’s a lucky dog to have you care for him and to have all these adventures. I’ve watched the struggle with friends with aging dogs who have hiked and backpacked for years and love it and how hard to begin leaving them behind when the time comes. I saw an earlier comment that he’s on some meds and doing better. That makes me happy!

It is tough watching him age. I wish we could be with me forever! He has been great hiking partner, but he's not hanging up the pack just yet. In fact (spoiler alert) he'll return to the channel next week!

Good to see that Timber made it out without you having to carry him. It's always sad to see a dog's physical capabilities decline. It's great that he's had so many adventures in his lifetime. Looking forward to seeing him join you on easier hikes (if he's up for it).

It was tough to watch him hobble around camp. Turns out that he has developed arthritis in his back and that was flaring up. He is on some meds now, and it has really made a difference

Great views up on Snow Peak, mountains in every direction. I'm amazed that helicopter could land there, not very much room. The watch tower looks like it's seen better days. Sorry about Timber but glad he was able to make it out. Dan was a good hiking partner to arrive at the pre arranged rendezvous point. Thanks Travis!

Yeah, the Snow Peak Lookout is in rough shape. Maybe someone will restore it before mother nature takes care of it.

Glad Timber is ok. Awesome shots of the lookout and helicopter for sure. Glad also Shastabubba didnt have to do an emergency catheter. That was a crazy epeisode of his....made me hurt in places. 😅

One of the saddest days of my life was when I decided to hang up my hiking buddies pack. Uysless had been my constant companion for 10 years, and even though he lived another four years, every time I grabbed my bag to head to work he would get all excited....thinking we were doing to go hiking again. Great video...take care of Timber and yourself.....

I can feel that! That day is approaching for me / us. Timber has been one of the best dogs that I have ever had and the best hiking companion. It will be a sad day when it happens.

Beautiful scenery -tough hike. I hope Timber is ok 🐕‍🦺. He's getting up there in years for a large dog and maybe he should be doing easier hikes. Give him a hug for me.

It was really great hiking with you! It felt like we'd been hiking together for years, even though it was just the first time. We didn't get our camp time to hang out, though I might've taken long enough breaks that it counted as our camp time! Back to the Mallard Larkins next year!

Timber is doing great! He missed out on a longer trip I did this fall, but he and I have been back in the mountains and he did great!

We took him to the vet and he said that Timber has arthritis in his spine. He is on some medication now and is running around like a puppy

Finally, a campsite I've been to. The fishing at the Trapper's cabin is great. We went from the West side of the river, parking at the Buzzard Roost Saddle. Rough country and trails are all overgrown down near the river.

Last time we were at the trapper's cabin, we slayed them on the Little North Fork! I've never been in from that side, but there are quite a few more places in there that I would like to explore!

It gets crazy back in Fohel creek drainage. Lived up in that hole for a summer in the chickadee cabin before the joker peak fire that also burnt to the bottom of buzzards roost

I haven't watched this yet, but I'm getting ready to. The ashes of both my grandparents are up there on Snow Peak Thank you for sharing and for all your videos. I've been to so many of the places you have shown. Also, thank you for the videos right across the road from our Cabin up on the North fork. Those are great to watch.

Timber is back to his normal self. He's been taking it easy for the last month. We even got an extra trip in!

Great vid Travis. Glad to see Timber make it out ok. When my dogs or horses got stoved up like that, I would treat them with Cosequin. Works really well especially for older animals. Me......I got the "Buffalo" for my ache joints.

Dan was great! We were lucky to be hiking with him when all of this happened! Timber went to the vet and got a check up. He got some pain pills for arthritis and has been feeling great ever since.

Going on the Smith Ridge route is way better. It’s a constant uphill but the trail is way better. Heart Lake is one of the best camping areas as the other trails to Larkins and Crag Lake are overgrown.
