There are so many people that plow snow in my area cheap it's not worth it do well to break even a couple of years ago I had to replace pump and cylinders this year it was front tires

I kinda like that plow on your truck just not sure if I’m sold on it. I’m just use to the plow angling left and right what I did notice is one blade forward and one back and snow runs off. Short runs it all stays inside. Definitely keep making videos of that plow in action it has my attention 👍👍👍

I was wiring a house for a Fireman, in Iowa, back in the mid 1980,s. He also plowed snow on his days off. He was plowing after a 4” snow when the guy from the house next door came out and said that he just moved in and needed to get out for a meeting. The plow operator said he had a client list to get to first. The neighbor asked if he could get plowed out for $150. The neighbor made it to his meeting on time and became a regular customer.

we all have different experiences and they are all valid. i have a great property management company that i do jobs for and even with 25 accounts i rarely get called about anything and if i do, its usually something that i can charge them for. i have a few residentials and thats where i get calls. the city plow left a berm they want it removed for free, they moved their cars can i come back, they moved their garbage cans can i come back. so awkward saying i'll come back for for no less than $50.

I have 62 accounts here in the twin cities. Roseville, Maplewood, Little Canada, North Saint Paul, Lake Elmo, Stillwater, Shoreview, North Oaks, Mendota Heights, Apple Valley 95 % have shoveling. The other 5% is driveway only. It takes me and the shoveler 12hrs. 2," to 6" 6 to 12 16hrs to 24

That seems like a large area. Why cross the river to Apple Valley and Mendota Heights? I would spend some money to market in your target neighborhoods.

I do driveway plowing in big lake with a four wheeler and it works great. I make decent money too. I got a few quick questions for you. 1 you charge $60 per plow? Does that include shoveling sidewalks? And my second question is do you charge more for a gravel driveway or for a really long driveway?
@GarrettWilliams20172 жыл бұрын
Yes we charge 60 per plow and it includes sidewalks! We don’t charge more for gravel..

How many inches a yr so you average. I’m about 125” a season we get about 25-30 pushes a season I wish we could charge 60$ but our market is about half that unfortunately.
@GarrettWilliams20172 жыл бұрын
We get 40-60” per year I think. Bout 17 pushes roughly
@byronsmail17662 жыл бұрын
25 to 30 pushes would be nice. That's where you make money in snow. We get about 5 to 10 average here in Central PA. It sucks anymore waiting for snow money
@jandblawncare85702 жыл бұрын
How much snow do you average a season, Around here your lucky to get 20 bucks for a 2 car driveway (roughly 15x30) but if your only plowing them 10 times a season I get it. Around my area there's a lot of "Rick's in wrecks" or a few older guys who still think 12 bucks is a good price. We average about 120" so its not unreasonable to plow a residential 25-30 times a season. Residential accounts can be very profitable if you have the numbers and a tight route. Back in the day we did somewhere around 60 driveways give or take and it paid 1k a round and took a guy who did the majority of them (45 or so) maybe 4'ish hours as 75% of those were in a 2 mile radius. Over the years we've kept some of the same customers but most have either died or moved and now down to 20 or os but they're becoming a burden more than they're worth (because everyone is your only customer) and sorry but commercial accounts are definitely priority.

Same for me! People think $20 is to high haha

By the time you factor in the cost of the truck, maintenance, plow, storage, insurance, gas, etc, you might as well be doing anything else other than plowing at those rates. There is not enough left over worth being a slave to snow. What that means is that your life's schedule is dictated by snowfall. You live your life around snowfall predictions. The stress is not worth those monetary crumbs. I do not know your particular situation, but it does not sound like it makes mathematical sense.
