There were refrigerated trailers using this lot. Reefer loads are time sensitive. Most dry van loads can wait... Hence, a customer's need for frequent scrapings, rather than one-hit wonders. We over the road drivers get sent onto lots at all hours. It only takes a pitcher's mound hump to get hung up with supersingle drive tires anywhere in the country. You guys did a beautiful job . No doubt the drivers appreciated it!

Can't believe how satisfying it is to just sit and watch this stuff hour after hour. It's so calming. I want to be able to just swing around and drive the other direction instead of backing up in the car. That would be so freeing! Can't figure out how it could be done with a setup for passengers.

Your a smart man and I under your situation, as I'm the same way. Why dump 10 grand into a truck mounted plow, wear and tear on your truck for a twice a year snow. Using your set up may take longer and burn more fuel, but for Pete's sake people, it's paid for. And further more the wear on the equipment is alot less than these cheap framed trucks they build now. Northern plow guys make big money with big set ups, this guy is making dirt road dollars with dirt road haulers, Keep it up man

What's a plow running now, $4,000. So let's say 4 grand for a plow, another grand for at least a set of all terrain tires, another grand for a junk out truck front end, and another 4 grand for a face Palm knowing you had a backhoe and tractor that could do the same...lol. maybe I over priced

A.C Burke try more like $8k for a new plow. $1500 for a cheap burner truck, thousands more for a proper truck. Don't forget the plow mount, that's at least another $500-$800. Another commentator said it best and recommended a snow cage for that backhoe. That's how it's done in bigger lots with larger machinery at least. Getting everything used, outside of tires for a cheap plow truck can be done for as little as $5k, including the truck, less if you're real lucky. Your better plow truck setups will have an average starting cost of $20k and up.

We used to run two trucks on each side of a payloader with a push box across the wall mart parking lot. Didn’t do it all the time just once or twice to say we did. I pushed parking lots with my B26 for years. I pushed with my angle blade rotated to the rear and “ backed” the snow where I wanted it. I used my four in one to clear side walks and pull snow out of parking spaces. I had bought a Kubota Grand L 4750 with a cab the last time it snowed in December (2010) thinking we might have winter. It didn’t snow for four years and my bush hogging dried up during the awful Obama economy so I sold it and my L4400. I loved those tractors. Still have the 26

Some one else in the comments mentioned the grader and no cab, not having a cab and not having heat isn't a problem, it's below 32F (0C) but it isn't horrible, some guys work year round outside no matter how cold. There in North Carolina it was probably 30F (-1C) for the snowfall, kids play outside all day at those temperatures.

1990', Rochester, NY. My first paycheck from plowing with my own F250 was 1800 bucks. Not including driveways and smallish C-stores. Just plowing for Wegman's. Our local grocery store and warehouse. Buddy, it was nice making a pile of money for having fun in my own truck and listening to music. I built a 9' wood bed on that truck and added a 90 gallon fuel tank just behind the cab. Once I'd get to the site, I'd have the loader put a load on my bed and probably 90% of the time I was plowing in 2wd. Other guys didn't believe me until they got into my truck and they shifted it. I think I made somewhere in the $400.00 range betting I was in 2WD!! Other guys tried it, but didn't have the suspension to handle the weight. That 250 had several extra leaves front and back. The best part, we had a deal that whomever needed gas bought coffee for all. I NEVER had to run for fuel!! lol..... Build it right or don't bother....... ;)

Haha, in NM and we a good 8-10" and I had a days worth of work for my backhoe. It's all about location and having the equipment ready to go when the calls come in. We are expecting more in a couple days so I'm hoping to be back to work making denero (North of the 'Wall"). Doesn't matter to me if they want 1/2" or 2ft dug out, if they're paying, I'm burning diesel! We don't get these often but when we do people panic and want it scrapped before the sun comes out so it will melt faster and they keep business. Same here, the city only plows the 'major' or more used roads, county and state, only the ones they feel like. Getting around isn't a problem, having enough people and equipment when the storm hits is. At least we can still work whatever the weather. Happy New Year all!!!

They would call us in on a early Sunday morning and plow till whenever. Come back at 3 in the morning and plow till 7 o'clock in the morning. The maintenance guys used loaders with pushers, sometimes the roadgrader. Pickup truck and a plow and skidsteer. Spread some salt. They would tear up so much stuff. Hardest place to plow was all the railroad crossings. Nothing like stopping on a dime. Maybe you need a snowblower on back of your new tractor and a plow on the front. Some wheel weighs as well

A typical winter over here on Spud Island so far. But I have pushed snow from PEI to Ont to Alberta to BC to the Yukon. People do tend to get panicky down south over a few flakes. Hell I used to walk 7.4 kms in Red Deer in the winter to get to work. I love Canada!

Should get a push box to put on that backhoe they make ones that you don’t even have to take the bucket off

The company I work for had a 410 hoe with a 12’ pusher for snow, got use to unlocking the brakes and steering with them. Reminded me of that machine watching you guys work.

I don't know how much money there is in snow plowing where you're at. The thing that have is the type of snow blade that you put on the skid steer loader that box blade arrangement that really works good.

Snow just plain sucks!! I plowed for 30 plus years and give up 32 accounts 3 years ago. Kept 3 to justify plow truck for my shop and parents house. Up here in NWPA, they have designated snow pile areas at convenience stores that are a friggin joke. You can usually fill them first snow event and no one wants to have it hauled out. Good job on the plowing though Chris!

Chris, love your channel, but ,your a hot mess! You can put the kiote on another job, just buy a 14' push box for the 310,those are big lots, your pissing into the wind, you are all about working smarter, take it from someone that has pushed snow for 40 years in the northeast!

You might want to look into to putting rimguard in all 4 tractor tires. That would give it some much needed weight and will be cheaper than wheel weights. If you get more snow than me for a 4th year in a row, I'm gonna find something else to do in the winter.

it is important to identify where the surface intake drains are. buried they just make a mess with ice lakes when it melts. I have seen free water flowing from under a snow pile in sub zero (f) degree outside temps.

No offense, I realize everything is relative but hearing you say 4-5 (when it looks more like 1-3) and then using words like overwhelming makes us northern folks chuckle a bit. It doesn't seem worth burning diesel fuel to scrape those tiny amounts given it will probably all be melted in a day. Like I said, it's all relative I guess. :-)
