I'll never get used to a landscape without trees. Very different from where I live. V-plow would be handy I bet.

Always good to see a group of neighbors working together. During the winter months my neighbors & I do the same thing. Looks like you pretty much had the CASE loader figured out. Any word on the door for the cab?? That Bobcat "V" blade will be an awesome attachment for the CASE loader next winter. Looking forward to seeing what modifications had to be done. Thanks for sharing & take care.

seems like planted tree lines along the fence would catch a lot of those drifts and keep it in the fields.

A plow on that loader would cut your plowing time in half! I look forward to seeing that plow in action 🙂

before i ever had a plow i bought a big old steel pipe short and cut in half lengthways and made it a permanent v plow and set it up to be hooked to a bucket on my loader and it worked

i USED TO PUSH SNOW WITH A MAX 1V ATV, I'D SIMPLY TURN THE PLOW TO ONE SIDE, AND MAKE TRACKS. RETURNING, I'D TURN THE PLOW THE OTHER WAY. AFTER 3 PASSES I COULD HAVE A LONG DRIVEWAY LOOKING GOOD AGAIN.

Road surface should be at least one foot above the surrounding terrain = less or minimal drift buildup

I’m glad the Case is working out for you. I have a Case skiddy and it puts a smile on my face every time I use it.

I lived in Laramie for 2 years while going to school. The wind out there is crazy. A freshly plowed road could have 3ft back on it in a matter of 1/2 hr. I never ran equipment there, but in eastern Nebraska, I have a Deere skid, and a 8ft western blade I made to fit the skid loader with hyd tilt. I’ve used v plows before, they are nice. But for my application the straight blade works better behind the skid loader. We had a mild winter this year, I didn’t have to move snow at all! Last winter it was every week.

We buried the neighbors 4490 Case with angle blade last week. Mind you the drift was at least 5 ft tall. Slid him right off the road into the ditch. Then we had 21 000 lbs to pull out of the ditch.

Everyone I know that has road to clear has a plow to mount on their loaders, some are fixed directional plows, others have hydraulic angle. I don’t even like clearing my driveway with a bucket. I have a v on my truck, it is nice when you run out of traction being able to break through, otherwise I use it as a straight blade if the front end is getting pushed around. I always thought you wanted the banks upwind to act as a snowfence. The wind goes over and the snow drops right beside it.

pushing snow to the downwind side of the road will prevent future deep snow accumulation. if you pile it on the upwind side you will create a drift as tall as the pile you create.

A loader is the slowest way to remove snow. I can clear my road in a fraction of the time by using a blower or even an angle blade.

Blake I built a V plow for our S130 last winter. 100% recommend; I can plow faster than some of the neighborhood tractors now

Plowing takes time. Dad had a floating t plow on the Model R. It hung from the tractor with logging chains. We had the bucket on the 4020 and on the 4240. You are 100% correct. Those snow piles need to be back away from the road to protect it from drifting off the piles and from runoff. I imagine most of your wind is out of the west. That wheel loader is a great little machine. Be careful with heavy loads because you don't need to be cracking welds. An excellent video! Thanks, Blake.

Those rubber tow ropes are really good at yanking vehicles out of snow I have one and really have a good review about it. It is not a yankem but similar.

I’ve used loaders for years in my snow removal business and your loader will do pretty well for what your plowing and you looked pretty comfortable using it …..one handed . I use a John Deere 444-G loader and a ten foot pusher …great for parking lots , not so good for plowing roads . The big key to moving deeper snow is the weight of the loader more weight less resistant. The V plow will work well once you have pushed down through the deep snow with just the bucket, then switch to the V and even if the wind is filling it back you can make more passes to keep winging it back , I’ve tried a V and a 10 foot angle on my loader , I preferred the angle. Thanks for sharing

People always say "but without government, who will plow the roads?"... When people know they have to fend for themselves and rely on one another, they successfully do just that. I'd happily take road maintenance duty on my time off if it means I don't have to pay taxes.

you definitely have your work cut out for you. I've seen guys using road graders as well a someone had a D-9. But they had some serious snow to move. The D-9 earned its keep The road grader worked great also, and I'm wondering if that could be a option for you.

We call bucket loader clearing J bites. Tedious but effective. As the bucket loads turn n dump. Was going to bitch about your windrows and what you left and like 6 minutes into the video you learned. Log skidders n bulldozer type clearing not truck type plow. Then Dman end of vid....that's gonna be the way if you have shoes and get some time on the machine and a door.

First snow you've ever had in Wyoming? I know better than that. What would happen if someone got seriously ill or there was some other health emergency? You folks should get something together to deal with situations like this. Maybe form a government of some kind.

When one lives in a rural area, one has to accept a degree of personal responsibility. Most people who cheer for more government wouldn’t understand that.
