Hello Blake, While a blower is a one purpose implement, I remember watching your videos for many years facing similar drifting and clearing challenges pretty much every year. I am thinking you idea of an older farm tractor with a rear blower is a reasonable compromise. That is what we use. Older utility tractor with old Meyer truck plow on the front plus 85" blower on the back. Neighbor often windrows the road to the sides and I blow the snow where we don't have to deal with it again. Good combination of effort. We originally bought the blower for a windy mountain road. Pickup truck plowing the snow off the bank on the inside of a sharp corner was hard work, especially with 13-15" of snow falling twice a week. Berms started back, but unable to be kept back. The blower made it much easier to get the snow off the road and mostly where it would not be needing to move again. We are very happy to have it. Well used with many good hours of clearing done. Anyway, just my opinion and experience. I sure appreciate your videos. You are likely the second channel I subscribed to when I first began using KZbin, and likely the only original channel I am still subscribed to. Thank you for sharing the content.

As you know, a plow is fast and effective, UP TO A POINT, on the FIRST snow of the season. But after you've established berms of plowed snow, ... and they start to blow shut again, ... You're SCREWED. You can't plow more snow up out of the path you've already established. So you clear it out a bucket full at a time, ... OR ... blow the pathway out. Like so many things, you don't ALWAYS want or need a snowblower, ... BUT WHEN YOU DO, ... they're very useful.

I’ve got a 7’ snowblower behind my 2015 Kioti RX 7320PCC. Glad I have it because we’ve had a lot of snow here in SW Minnesota this winter.

Moving snow with a bucket sucks. Use the right tool for the job. I run a tilt straight blade on a 75hp 4x4 tractor front loader with a blower on the back.

I have a half mile private road into my yard. The road is only a couple feet above the level of fields on each side. I defiantly HAVE to have a snow blower especially here in North Dakota were close to 90 inches snow after March 11th storm.

yes sometimes have to get out of a skidloader boom high off the ground cut the frozen net wrap off bales before loading them in the mixer/round bale feeders its dangerous lady luck is needed cattle especially bulls are not afraid to run you down even attack at that moment

I live in Canada with lots of snow on a similar road as yours. I used a skid steer with blower 1 pas in each direction does the job. I've used a tractor with rear blower same thing but it's tough on the neck with a rear pto blower. However the front of the tractor with an angled snow blade takes care of the lighter snowfalls. So it's up to you. If you could get an snow plow on the loader that would be good too. Good luck.

I've been pretty happy with my pull-behind blower behind my tractor. But I don't deal with the amount of drifting you do, and also am in the mountains with a narrow road - not many spots I could turn a big loader around!

It's always good to have OPTIONS, when it comes snow removal. The bucket & "V" plow are probably the best options for your loader. It's good that you & your neighbors can work together to keep the private lane cleaned out. The old farm tractors or the compact tractors are good options to also have just for their versatility of having loader or blade options & the variety of attachments to use on the 3 point. Surely you could build an adapter to make a rear pto operate a snowblower from the front. I have seen a few systems for small tractors but never for a larger tractor. There must be something if you were inclined to want it. All that turning around though, makes my neck hurt too much to do it for any length of time.

i have always said tractor loaders are for lifting not pushing or digging. i am not talking about industrial tractor loaders like a case 580. i am talking about farm tractors with a quick drop loader they are not designed for pushing. when i was last looking for a loader tractor for loading bales in the field i seen so many with grapple buckets that you can tell they used to blow out drifts with it there was tweaked, loaders starting to buckle, loader frame, cracking out. every thing. and this wasn't one brand it was case loaders, john Deere loaders, massey loaders, and after market like quickie, alo, leon, ezee-on, westendorf, didn't matter. if you are going to use a tractor for moving slow the only way is a subframe blade or a snow blower.

I'm very surprised that you don't have a snowblower. Plowing only works if you can push it back far enough away from the road. If berms build up and freeze, you can't push the snow back any farther. It seems your driveway would drift in fairly easily anyways being where you are located.

Hey Blake, I'm almost positive you have thought of this, but any chance snow fence would help with those drifts? I'm thinking the land owners along the road would have to agree. I too live on a private road and it's all hands on deck with myself and neighbors when the big snow flies. I'd really like to get a 3pt snow blower for next winter.

Any synthetic rope on ebay or amazon is much better. For example a regular 1/2" polyester double braid rope is around 9k lbs.. but a Dyneema rope the same size is 55k lbs. (something in the ball park). It's worth buying synthetic ropes.. Yankum ropes are "synthetic prices, but with only a normal polyester or nylon rope. Dyneema (in any brand) is the material to get-- but it does cost a little more.. but you will not break it, given that it's the correct size.
