Had this on VHS when I was a kid in the 90's, I watched it so much the tape started messing up. I've thought about this movie nearly everyday since then. This is my absolute favorite version of Snow White. Every time I've ever tried to describe to anyone, no one else remembered it. I've searched for it a couple times over the years but had no idea it was actually from 1955. I'm so happy to be able to watch it again, I almost cried when I found it, Thanks for uploading this!!

It was my favorite I watched the VHS tape every single day till it broke. I tried searching for it online for years & nothing would ever come up in search results. I just randomly came across it today all these years later & my heart skipped a beat. It's amazing how many of us grew up with this almost "secret movie" and were obsessed! (I'm a 90s kid too.) Oh my gosh!!!!! I couldn't imagine that I could watch this again ever!!!! My auntie who lives in USA sent this video to me as birthday gift when I was 5 who are living in Korea! I watched this video almost every day, even I couldn't understand the English at all and I so loved this snow white version than any other versions. Never remember seeing this version . Had the Disney version as a kid in the early 1960's, which was a record album with an exclusive story book accompanying it inserted in the album jacket from the Disney version of the animated movie to read along with listening to the record, which was super cool to do, n my sister Linda still has these series of Disney albums from our childhood, but I Ve never seen this before!!! This version is truer to the original tale by the Brothers Grimm. They left out only two parts, probably because they are pretty gruesome. The queen demands the lungs and liver of Snow White, the huntsman substitutes those of a young boar, and the queen has them salted and cooked and then eats them. The queen attends the wedding feast of Snow White, where they put her in a pair of red-hot shoes that burn her feet, and she is compelled to dance until she drops dead. Otherwise this is the Brothers Grimm's tale.

To Betsy (and Frances) I think Betsy means that the tale is the original version with details that Disney didn't include. She doesn't mean that this movie came out first. I appreciate it too, Betsy, very sweet version BUT-- Wouldn't it have been great if MGM had kept some of the munchkins employed and shot more films with them? They went to all the trouble to gather them, and they were so happy together... They could have made Snow White, Snow White and Rose Red, Rumpelstiltskin, the Elves and the Shoemaker, Darby o'Gill, maybe a Scandinavian tale about the Tomten or the trolls... maybe even the Hobbit. Such a waste! They were so talented and dear!

This is incredible. I must watch it. 😅 If you want to review some wacky finds, here's a list of my absolute favorites I watched obsessively as a 5 year old. They range from the 50s - 80s, and most of them are foreign films dubbed in English (with disturbing but entertaining voices). Thanks to grandma for introducing them! *Here Comes Santa Claus (now known as I Believe in Santa Claus) with Karen Cheryl - 1984. My fave. Involves an ogre, fairies, parents kidnapped in Africa rescued by Santa, child labor (by said ogre), elves, and a small boy grieving said parents. Think it was originally a French film. My mom and I still sing the theme song to one another to this day. 😂 *Pippi Longstocking (1969. Originally Swedish/West German dubbed in English. With Inger Nilsson). Includes mop shoes, a polka dotted horse, and two creepy robbers or policemen spying on Pippi ( I forget which) that make you wonder what direction the film is headed in (it doesn't go that way, so it's safe). *The Magic Christmas Tree (1964. Director Richard C. Parish). Involves a talking Christmas tree, a wicked witch with her cat stuck in a tree, a magic ring, firetruck trace, a turtle on his own adventure, and terrible acting. *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (or Schneewittchen und die 7 Zwerge) - 1955. Directed by Erich Kobler. West German film with all the classic Snow White plot twists, just...old.
