@@Yasin_Affandi Yes, I’ve used both and you know what, they’re equally soft. Here I use butter because ghee is not easy to find. 😊

Here, in the States, this type of cookie is known as either Mexican Wedding Cookies (though, these usually have pecans, sometimes walnuts), and also are known as Russian Tea Cakes !! I'm from NM (New Mexico) and we've been known to make these with Piñon (pine nuts) the Piñon Tree is our States Official Tree ! These cookies don't contain any milk. Just butter, flour, nuts, and powdered or icing sugar.

Yes, these cookies have different names based on the country and there’s always a different take to it. But no matter, what we all can say is, they’re so delicious 🤤😁!

it's called kahk in Egypt we make it in Eid elfiter. sometimes we make it with nuts or stuffed with Turkish delight

That’s nice to know! In Malaysia we have another version with stuffed crushed peanuts called Biskut Makmur.
@chaimaeb Жыл бұрын
in Morocco we make them the same way but with crushed toasted nuts (peanut/almond) *and another version nut free but replacing the powedered milk with spreadable processed cheese (less traditionnal way), it gives it some saltiness that is a good contrast to the powdered sugar (the sweetness comes only from the top coat of sugar no sugar inside the dough)
@elmundoeats Жыл бұрын
That sound so delicious, what is it called in Morocco? The other version also sound so good, is it like cream cheese? Very interesting, thanks for sharing 🥰

Hi...Apa Kabar... in Indonesia there are cookies that are similar to what you make, the name is Kue Salju or Snow Cookies ,usually always available on Eid al-Fitr (the big day of Muslim)...
@elmundoeats Жыл бұрын
Hi! Khabar baik! Salju = snow. The name is spot on. Yes, these cookies are famous in Malaysia also during Ramadan/Aidilfitri.

I baked this every Christmas with walnuts for about 50 yrs now but powdered milk was not one of the ingredients. Also without nuts, you can stuff chocolate chips or pieces of any preserved fruit like apricot, dates cherries etc. We call it Mexican wedding cake or Russian tea cakes. It tastes like short bread cookies

Buat la untuk raya, memang sedap! Kalau guna ghee kena test kurangkan sikit amount nye, supaya doh tak lembik.

Yes, in Malaysia we call this biskut arab or suji (tbh idk what’s the difference between these two😂)

Yes, biskut Arab susu 👏. I think the different is biskut suji uses tepung suji. But they are both from the same origin. And delicious 🤤!

I was looking for a nut free recipe and just found your channel. However, watching the video I see you don’t add any sugar to the dough??? And only roll them in sugar
@elmundoeats Жыл бұрын
Hi! The sweetness comes from the double sugar coatings on the balls. No sugar in the dough. Hope you try them, they’re great!
