I ended up doing one final Wonderlocke on Pokémon Y right before the servers shut down and I completed it just a few hours before the servers shut down yesterday. I won’t ever forget the 10+ years the 3DS Online servers have been active for and all the Wonder Trades, GTS Trades, and the many WiFi battles I’ve done on Gens 6 & 7 I miss it so much already and I’m happy I was able to Wonderlocke the first of the Pokémon games that introduced the Wonder Trade feature one last time knowing I wouldn’t be able to do any online features on these games ever again after that. Hard to believe X & Y are over 10 years old. I still remember getting my 3DS and my copy of Pokémon Y as a late Christmas present from my dad back in February 2014 both of which I still have to this day. Say what you want about the Gen 6 & 7 games being too easy and whatnot but the OST and all the amazing online features definitely made up for it. Thank you Nintendo for creating my 2nd favorite console of all time that being the 3DS. It truly is the end of an era and it’s been one heck of a ride.

The fact this will be 10 years old soon makes me tear up. XY was my first Pokémon game, although I played it in 2014 I was pretty much a fan. I only watched the anime at the time, Brazil was airing Pokémon black and white anime until 2014, I saw some kids in my class play Pokémon, I then decided to buy Pokémon X. I picked Fennekin so it’s theoretically my first Pokémon ever. I evolved it into Braixen but I didn’t know how to save the game. On my way to the school, I decided to pick Froakie just to check him out, it eventually evolved into Frogadier, my friend taught me how to save the game. But I was stuck with Frogadier, not Braixen, I said whatever and just played along. I think I remember what my first team was composed of. I think it was Greninja, Talonflame, Charizard, Raichu, Umbreon… I can’t remember the last one… it was either Moltres, Delphox, Lucario, Krookodile, Xerneas, Mewtwo or Chandelure. I am extremely upset I can’t remember the last member of the team but that’s just simply how memories work, some stay and some fade. Although Fennekin is theoretically my first Pokémon, I consider Froakie my first Pokémon since I actually went through the whole game with it. I still have a working 3DS, during the quarantine I reset the game and played through all of it again, I also sent over some of my Pokémon to Pokémon Home Recently, my Greninja is there, waiting so he can be placed in my Pokémon Violet. I have a similar story, my first pokemon ever was a Bulbasaur, from a bootleg green cartridge that wouldn't save. I went to the store to get a working copy, and decided to get Charmander instead. So I didn't have my first playthrough with my first Pokémon.

This generation may have started to make pokemon a little too easy, but then you remember the music and moments and it shows you that even though X and Y may not be your favorite, they're still good in their own way. I feel like this poked a hole in my heart. Then, it let the calm, soothing melody in, before closing the hole with the melody inside of it. Then the melody changed into a more happy and fun tune, and expanded my heart. This theme honestly makes me feel like a changed person after hearing it.

God, the anime absolutely peaked in Kalos. Alola was good, but the only thing stopping me from calling it better is 3 things; 1) Rowlet is still Rowlet, for a weird reason. 2) the art style was good, but it just doesn't sit well with me. Journeys got it better. And 3) trading Japan's glorious renditions of this theme as well as Ash-Greninja's theme when Torracat and Incineroar used their Z-moves against one another for the same 5 tracks that were repeated _over and over and over again._ Sorry for the text wall, but... I just love Kalos so much man. And I hate to see it's great pros outshined by the pretty glaring cons.

i remember the time back in 2016, i was so overjoyed when my dad bought me a 3ds along with a copy of pokemon X. before i got it, i was pretty much playing the GBA pokemon games so i was nothing but a happy little child when i got something as amazing as a 3ds back then. i played the game and never realised how despite it being easy, XY games did a great job pouring melancholy and a feeling of hospitality in the games, i was deeply mesmerised by it not because it was a whole new experience for me, but as someone who was already a huge pokemon fan, the feeling was just … different. by far snowbelle has to be my favourite city theme, it represents YOU, your accomplishments and what’s waiting for you after you bid farewell to this city, the tone of sorrow remains there. my dad is not here with me right now, i’m sure if he was he wouldn’t mind buying me a switch, but for now, i cannot do anything but stay behind you guys, reminiscing over the older games.

Gen 6 is the only region I have played more than 5 times (alongside Gen 1) I know its easy, the villian team is boring, the story isnt that good, heck even the graphics aged porly BUT there is SOMETHING that makes me want to play it nonstop, I just LOVE the ambiance, music, characters and overall vibe, it feels so different yet so similar to what a old pokemon game should be... This song just gives me a lot of emotion. When I hear this I think of everything that has lead up to now. Now soon I will be finishing middle school and the thought of leaving everything behind to move on gives me emotions of sadness and hope which this song perfectly represents. To me it represents the end of something like how in the game Snowbelle City is the last Gym before the big challenge ahead. It makes me see the end as being a time to leave old things behind and while I am sad that I will leave old friends and old happy memories of my youth, I will be moving on to the final challenges in my life but as long as I keep determined throughout all these challenges I can make it through them. I am reminded by simple yet emotional memories like this that I should forever take care of myself until my last days come.

I can’t bring to describe how much this franchise, these games, and this game means to me. I only got into Pokémon when I was 8 years old during Black and White around 2012 and I would watch the anime on Cartoon Network. My very first Pokémon game was Pokémon Y that I got in 2014 when I was 10. It took me 2 months to beat but I still have that cartridge 8 years later now that I’m in college. I don’t think I’ll ever sell my 3ds or those games in my life. This game has given me so many happy memories. I remember writing a letter to "Santa Claus" (my parents) and being torn between choosing Pokemon X or Pokemon Y. I wanted Pokemon X so badly for mega charizard X, but Pokemon Y had mega mewtwo Y. so I wrote that no matter which version I got, I would still enjoy it. I finally got my copy of Pokemon Y for Christmas + 3DS of course. I was sooo happy. I love this game so much and can't believe it's been almost a decade since this game was released.

why does everyone keep acting like you can no longer buy x and y for the 3ds anymore? gamestop still sells both, they sell most pokemon games if in stock. the ds store shutting down doesnt mean you can no longer purchase the games. just find physical copies
