Twenty years ago on my first day at Snowbird (in a storm) first run we hooked up with a resort guide and he turned his coat inside out and took us up to Get Serious chute. Back then, guides were not supposed to take people under a rope into extreme areas. I think we went in right there but back then the trees were more dense. We squeezed through and swung into the chute by using a fixed rope and grabbing tree roots. Much steeper than it looks. The first 10-15 ft is a straight drop. I'd never done anything like that before or since. Really nice to see this video of a moment that was so long ago. Thank you for posting.

Was just there last week. I saw this chute every time I went up Gadzoom I believe. Not for me, but love the video. I did enjoy plenty of the Lower Cirque as well as the Mineral Basin.

toughest thing is just the narrowness and rocks. I ski 192s and it's a huge pain to squeeze in there.

It’s because many boarders suck and try to ride way above their skill level. The side slide is like the snow plow for skiers. Please note I know there are many good boarders.

Keep your shoulders square facing downhill. You can clearly see your arm turning up hill in the camera aka, your shoulders are turning uphill. I used to do the same thing when nervous about a steep…, once I figured that out, I ski 1000% better.

This takes a lot less snow off the runs than snowboards

Did he ever consider that ski patrol roped off the entrance because they accessed that the entrance was skied off and dangerous. Just because there are tracks going in doesn’t mean that it’s still safe when you duck the rope.

that rope is always there, it keeps out the tourists (at least some of them)

Ropes are often used to keep traffic down and the snow good for people who can actually ski steep terrain.

Yeah, don't duck the rope no matter what the sign says. If they're closed, they're closed.

he already entered the avalanche gate. the rope he ducked is just a warning to keep noobs from falling off cliffs.
