Snow Blower first start, no start of the year. I am going to show you why this 39 year Gilson snow blower with a Tecumseh engine wouldn't start. Then I am going to show you what I did to get it to start. First let me point out I made that big mistake, I left gas in the tank.

Very true. And it was used the next day. We had just short of 12" of snow that night into the morning with another 2" by afternoon. Keep warm, Joe Z

Great job maintaining an at-least-29-year-old snow blower for it to have lasted this long and look and work this good, Joe. 👍👍 Glad the first-of-Winter snow blowing prep was easy. I heard a tip today about storing small engines with 100% fuel stabilizer in the tank, carb and lines. A snow blower was brought into a shop because it wouldn't start. 100% fuel stabilizer was found in it and everything was preserved perfectly. The carb was beautiful inside; like new. Clearing out the stabilizer and putting in fresh gas was all that was needed. Not recommending it because I've never done it, but it may be something to research for your storage needs. A procedure like this might be harder to forget. Happy snow blowing (if that can be a thing)! 😜

I guess due to the quality build & guys like us planned obsolescence is a necessity for manufactures to stay in business LOL That may work, I have not tried it (YET). I watched a video that showed filling a chainsaw part way with just 2 cycle oil before storing then priming & pulling the starter cord a couple of times kept the diaphragm and fuel lines in great shape. Just had to drain & refuel before using. I may give one of these a try. If I do I will make a video for the first start. Snow blowing may not be the happiest thing I can think of but it sure beats using the shovel LOL Stay warm, Joe Z

@@JOEZEP54 The fuel stabilizer was used in a Briggs 4-stroke engine in a portable generator. Your way mentioned may be better for a 2-stroke. Yes, I agree that a snow blower would beat a shovel any day!

I never used fuel stabilizer. For what I read it is not as effective with ethanol fuel and that is all I can buy in my county. But I will try it as you mentioned previously. That is if I get it off my "gona list" LOL @@100vg

Both my snow blower and generator are started every month, and not until the storm did they decide not to start. I am sure that it's bad gas. Thanks for sharing.

Yep even one drop of that water will block the pickup of fuel. That was a bunch of water you had there. The "10% ethanol" in modern gas will separate as well. This makes it even more difficult to store gasoline in a machine.

I was surprised on how much water was in there. The blower was in a shed. I did some reading awhile back on "10% ethanol gas" and came to the conclusion that it is just another money making scam. The cost to produce, deplete corn supply, and engine issues just a few issues. But looks like it is here to stay plus additional ethanol added to gas being used.
