I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on KZbin and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!
I want "DON THE SMALL ENGINE DOCTOR" on KZbin to save you time, frustration and most importantly, MONEY with my HOW-TO videos!

Dony, I was gifted a Tomahawk Pro chipper/shreader that did not run. It has a HM 80 8HP engine with a non-adjustable carb. I rebuilt the carb and it now runs (chips and shreads like the devil!), but it will no run unless it is choked about 1/2 to 1/3. I feel like it is running lean and/or there maybe extra air leaking into the carb. I have also replaced the fuel line and the air breather hose. Any ideas on what else I should check to get it running with the choke closes as it should?

I used to have a chart that gave the rope number equivalents to decimal sizes--don't remember it except that as number diameters got larger, I think they went from #1 to #7, decimal sizes also went larger. It is very important that rope dia. is neither too large nor too small.

Snapper Hi-boy? Love those mowers. Mine is on it's 2nd replacement Briggs quantum engine and it's pretty much worn out as well. Still runs but it's burning oil. I'm in the process of rebuilding a Honda GCV190 off of a pressure washer to put on it. Had to get a longer crankshaft so I'm replacing the rod and rings as well.

@@bevis226 No, not a highboy.. I do not intend to keep it even though I paid extra for the Ninja blade for it. My first snapper I purchased in 1992 and it finally gave up in 2017. Everything was worn out by that time. I do not have a lawn to speak of thanks to the pine trees in my yard but the little spot I do have gets mowed everytime I fix a mower. I wanted to rebuild a Honda motor myself, but found another mower with a good engine snd bad everything else, so I just swapped. I sold that one to my neighbor that does have grass.

@@scottfirman I have abut 1 1/2 acres to mow and lots of parts mowers and crap to mow around. You never seem to have enough "storage" lol. I've been in the "business" for 33 years now. These last few years have been rough on everyone. Alot of OEM Parts are getting very hard to find and very expensive. I have been buying lots of aftermarket Chinese parts lately because more and more of the OEM parts are becoming NLA or to costly. Some of the aftermarket parts are not horrible but you are better off rebuilding with OEM parts for longevity. Very Rarely will someone pay $100-$200+ for parts and labor to repair an old used Blower that is worth maybe $250-300 tops when fixed.

Frustrating process; I tried a couple of different cords but they were too supple to push through the rotor hole. They'd just bunch up. By judiciously melting the cord with a match the last inch or so, though, and running a very thin wire into the stiffened part of the rope like baiting a hook,we got it done by passing the wire through the hole first and pulling the cord with it. Sort of like electricians do.
@GG64du02
@GG64du02 Жыл бұрын
Ok, the hole is a good idea, be careful not to make it too big and the grease for spring should not be thick/sticky otherwise you might get the rope out of the pulley when you let the rope back in. Aka getting the rope on the flywheel.
