@rolansereny9922 3 жыл бұрын
Ya lol, a pass that includes a handful of hills. A $450 rip off. The $650 Epic Local includes Whistler/Blackcomb, Breckenridge, Vail, Stowe, Okemo, not tiny NY and PA hills.

@@rolansereny9922 since when is the highest vertical drop in the east considered a tiny hill? Plus I live close to gore and whiteface and I don’t have to wait 50 hours to get on a lift at vail.
@rolansereny9922
@rolansereny9922 3 жыл бұрын
@@danielmaloney1050 just making a point, which is that you can’t compare the mountains out west to east coast resorts. For example the highest in Vermont is Killington at under 5k feet. In CO and Utah mountain elevation is wayyyy higher. Quality of snow is wayyyy better. The frequency of snow is far more often. The runs are longer. The resorts have features you don’t find out East such as cornices, massive bowls, above tree line terrain, insane coulairs and gully’s and drops. Impressive tree skiing and also amazing Apres Ski. You really need to respect resorts like Vail, Breck, Snowbird, Park City, etc. The mountains you are speaking of are small in comparison. And if people are smart they hit the slopes Monday through Friday, not on weekends, and then guess what? No lines. And, it’s not as if there aren’t long lines on weekends out East. I grew up in CT, spent 15 years skiing Vermont mountains. Snowboarding out West is on an entirely different level. Far more challenging. Far more exciting. Simply better by any metric.
@danielmaloney1050
@danielmaloney1050 3 жыл бұрын
@@rolansereny9922 I’m 16 and will most likely move out west later in my life, but I thought you were comparing other east coast passes to the one I use.

The crowding is also probably due to bus trips from NYC. Hunter is one of the mountains the buses all go to as a day trip. I assume the one 30 mins down the road you're talking about is Belleayre? For some reason the NYC buses don't go to that mountain. But yeah, I grew up going to Belleayre and when I went to Hunter for the first time last year I wasn't too impressed for all the hype it gets.

Seriously recommend coming out to Maine. Take a 3 day trip and hit up Sunday river, Sugarloaf, and Saddleback. Like 3 of the top 5 largest east coast resorts. Sunday river is rated as the 5th best east coast park. And Sunday river has 8 peaks. Saddleback is large and has no lines( best trees) Also gets the most snow. Sugarloaf has only above tree line skiing, great parks, lines aren’t bad, it has CAT skiing, and has the best glades( basically a whole peak of just cliffs, pow, and sick trees.

I can't believe you were at Hunter the one weekend we were in Vermont! Not to mention, Killington while we were at Stowe 😔. The best advice to avoid the lines at Hunter is hit the 2 man on the far right, and then the 3 man that's halfway up the mountain to get to the top! Never waited longer than 5 minutes on busy Saturdays that way! Vail does oversell tho, you should see the way they pack the PA mountains

You should hit up Mt. Snow. The GLADES ARE AMAZING. And the parks are obviously insane because its the Carinthia parks.

I don't know what you do with all the pins you collect, but I thought a cool idea to show off the pins would be to get a big map of the USA and attach all the pins where the resort corresponds on the map.

I ride a 600ft vertical resort, pretty much 8 main runs, 2 min average run, and yet we have 10-20 min waits consistently on the weekends since vail bought it out

You are 100% right. My local mountain Mt. Snow which was also bought over by vail has been horrible. The lift lines are insane on the weekends and holidays. At the time there a reservation system in place because of COVID and the crowds are still insane. Which makes me wonder what this place would be without the reservations? wait time on the lines take up to 30 min and 40 min. Vail has just given up on Carinthia the terrain park. They started building the half-pipe and just gave up so there a half built pipe. They don’t even build the big jumps on inferno like they normally do. I have just had a horrible experience with Vail. Anyone else have the same experience?
