Learned how to snowboard on Mt. Baker literally 20 years ago as I was going to university near there. I've forgotten how great the snow was there to be honest. Friends and I would skip classes just to go boarding on major POW days, or skip the week to go to Whistler. Pretty cool meeting EJack, I saw Terje Haakonsen once during the banked slalom events. That was my snowboarding mission accomplished moment.

He will wash you completely Clean from ALL your sins and wants you to Come to him it says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Meaning the punishment for our sins is Hell Because we are not obedient to God. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” Gods wrath and Judgment went on Jesus Because He was carrying our sins so God treated Him like the worst sinner now God will Justly treat you like you have never sinned after you believe upon Him so when the blood of Jesus is over you God cannot treat you like a sinner! He never wants to but now He can Justly treat you like you never sinned Jesus was our sacrifice for our sins! Tell God you admit your a sinner and ask Him to wash you with His blood and receive His Gift of righteousness. Been riding Baker since ‘85 and we’ve always felt that the gnarly terrain and not always ideal conditions is what makes Bakers riders some of the best, still today. There’s a reason for the MBHC (Mt Baker Hard Core) name placed on local riders. A lot of us enjoyed competing and stood a little prouder when you’d over hear other competitors says “there’s a bunch of Baker guys here” You wanna see a long list of world known pro’s and a huge party, go up to Baker on the weekend of the Legendary Banked slalom race weekend. My buddies and I competed in it one year, what a true snowboarders race. And none of this would’ve ever been, if it weren’t for Duncan Howat the mtn manager and his two daughters Amy and Gwyn (a skier at that). Amy rode for GNU and competed against the guys and Gwyn was the banked slalom organizer/race course designer. Thanks for everything you’ve done to put memories in my head that I will bring to my grave

Agreed, the level of skill and steez of the Baker locals is unmatched anywhere I’ve ridden. It ain’t for the faint hearted. I won’t take anyone up there thats not well versed in the backcountry and able to crush the hardest runs at average resorts. Most people have no business strapping in here.

I’ve followed Baker’s weather for years. They get pounded with snow. But I never realized the resort was extreme as you made it seem to be. When you read about their mountain stats, it doesn’t seem too impressive. I’m pretty sure you’ve been to Jackson Hole. I think you went last year. How does Baker compared to Jackson Hole? Have you ever been to Snowbird Utah? If so, how does it compare to Snowbird? Thanks in advance!
@kittyislandadventure
@kittyislandadventure 2 жыл бұрын
I've been to all three. They are very similar terrain wise but I think Mt Baker overall is steeper both in average and specific slopes. There isn't as much inbound acreage as the other two, but Baker packs a big punch in a small package. Baker gets the most snow and has the smallest lift lines of the three. Mt Baker isn't a typical modern ski resort at all though, unlike Snowbird and Jackson. It has a lodge and that's it. Slow and old chairs. No amenities, no hotels. It's a very old-style, legendary mountain. 0 visibility is the norm, not the exception at Baker.
@SnowboardProCamp
@SnowboardProCamp 2 жыл бұрын
I’d sat the amount of terrain at baker is the smallest of the three, but you get a better pitch, more natural terrain features and almost no people. The backcountry area is the most accessible and best I’ve ever ridden!

I’d hate to see the lines at the other resorts you go to if you think Baker has no lines. I came across a pic the other of us boarding Baker in ‘85, it was a bluebird day 12”+ and 5 people in the lines. One thing Baker has always had is it’s fair share of pro riders, I’ve seen, ridden or competed with Craig Kelly, Ranquet, Lynn, Line, Terje, Bas, EJack, Boyer, Palmer, Kidwell, Tom Sims, Cummins brothers, Mike and Peter (LIB owners), Tom Burt, Farmer, Kass to name a few. Bakers terrain is killer my only complaint is the powder is tracked up within 2 hours. Hiking the Arm is heaven, but even that is getting busy. I’ve riding there almost four decades countless times hiking the Arm or Hermin and it never gets old, I will die with those memories and a smile. I’ve hiked the Arm on a killer bluebird day and came across some snow caves dug out that dudes crashed in the night before for first tracks, I climbed down into one of them but my claustrophobia kicked in and I had to wiggle my way out backwards. A couple facts about Baker I like to brag about are, Baker holds the WORLD RECORD for most snow fallen during one season, it was 1998-99 and the amount was 1140” / 95’. Another fact I find awesome about Baker is that the cult classic movie Deer Hunter with stars like Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken, Meryl Streep if you’ve never seen it do yourself a favor and watch it and don’t forget to watch for the views of Lake Diablo and Mt Baker/Table Mountain/Mt Shuksan. It’s a long movie but one you won’t forget.

do you want to know something so amazing that is free Jesus offers you His Righteousness as a gift for free! He will wash you completely Clean from ALL your sins and wants you to Come to him it says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Meaning the punishment for our sins is Hell Because we are not obedient to God. But Jesus was completely obedient to God He went to the cross to die for us and now we do not trust in our obedience but His it says, “Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. Come out of darkness and into light! it’s your part to receive Jesus to believe upon Him. It says, “Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” Don’t think it’s not wrong to sin -because He loves us.
