In this video I'm snowboarding on the peak of Whistler mountain and testing out the Lib Tech Golden Orca. This is a new version of the original Orca created by Lib Tech and Travis Rice. My impression of this board are that it will be more freestyle focused with a more twin shape with less taper and more tail. I'm going to test out the Golden Orca in some powder conditions on Whistler peak and also find a few small drops to send it off of. If you have any questions about the Golden Orca snowboard or have any snowboard review requests hit me up in the comments. Thanks for watching!

Kev - Awesome vid! You basically answered every question I had about this board. I’m really enjoying my regular Orca. Furthermore, It’s good to know that I don’t necessarily have to cop the Golden (Shred Life Issues - I know that you get it). I’m all about Max float! And at my age I need to work smarter not harder. Thanks again, Bro!

I have a 153 orca and a 157 Golden orca, just rode the golden 4 straight days at Jackson hole. I thought it would be an epic all around board but to be honest it’s more of a quiver board. It does amazing in steep and deep terrain, scary drops off cliffs and high speed stability. It is not better than the original orca in, any kind of powder (sans cliff drops) any trees of any kind. It’s really stiff. It’s obviously great switch. Curveball off the trip was riding my buddies 158W mountain twin for a few runs, I loved that board way more than the golden orca, softer, more playful and easy to pop and swing around. Long story short, the golden orca is for steep aggressive terrain and does not excel on most of The resort.

You need the stiffness in the backcountry, makes sense it's not as mellow as a Mountain Twin. It's more in the range of an Ultra Flagship, which as well, is probably way stiffer and more aggressive than a Mountain Twin.
@michaelandrew83
@michaelandrew83 2 жыл бұрын
@@exorder2005 Yes agreed you need stiffness for certain terrain, Im not sure the Golden Orca was marketed as a board that is specifically for backcountry. I was under the impression when I got it that it was a do more style Orca, and thats all I am saying is its not. It's not anything like the original Orca, which is surprising. It is a super niche board that does less than the Orca in my opinion.

I think your review just pushed me away from the Golden Orca. I'm considering either the golden orca or the new Trice Pro as a new board. I'm coming from a skate banana. I want a board that will do better on powder days than the banana. It's been a faithful stick but I think there's probably a better option! I live in Florida so I don't get to ride as much as I'd like but I try to make 2-3 snow trips a year to Whistler/Colorado/Tahoe. From what I've been researching that Trice Pro might be more logical for my need?
@michaelandrew83
@michaelandrew83 2 жыл бұрын
@@mbelanger I dont think the trice pro is powder specific. Im not sure, but I thought that board was more suited for freestyle end of things. If you want a directional powder board the original orca is rad, but there are lots of great directional powder boards that do great on groomers.

i know alot of people who have the original and feel the golden is a better board , thing was Kev has the 159 original orca and that thing is a boat ! of course this in a 157 is going to be harder work , what id like to know is how this thing is through chopped up on piste resort days as a daily and if its damp enough to absorb chatter.

I just picked up the Golden Orca and it’s a great all mountain board... like everyone says a little more freestyle oriented than the original. Nice edge to edge, handles well at high speed and it has great pop... but, I don’t think it’s worth the price tag to be honest. Great board, just wasn’t overly impressed by it. Look into a Capita Mercury if you haven’t already. That is a great deck that is right in the all mountain category. Cheers.

Kevin Why dont you wear some Oakley Rose Prizm or Hi Pink for those flat light conditions? or some Smith Chromapop Flash Storm lenses. Youve said in your own reviews that the Oakleys and Smith have superior low light quality and contrast. Those Anons are great from a function point of view but on low light days lenses should be top priority.

I weigh about 190lbs with all my snow gear on , I ride the 21 orca in a 153 , from all the people I know they are saying dont downsize on the golden orca , so if i got it I might get a 157 , as Kev said dont expect the same type of float in the golden as the regular orca , he rides a 159 in last years orca and he has the original blue orca in 153 and he has videos on why he went for a 159 the second year , i believe its the orca in Japow review. I weigh the same roughly as Kevin , if you go original it depends on your weight , how heavy are you ?

But maybe more accessible to many riders than maybe the goldmember is.

Believe it or not, this might be the most important post you'll read Everyone of us has broken God's moral law, the Ten Commandments. We have all lied, stolen, hated and lusted. And James 2:10 states that breaking one of the Commandments makes us guilty of breaking them all. Problem is, we can never outweigh our sins through good works because the Creator is perfect in Holiness, meaning His standard is far above ours. And He is also perfect in Justice, meaning not a single sin will go unpunished. And the punishment of sin is being cast into hell, you do not want to go there. Fortunately, God is also perfect in love, so 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ left His throne in Heaven and came to this earth as a man. He lived a perfect, sinless life and He so loved us, that He took the punishment of our sin, when He suffered horribly on the cross. Isaiah 53 tells us that his face was marred beyond recognition and that he suffered more than any man. But right before His death, Jesus said "It is finished" meaning the the debt for our sins was paid in full. But on the 3rd day, Jesus conquered death and He was resurrected. So that means now, we can go free from the wrath of God's judgment not by earning it, but rather as a free gift of grace, if you accept Jesus. But, a gift can either accepted or rejected. So if you want to accept the free gift or forgiveness, of grace, and of salvation, this is what you should do: Humbly admit to God that you have sinned against Him, and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, your Savior. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and was resurrected 3 days later. Roman's 10:9 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 says that if you do this you are saved. I'm not telling you to get religious, because Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship with God. Religion says DO, but Jesus Christ says DONE! Ephesians 2:8-9 says For it is by grace we are saved through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast. And the moment you do this, If you have trusted and put your faith in Christ ALONE as savior, congratulations! He promises you that you will never be plucked from His hand, perish or be separated from His love! Saved by God’s Grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone… FOREVER!!! What you do with this information will determine where you will be for Eternity; meaning accepting Christ is the single most important decision you'll EVER make. And all of us here, believer or atheist, know that this is very true. Salvation is a free gift! Who wouldn’t want it! Jesus Christ wants YOU to come to Him this very moment; don't even think about sleeping until you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, because tomorrow isn't guaranteed. You could die at any moment. Hebrews 9: 27 "It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this, the Judgment." All praise and honor to Jesus Christ, King of kings, Lord of lords. Go Jesus go!!
