Your original video, critical as it was to the game, actually put it on my radar for the first time and convinced me to give it a try, and I've been playing it daily ever since. It's kind of interesting how so many of your criticisms in that original video were fixed so quickly after the video's release. One thing I wish you went over in this revisit is how many free units they just give away. Whenever they run 2 new SSRs in a patch, the second one (usually a support) is given away, along with a complete logistics set that has their best substats already, just for logging in during that patch. So far that's Enya SSR, Fenny SSR, and soon, Marian SSR. I started a month after your first video and I have 14 SSRs, and I would have more if I hadn't gone for a couple signature weapons.

Just like with one of their other games they patched in a way to remove localisation cencorship before they where forced to. This for PC client. rightclick snowbreak > open file location > clickdata folder > find localization.txt open it with notepad and edit the 0 to a 1 and save the file. When done right the 5* enya will be blue/purple instead of green and the censorship on other skins is gone!

@@ImproperStandby I speak on this as a Gacha newbie, but compared to every other game ive played with a cash shop, Snowbreak honestly feels like it respects your time to me. the autoclears make standard dailies a breeze where i can happily clear dailies where im at in snowbreak while in YGO master duel id still be waiting for some decks to resolve a combo. the pull system lets you put a definitive price on what your going for, and to be frank, the general game play doesn't ask to much of the player either. if you want to push the upper limits of gameplay for things like the leaderboards, you can go for it, but the bulk of the in game rewards are well before that point. you can do just fine with even 4 star characters if you don't care for that competition. joining on a patch with a free 5 star nets you them and prerolled logistics as a bonus, so this patch is a particularly good time to start, especially since the rerun characters are also considered among the best this go around if you go to pick them up. if your willing to put in the time, you only ever need one copy of a character unless you want to dupe for speed, as you can do a small story section and then rerun the end autocomplete style if you wish to build the character up, though it has a daily hardcap in itself to do this per character, and you only get enough energy to upgrade 2 5's at a time 2 points every day, bonus drops given out around this energy aside. I can't say i agree with others who say all the characters personalities have been "stripped" storywise. I know there are some who disdain fanservice, and im not really someone that interested in it myself, but i found the stories to be at least amusing, myself. the current and last patch have been intentionally less serious as cool off patches, but I still found myself drawn into them and interested in the characters. there was a full on writer swap during the games life, and the characters most affected would be hard for anyone to write and one in particular I felt took some hits. so while there was some damage, I didn't find it as bad as the ones who point it out say it is. I am sorry for the fans of that character though. my major complaints with the game really come down to logistics substat rolls, which the devs claimed to be working on a pity system so optimizers like me roll less on logis, Weapon rolls being how they are causing something of a gearing issue, especially if your newer at first so id like more unlimited rolls on that banner, and lastly certain gameplay mechanics like Auxiliary units having mostly been left on the vine since launch, and im waiting for the devs to use them in a newer character mechanically. as a newer player the worst part of the game to me was I had midgame drought while getting my account leveled. I could still use trial characters through the storyline (giving an idea of what most of the characters can do), but your own unlocked cast is level locked with you until you hit certain breakpoints of account usage, which does have an effect on the other wings of gameplay, even though they have added catch up elements to the game to speed this section up. It's a game where I set my challenge, and see if i can get there. the devs are just flat out interesting to me too, maybe more than as the game itself as they do what they can to roll with the controversies and punches they take. this is one of the few games that earned my respect and a purchase out of me with it's model, and in a very short time. it's not for everyone, but maybe you'd enjoy it?

I wrote a bunch out about this game and it seemed to vanish, but to distill it down... it's a game that seems to respect your time, and if you decide to pay, it's got a fair few low cost ways to get you more access to things as well, but you can do this thing FTP as well. the dailies and farmable character dupes can be autocleared, the Story despite the complaints about the shift and writer change to me is still interesting and personally i feel only a few characters were damaged in the writer shift, but thats because their unique traits would be hard for most people to write in those cases. This is a better time than any to give it a go- any patch with a free character on offer is a very good time to consider, but to be honest, the games about setting your own difficulty at the minute, so you don't need to worry about trying to get the "meta", even 5 stars as a whole, unless you really want to compete on the end leaderboards, and even thats mostly for personal achievement. I have my complaints about the game, but Its the game im glad to spend time on right now.

It's now one of the few games I bother to play at all these days. It's some of the most fun I've had with a gacha really. Azur Lane just introduced a dorm system that is almost the same as Snowbreak's. It just has Sirius for now, but goes to show how popular the dorm scene system is, that even AL went 3D after so many years..

In defense of azur lane they've been working on that one for waaaay longer then snowbreaks (They plan to do waaay more with it as they have mentioned in some dev logs and streams, but inits current it does kind of feel just like snowbreaks). Yessir glad you look at Snowbreak again. Game is improving every patch and I think still hasn't reach it's peak but I'm optimistic it get there. Also thank god for 100% percent I despise 50/50(even though I'm playing 2 games that have it) it just motivate you to play the game more. Recently got luck pulling for S. I think it was a charming game from the start, yes they made the girls even more appealing but they were good at first, just lacking in assets a bit. I like that they made the game so easy to maintain too, and removing the forced 50/50 is a huge win. They still have to work on some harder game modes and I wish they didn't release so many skill based characters, they still tend to treat the gameplay like it's Genshin or Wuwa or something when they should instead reward good aiming with more damage.

It brings a new thing to the table, who would have thought your waifus shooting at waves of enemies. As an ongoing player, it's pretty fun. It beats out other gachas in both gameplay and fan service. 3D is a major upgrade. The graphics are better than other titles and it feels like a game that is made for PC despite being on mobile. The monetization isn't too bad since you really just pay $5 a month for the daily login bonuses (increases your lean crystal gain as a F2P player by like 60% month-to-month after you finish the story) and other than that you just pay for skins. Battle pass is nice but not really worth it unless you want the battle pass skin. All the other rewards are convenient but not much hassle to farm yourself (auto-clear on missions you've completed before means you just need to log in a few different days to do so). They have loads of systems designed for F2P and although I disagree with the current state of not being able to pull previously released operatives, the game is still fun and does offer you a way to continuously pull from a pool of 5 characters that will allow you to create some really strong operatives and combat the whales. Albeit, only by choosing 1 out of those 5 instead of your favorite waifu like the whales.

Specifically, ML (Master Love: All girls love the Main Character, who is you,the player) they already established such loyal fanbase with their first game. But Mica saw Mihoyo gaining huge revenue by attracting casual players(Genshin Players) Aka: so-called Tourists in the Gacha community. Mica saw that, and wanted to do the same. The problem is, they used GFL IP, who has an established loyal fanbase. Thus, contradict itself with the first game. The nail on the coffin was Daiyan event. Where the voice actress had a long audio video talking with Raymond and calling his name more than calling the Commander (The player). Which made the players rage on Mica and the event. The problem is, said writer of Daiyan event is a woman called STAR. Which she is disliked among CN community, because she self insert herself in these Gacha games, and doesn't follow the game's lore, and ruin said lore out of spite towards ML players. GFL 2 lore was crap and isn't the same of GFL 1 because of her. Oh, and I believe she's also a feminist. And before you think the closest and call CN players incels, I honestly don't blame them for hating Mica. Imagine investing your money and time on a Waifu from the first game, but in the second game she 'moved on' and love someone else and doesn't love you anymore. In the end, Mica made a fool of themselves by trying to change their already loyal and established fanbase from the first game. But rather than listening to said loyal Fanbase, they gaslight them and insult them under the desk, which really isn't a good business practice. And they lost the trust of their loyal player base that they are now trying so hard to gain back. That's why I said they 'Shotgun' shot themselves in the foot. Edit: I forgot to mention that the game at the beginning of it's release was tedious with its farming, but now I heard they changed it to the better. And I believe it followed along with Genshin bad gacha system along with pity. One of the other reasons why CN players disliked GFL during it's release. That's why I'm cautious about this game, no matter how amazing and lively it's characters and graphics are.

I think the new patch improved it, I'm no longer teleporting around when using the trampoline. And the ping in the fallguys mode is also below 60ms. Still laggy from time to time, but it has gotten better.

I started playing after watching your video review a couple of months ago. The only other gatcha game I play is Nikke: Goddess of Victory, and I have to say, I really enjoy Snowbreak. As a Snowbreak veteran, I had hoped that the game could pull through on doing solid and touching story work alone similar to Honkai 3rd's route, and I am sad that it had to pivot so hard into lewdness, but I can understand that the game was actively in its death throes and for them to turn it round is nothing short of miraculous. While I'm going to miss the touching stories that could have been about the girls themselves and each other such as Siris and Chenxing's friendship, the relationships between the girls and the adjutant are nevertheless still sufficiently touching that I'm playing the game still. If there was one odd business decision I noted early on, it's that the game was in fact simply too generous with its in game currency - you could with just a small fraction of luck pull for every limited character back to back with the amount of crystals doing the various game modes. The pivot into selling sexually charged scenes with only cash likely managed to offset the lack of earnings elsewhere.

Good video. One minor correction though. As a Day 1 player, who has whaled on a number of banners, I've now got max manifestations on most of the standard banner characters. This means that the 50/50 banners are considerably better for me than the guaranteed banner. Even if I fail a 50/50, I still get 60 character fragments, which I can trade in for any limited character. I also pull early sometimes, or double pull... which never happens on the guaranteed banner because the rates are 10x worse. The soft + hard pity limits are also higher on both the 100% character and weapon banners. Even a F2P who started on Day 1 might have max manifestations on some of the standard characters now, because of the daily character fragments. Lyfe, Yao, and Fenny were all meta for a long time. The longer you play, and the more developed your account, the 50/50 banners will become progressively better.

I like the fact this game opened up the idea of having more sexy characters in games. I love Tower of fantasy and am glad they are also going more in this direction with 4.0 and onward. Sometimes having characters that are strait up sexy mixes things up a lot. I do have some issues with snowbrake tho. For example the MC or protag looks like a random npc and there is no customization for that. I would have also liked a gender selection but i don't think that will happen. They need to at least add in outfits for MC.

The rise of the SnowBreak is closely linked to a domestic movement in China for ACG gamers called "I don't play a gacha game if there is male charater in game." (有男不玩). This caused almost the entire ACG of China to split and war. While some people are happy to see many couples or sexual minorities (furry or lgbtq+) in the game, the other part which is led by SnowBreak players is firmly opposed to the invasion of the former, pulling up the flag of resistance. This has never been done before in history. It could even be likened to the struggle with Sweet Baby. Many gacha games in China include too many ultra-feminist, sexual minority characters, but sell with the player's waifu. Players are forced to pay for the characters they don't like. Some games will even deliberately hide male characters and npc couples, using only female characters for publicity to attract ignorant newcomers. Similarly, well-known gaming companies such as Yostar and Mihoyo have cultivated their own online armies to suppress dissenting players in their communities. Years of oppression made Chinese players unbearable, and many people's feelings were cheated, especially after the GF2's explosion (a wifu in GF1 have become lovers of a npc in GF2 and the npc is a terrorist). Players in China are determined to start a cyber revolution and completely destroy the gacha games I mentioned above. These uncomfortable gacha games are referred to by the Players' movement as "混厕游戏", meaning that these games are public toilets that do not distinguish between men and women or something else, and players do not need it. The whole movement is focus on support games that aim for a single group (like Snow Break) and fight with game companies that try to make players as a slave (such as Yostar and Mihoyo). Good Luck

I still can’t bring myself to play and like this game. That’s gonna be a hot take because I know how everyone praise it so much. First a bit of context : I played Snowbreak from week 1 until the first summer event. It was one of my first gacha games. I played it because I saw some ads about the game and I’m big fan of TPS, Sci-fi and post apocalyptic universes. I first quit snowbreak because the progression of the game didn’t feel good for me and the gameplay was simply too bland. However I was convinced that it was a pretty good basis that they will improve on over time, by adding enemies with more diverse patterns and mechanics. When the first summer event happened, I was pretty disappointed because there was nothing really new gameplay wise. But I was still curious about the story (chapter 11 preview was so good). So I stopped playing but with idea of coming back later, to see how the game would improve on everything and maybe become a regular player. Fast forward some months later, I see some discussion about the game and how much it changed. I saw a lot of tasty screenshots and told myself “oh right, the game seemed to have developed quite a bit, maybe I’ll give it another try”. I hated it. What was originally a TPS/Shooter game has now become a ecchi/hentai harem visual novel with occasional shooting. Now there is nothing inherently wrong with that. I do enjoy 2D/3D waifus with big assets. But it was simply not the same game. The community made a lot of feedback about UI, character designs, gameplay loop, progression, etc. And it felt like the devs focused on people complaining about not seeing enough booty in the game and totally shifted their focus toward that because it was easy money. It felt like they just gave up on any cool ideas that a 3D shooter gacha game taking place in a post apocalyptic setup could have brought and turned it into Koikatsu Party with guns. I understand that I am simply no longer that target audience for this game, but I’m really disappointed that we didn’t get major gameplay improvements. I would have played the game and enjoy the titties and booties as well if they were at least some efforts to make the fights less about constant shooting and more about positioning, dodging, playing around mechanics. Anyway I know I’m in a minority there. Good video, and I wish every snowbreak players a pleasant cooming session.

I tried the game after the whole "Snowbreak goes degenerate" thing and I agree with you, a good baseline with lots of room for improvement. Still, honestly... the game sucks. It's frustrating seeing a game with potential going down the coomer route just because it wasn't good enough, but it is what it is. I very much preferred what I played in the early chapters, even if it sucked, at least it seemed like the devs had a vision and were actually trying.

Nice, thanks for giving this game a second look after the change in their direction. This time, I can understand not wanting to continue playing (I mean following 2 gachas is already hard work), but I do like that you give this one a second look, and able to see the changes for good or bad. As for Snowbreak, I am glad for this change. There is another controversy involving the CN voice actors, but I guess not many foreigners would care for that. Snowbreak is pretty much a success story, and from China no less. This game while being from a small company, has received a lot of focus from not only China, but Japan and other countries too. Heck, it is to the point that Mihoyo has started eyeing on them (related to the CN voice actors controversy mentioned). So yes, Snowbreak really did deserve its success.

8:35 the tokens are different. you cant exchange one for another. you will either get tokens for the standard characters or for the standard weapons. Also, Snowbreak difficulty is, well, easier than other gachas. Standard characters can still clear everything with ease as long as you are lucky enough to get their signature weapons or very good Logistics (Artifacts in Genshinspeak). And since you can literally farm "constelations" for your characters, with a little time investment you can max then out. As a F2P player I have gotten every single character I wanted and even got one of my standards to M5T2 (C6R5 in Genshin for example). She can clear everything with ease. Snowbreak is a gacha who has many QoL that definitively hurt their income. It's the trade-off they had to do to keep afloat. Every single 5-star unit they gave us players for free so far were insanely good, Standard Characters can clear everything with ease, guaranteed characters at pity 100, and when a character is underperforming they buff it in a few days, sometimes even changing mechanics so the gameplay is smoother. I have only words of praise for their development team. They are surely trying their best, and even when I feel like the fanservice is a getting little jarring I can easily overlook it since the casual loop of the game is just one of the best around.

Tbh I am to guess this is them adopting some core Monetization ideas that AFAIK in Gachas, ONLY GFL1 ever ran with this much F2P friendly model while relying strictly on the Skins to earn a tidbit of profit. They know the Gacha whaling plus those 20 USD skin packs are what is givjng them the profits, so they ought to focus on that while doing what they can so the Co-Op elements have enough players to sustain things

Dam, saw the video pops up like less than a minute uploaded I like the game still respects your time by allowing you to skip bunch of stuff so you can finish your daily in less than 3 mins and the gameplay still feels pretty fun and F2P friendly. Tho i wish some stuff can be skipped such as events with stage where you want to clear 10 separate waves and get up to 100K score weekly from it when one run could take a while for like 22K - 26K scores per run, it felt like a slog redoing a stage 4 - 5 times per week for that but those type of stage usually last for 2 weeks so 8 - 10 runs in total. Tho for me, i'll just have to let it rest until my PC got fixed because when you got so used to playing with Keyboard and mouse, playing on small mobile screen felt horrendous with all the buttons, especially doing weekly boss run if they tend to move a lot. I'd still recommend the game for those who want a side gacha that's still pretty fun to play, i guess there's not that many first person shooter gacha out there....i think.

It costs money, and with a Full 3D assets game like SB, data flow and storage costs are for sure going to be TOO HIGH for them, who only after course correcting to this path have been netting profits. They first need team expansion to allow leeway to COOK new Event stuff (Minigames, modes, Event specific mechanics...), Which they recently announced having hired new animators (hence them adding some springbones to the rear, they had more hands to do both that and keep QA up to task). So yeah. More servers for different regions would mean exponential costs and strain on their not yet expanded for it team

If you just want the current characters, Fenny and Siris are rerunning this patch and they are each in the top 3 supports(Fenny - Starshine, Acacia - Kaguya, Mauxir - Shadow Ka)/DPS(Siris - Ksana, Cherno - Enigma, Lyfe - Infinite Sight) respectively.

It just feels so counter-productive to me whenever something that's clearly trying to be a harem has to minimize the presence of "competing" options. Like, I'm not the sort of person who purposefully seeks out wish-fulfillment harem games, but I would presume a crucial part of the fantasy would be the girls choosing you, rather than just settling with you because you're the one guy available. It just reeks of insecurity, as though your preferred love interest would immediately leave you for someone else if there's literally any other option.

Yeah… Like the reason why a character like Rentaro is so much of a chad is because the girls will still choose to be with him even with billions of other dudes in the world. Also, it is frickin weird to think that a game with dudes will lead to a gender war within the community… Like FGO has a bunch of dude characters and female players (me being one of them), and both genders of players civilly agree to suffer together. If the notion of having female players and fujoshis (not necessarily the same group, and fujoshis also read hentais - so we can even be gooners together) ruins your enjoyment of a game… You might have bigger issues than female gamers 😅
