He laughed after striking her and told her, " Your foot announces your thoughts," which is how Mizu beat him years later in their second duel. She listened for the sound of his footsteps when she had her back to him and deduced that he was going to make a leaping strike, so she made sure to aim for a high angle when throwing her blade.

Taigen's ego is so interesting to me. It starts off inflated af because he's basically the top dog at this elite dojo and as good as married up to wealth and power in the world. Then he's humiliated, and it turns out it's by this "guy" he knew as a kid and saw as lesser than him and a "dog". Now he's reluctantly impressed because he sees that Mizu is actually skilled and his defeat was not a fluke, but I wonder what will happen to that new respect when he peels back another layer and finds out Mizu is a woman.

This show is amazing. Never wastes a moment. With animation as masterfully crafted this, supported by incredible writing and voices, it crushes what you can imagine. I like the fact that this show has American Cheese (certain montage music scenes come to mind) and some incredibly gourmet moments (the waves crashing in the final 4-fang duel.)It is incredibly approachable fine art.

At first I found it very jarring to hear Paxton Hall-Yoshida as a smug little bastard, and then he got his top knot chopped off, deflated, and settled into petulant snarkiness and yeah that’s the Paxton Hall-Yoshida I remember 😂😂😂

@@tylerannand3777 It's not that the comment CONTAINS a spoiler, but is, IN ITSELF, a spoiler. I've watched a shitton of reactions to this show, and EVERYBODY keeps talking about 'cant wait til you hit Episode 5' or 'Episode 5 is Cray Cray' (most keep it to vague terms like you did...fortunately most people aren't assholes about spoilers nowadays), and I've seen several reactors say that they felt they were spoiled by people hyping up Ep5 so hard that, by the time they got there, they were expecting something crazy, and it ruined the surprise. That might not happen w/Nerdy and Clarus, but given the chance to see a natural reaction, and a 'primed for cray cray so much of the emotion is muted' reaction, I'd much rather see the former.

@@arklytte I'll begin by saying I assumed there is a good chance they'd already seen it.. editing schedules being what they are an all. What would be the preference to you? Leave the episode # off my comment? In any case, it wasn't my intent to ruin the existing fan base experience... Just hoping to nudge an algorithm with engagement. I won't do that in the future.

@@tylerannand3777 The entire point of my post was that if you're going to comment (and you should, the Algorithm goddess IS hungry, after all), you should keep those comments to the current episode. I do get your point about editing schedules, but, again, I've seen other reactors/reactions spoiled by people overhyping 'future' episodes. All that said, I'm not the Post Police. I'm just another poster making my opinions known. You're free to ignore them as you wish. 😸

You know how there's talk about faces that have seen Instagram and how they don't work great for period movies? I think Randall Park has a voice that has known Instagram and so it seems very American and modern sounding for this setting. It doesn't really detract from the quality of the show but his voice feels most out of place to me if I had to pick someone.
