My new favorite channel. You waxed your shovel????? The best person to learn about gear from is someone (and don't take this the wrong way) butt retentive... In this case, it is meant as a compliment. My Pops was the same way. He would research camping gear and clothing to the umpteenth degree. He would order by mail, mostly LL Bean. But always had a pile of catalogs. Just like you he would end up with the best gear. He would send it back if it was crappy. So my hat is off to you, I will use you as a reference when I prep for our future camping endeavors. I love the teardrop, my brother has one. I love the tent covering the cooking area, but I wonder if there is one that would allow the snow to fall off. That looks like a real pain cleaning it off. Anyway, thanks for your cool channel. @@CosmoWeems yes I do but not so much for being outside but enough to survive in the truck itself .I my truck were to quit my battery power will last about 12 hrs to keep the Wabasto heater running and I do carry a small propane heater and I always carry more then a weeks worth of food .but I always been a weather nut so I pay close attention to the weather in the areas I'm headed for.and I'll generally get parked before I get myself in to deep.( I'm the type that can actually sit down and watch the weather channel for hours on end lol, wife thinks I'm crazy)

Your are prepared! I had full confidence you would be Ya Not much difference between what you are doing and I am doing. I realize the Wabasto saves fuel and provides great heat. Can the vehicle provide adequate heat to the sleeping area too as plan B? How long do you estimate the rig fuel would last at an idle? For me heat is truly a wonderful luxury that I would not want to go with out. But in a pinch I am prepared to do just fine without heat if it came to that. =Cosmo

@@CosmoWeems oh yes the factory heating system heats both the cab and sleeper really good and I can hold a total of 300 gallons of diesel so I could idle none stop for a good solid week or so and like I said I have the Wabasto as a secondary source and in worse case I have my camping style propane heater but I will say even though I've always had the peeper mindset I've taken much more seriously after the craziness of this past yr as well as preparing at home.any way I'll be in the the Motor City soon and then over the bridge into Windsor, safe travels and chat again will be looking forward to your next video.

You _can_ put a support pole (stick) up to keep the roof from collapsing and to give more time between snow removals. Come on, man.

Comment 512, so maybe this was mentioned already. A support pole in the center was part of our ShelterPod kit bought from ShiftPod. We also have a Clam Escape Sky Camper that has been up on our patio for a year. It withstood much wind, but recently collapsed in the center like yours, filling it with gallons of rain. Staking everything (hubs & base) is required, and but using a center pole, with flat top added meant no more collapsing! We used something random we had on hand as a center pole, but perhaps an extendable paint or window washing pole?

Thank You How about snow? The roof is 12X12 or 144 square feet. One square foot of snow weighs 7 pounds for very light snow. The roof would have to support 1000 pounds of weight for one foot of snow. The shelter is not built for that. Thank You for watching. Check my other videos kzbin.infovideos SUBSCRIBE kzbin.info

I know a guy who got stuck while coming home from a camping trip, nearly died in the cold that night. He had matches just forgot about it, could have gotten out of his truck and built a big fire. You think technology and the modern world will save you, but sometimes a simple solution is the best answer.

Oh boy, has that constant snow shifting got knobbs on it, but the fresh, crispy, new snow sound, sounds great - music to my ears. If you keep your broom out in the cold (???) sweeping the snow away from the entrance is easier and more effective. - Blue ..er, brew...a freudian slip?
