Wow, JJ is so on point with the music scene back when he was a kid. I went with my mother's sister and her boyfriend to see Simon and Garfunkel in the park. I fell asleep listening to them. That was a really nice dream and a great night in general. They woke me up at the end of the last song. I was ok with that. Yeah, every band in the world worth anything and then some came through NYC in all parts from the LES to Harlem. They'd even get as far as the Coliseum if they were a big act or with one. He tells these stories in a way that punches my nostalgia button. Thanks JJ.

You also can't make money any more. Before my band lost a few members and sidelined me, we had just about to start making some money to basically pay for the band after like 10 years of gigging. Then they left and stalled the momentum just as we were starting to get some decent pay days. Had to hold down jobs as well.

They played every Sunday and Tuesday at Mad Hatter in Soneybrook. Sunday's were free admission and Tuesdays were free admission and first beer free. They played every Wed and Thurs and many times did Thurs, Fri and Sat at the same club. I asked Tony Petri one night when Joe Franco came up to do a few songs how much the made and he said on the weekends 3,000 a night, this was in 76-77 or so.

@@deadsimpleband6922 ... Yes but even if you say they did gig every single night ok fine. But a one hour set of covers doesnt equal ONE SINGLE "GIG" like Mr. Exaggerrator claims. The whole night at one venue no matter how many sets would equal a "gig". So at a max if he plays every single day thats 365 gigs a year. Times ten years is what? Do the math!!! Not 7k gigs like he claims. Anything he claims he did is always half of what it really was. He bullsh*ts. Alot.

he's talking bull about not being interested in an act that hasn't played 500 shows. Maybe his 500 show acts are well oiled but it doesn't mean they have one decent number or talent.
