the p12 was my first heavy truck. and is my favorite. I use it primarily as a main recovery vehicle with the large frame addon. As well as ferrying vehicles to new locations. and it does alright when you're on MOST "roads" but its bane is DEFINITELY hills. I feel like it lacks power when it comes to hills. Fun fact, Pacific Trucks are Canadian made trucks and some are still running to this day 50 years after. Beefy trucks designed to last. But they were expensive.

That’s like a race car that doesn’t like corners haha! Yeah it’s a bit underpowered but not to a point its broken, it’s just a bit more power would up the enjoyment factor! That bumper is the worst and it doesn’t need that kind of deliberate handicap! Yeah that’s cool man 👍🏻 I bet in real life they’re a lot better than this! The same with the Derry 4520, it sucks in this game as it has the royal engine, if it was made accurately to real life then it should be a beast which it sadly isn’t! A lot of the big “American” trucks suffer in this game unfairly over Russia’s which have the big engines to choose that make them more viable 👍🏻

i really like this one for some reason. At one point I had a fleet of them as my "rescue" crew. One with a fuel tank, one with a maintenance unit and one with a crane. In my experience they were unstoppable. Slow sometimes, but they'd always get through.

Yeah if you enjoy it dude then by all means keep enjoying it lol 👍🏻 I’m not saying it’s terrible, it’s just not that good really and by now I’d need it to be “that good” to justify sinking £160k into it, it doesn’t do anything that 10-20 other trucks I have can’t do, but it’s not terrible, if I could remove that front bumper it would help a lot, I don’t like stupid forced “things” like that, because in real life you’d clearly remove the steps if they were as strong as superman and stopped you dead every 5 minutes lol! They just kill the random moments of fun you find when you go to try something and then it catches that! But yeah its certainly not the worst truck in this game lol there’s a few to take those spots 👍🏻

Thanks for another great review. In spite of all of its issues, this is still one of my favorite trucks in the game. One thing that I would offer is that in my experience the 57” OHD II All Chains seem to be the best tire setup. The mudtires should be better, but I think the dual tires handle the weight better or something. When I go through the mud it seems to sink less with OHDs on it. I bought and sold this truck a few times before finally keeping it in my inventory (not sure why I kept getting drawn back to it), but it wasn’t until I used the OHDs that I got the most out of it. The added bonus is that it’s more stable with those tires too.

Glad to have you here sir, yeah I bet it’s pretty stable as a crane as it’s nice and big, with dual rears it would sit nice and wide too 👍🏻! I’m certainly not saying it’s a crap truck or it’s broken like the derry and freightliner, I just think for £160k it doesn’t do enough things well for it to excite me and want to keep it, if I found it for free Id keep it but if I bought it fairly early which I did, Id sell it back for something better, which I did lol! But if you enjoy it man then carry on, I like how everyone has their own favourites and it shows that the game is fairly well balanced rather than everyone only liking 1 vehicle 👍🏻

On PC you change one of the files in a text editor and you get $10 million in game money. I don’t consider this cheating cause this is not a PVP game. With this money you can buy all trucks in the game and have five of each one.

I think the P12 is a good truck, it's my main for the big special load trailers and it dose it well, it even managed to take the Heavy fuel trailer thru the forest path going of the corner after the bridge you hade to build on black river, as well as taking the oil rig construction trailer from drummond island to the smithville drilling site via that rock crossing. The only thing i hade trouble with was the devils mud on north port when i was getting that salvage rig from the service site in the south east, i hade to use the 745c for the mud and went that detour path with the P12. I think it's a beast. You also don't need to use another truck for taking bigger loads, you can just take a towed low loader trailer with 4 slots. And you need it for a achievement in taymyr, where you need to deliver 10 pieces of cargo.

I don’t think it’s terrible or broken, I just don’t think it’s that good, there’s loads of other stuff that’s cheaper, faster, stronger, more versatile, better ground clearance etc etc so by now I just don’t see a need for it for me, what does it do that a dolphin or a Tayga or a Voron or a Navistar and so on can’t do? It’s a bit gutless when it comes to heavier stuff which to be honest I’d assume it would handle given its size, and to me it just does some things reasonably well, and a few things it sucks at, but there’s nothing it does the best or even close! That bumper is one of the worst things, it feels like a deliberately added handicap when I don’t think it needs or deserves it! I mean the loaf, the smallest thing in the game just about, can get over barriers better, tow stuff up the quarry hills better, go deeper in water and a thousand other things lol! But the dolphin for example would eat this truck for breakfast in every aspect other than maybe fuel (p12 is slower and gets stuck more so that extra fuel soon goes), and I’d have £40k spare! Again, not terrible, just dont think it’s great for the money, if it was free I’d keep it! But the p16 wrenches special trailers around like they’re not even there, and goes off-road without stalling in high etc so yeah it’s just too lacking for me and suffers from it’s own massive size with no gains for that size? Other trucks do too in this game really, sadly

The fact the P16 exists pretty much ruined the P12 for me, the AWD doesn't help it enough to make up for the lack of power and the terrible bumper clearance. I used a P12 for a crane vehicle for a while but sold it because the Azov pancake (73210) is better for it and 35k cheaper. Also 100% agree that the heavy crane needs to be made much more powerful. Great video as always though, I appreciate you taking the time and effort to do all these reviews :)

Yeah you’re right, I much prefer the p16 even though it’s not the most useful or versatile itself but it feels better than this! Less axles to spin so more power per axle with the p16, this p12 having another axle feels more like it’s just drained the power and it’s just not good enough to justify £160k! Exactly I kept Bruce (73210) as my crane vehicle and would over this! They have surprisingly similar chins thanks to this things stupid steps bumper! But the Bruce is just better overall! Yeah I don’t know what’s going on with that dude but they don’t seem to be diff locks like I’ve come to know lol! It might be bugged and not actually locked? I’m not sure, they don’t seem as free as unlocked, but clearly not locked at all costs either? I’ll wait and see what the next update In a couple of days does and hopefully it fixes it 👍🏻

Snowrunners a great game, I've really enjoyed playing it, never played mudrunner though, only thing about Snowrunner is once you've finished it there's no else to do, it's a shame you can't do some of the contracts again, watching yours and other people's videos is the only thing that's keeping me interested in Snowrunner now.

I agree that the frame mounted fuel tank is glitched. I put one on the tayga and was using it in some minor mud in Russia. With the offroad transmission in auto, it wouldnt get out of 1st gear on flat ground....

P12, has to be one of the best trucks in the game! Why, you might ask? Well, all the attachments you can put on, you can get it at the beginning of the game, stock it gets through everything, and best truck to use the big crane... Its always in my Garage

Agree with you on the cranes, plus the ancors are pretty much useless. I also agree that the p16 is a beast...i use it for almost everything...my only complaint with it, is no saddles for anything but special trailers

Yeah I’m sure the cranes used to be a bit better, they’ve either ruined them or accidentally broke them temporarily with that last big update, I’m kinda just waiting for that update to see what gets fixed and what doesn’t! Yeah I really like the P16 even though it’s relatively useless or not very versatile at least, but it’s a beast, it throws special trailers around like nothing, and has a horn that could start and end a war all in one lol! When I first started playing this game and using this truck, I wasn't too crazy about it. I thought it was ok, but nothing overly amazing. About 5 or 6 months later, and after gaining a lot more experience and knowledge with the game, the Pacific P12, and the P16, to a point, are 2 of my favorite trucks.

Regarding the diff lock problem ir happens in some trucks other trucks too (ank if im not mistaken), its almost as if it has a lsd intead of a always locked diff

I run it with the maintenance frame for fuel and repairs. Theres only 2 trucks currently that can mount the large maintenance frame. P12 and Azov 10x10 and id say its better on the p12. Azov already has nose clearance issues. Add maintenance frame and now you have front and rear clearance issues. Not ideal. I dont remember it being able to mount the heavy crane either and ive had the truck on launch week. Wonder if thats from recent patches.

Yeah I get what you’re saying dude it’s handy for that! Although I don’t think the front bumpers are as different as it looks just because of those stupid solid steps on the p12! But yeah with the crane on, it does lower the suspension even more! To be honest though I prefer to just take a maintenance trailer instead as they’re the same size as the large add ons, but I can detach it when I need to etc! It may well be dude, I owned it near the beginning and can’t say I remember it having the heavy crane either 👍🏻

The 1800 litre fuel tank weighs more than the 2000 litre plus 350 repair point maintenance add on. You can see it squash down the suspension more in the garage. That makes no sense. I bought and used this truck after selling the P16 as it has more add-on options, but the great length and those stupid fixed steps on the front bumper caused problems many times. I feel all the big trucks in the game suffer from the same problems. Their excessive size does not result in better overall performance, they spend so much engine power moving themselves that the are overall slower over any course, they are obviously less maneuverable, they have fewer add-on options, they have limited gearbox options and high gear is useless in all of them, and the few occasions where they should shine such as deep mud or snow still give them the same problems as supposedly lesser trucks like the Tayga.

I agree that most big trucks, particularly the American ones, are underpowered and yeah the medium size trucks do so much so well that these things aren’t really needed 👍🏻

@@itsmrlonewolf I did a test with the heavy trucks in North Port, west out of the garage and turn south on that really sticky deep mud on road to the service site. The Caterpillar 745C and the Azov Antarctic got through under their own steam, i.e. no winch use, at a reasonable speed. Every other heavy truck just bogged down as soon as it got to the first telegraph pole. Problem is, those two are restricted on what attachments you can have, so they're of limited use. Neither can have a high saddle, which is the one time you'd maybe really benefit from a big truck. The CAT can't attach a trailer, and the fuel carrier is only 1600 liters. The Tatarin and Yar 87 both managed under their own steam, and even the tiny Khan Marshall so it's not just big wheels that matter, but you'd think raw power could get the heavy trucks through.

Poppin Fresh yeah I completely agree, the Derry 4520 has a pathetic engine for its size, Jeff was saying they put some 3000bhp CAT engine in it in real life when it went to the Middle East! In real life it’s way more of a beast! And yeah most of the big trucks need a much more powerful engine, except the twin steer but as you say that’s limited by rear drive and it being long as fuck lol! All the big russian stuff has plenty of guts to handle it’s own size! If this p12 had that bumper gone, and the twin steer engine, it would go from some average “meh, don’t need it” truck to a bit of a favourite or fun at least 👍🏻

Steven Stringer true but if anyone knows how to stick a big fucking engine into anything it’s the yanks lol! I’ve seen motorised pencil sharpeners with bigger engines than some of the stuff in this game! The russian engines are big and meaty enough for the truck in this game, in the American trucks they’re all like a weaker version of what exists in real life or just “borrowed” from a smaller truck! The Derry 4520 apparently has the royal engine! And that’s about 5 times lighter than the derry! Derry needs the twin steer or it’s own genuinely powerful engine 👍🏻

When the ps4 gets mod support, how about you try the realistic trailer/cargo weight+30% more power+realistic fuel capacity combo? i'm the game the second time around but with these mods this time and i'll tell you, it sure as hell gives the heavies a lot more purpose since a bed and trailer with steel beams makes even a fully upgraded ank sweat a little, dunno about good ole tayga or the dolphin yet but that gives you a bit of an idea haha

You're right about the crane's lack of power mate. There is something fundamentally dodgy about the overall physics in this game. Don't get me wrong, I love it - but it ain't no physics simulator.

Yeah I’ve got a feeling that they broke the cranes recently because they used to be better and more consistent I think! I’ve been testing them a lot more recently and I can’t get a consistent answer! Sometimes it can’t do the exact same thing twice etc! Hopefully they fix it in the upcoming update! Yeah there’s definitely some broken things that they should be prioritising over steering adjustments and so on

I feel like power shouldn't be such a limiting agent for trucks in this game (especially the heavies). The p12 and derry longhorns should have less power than the kolobs and p16 because its a versatility vs speciality trade off but the p12 and DLs can't even handle their own weights

Yeah that’s the thing really most of the big stuff, particularly the American stuff, isn’t powered to match it’s weight so they are just more hassle than they’re worth, I don’t hate this truck, and it’s not broken levels of bad, it’s just not that great and I don’t see why I’d bother by now when I’ve got 20 plus other trucks that are stronger faster better etc! I think the Derry should have the same as the kolobs really or not be as woefully underpowered as it is! Power in the p12 and p16 isn’t a big issue, the bumper on this p12 is the worst, the p16 feels fine, but it’s only powering 2 axles so it’s more power per axle, the p12 feels weaker because it has another axle to feed which drains a third of the power without feeling anything in return, turning awd off doesn’t help either, it’s like as the p16 was designed as rear wheel, it doesn’t affect it like turning other trucks off does!

Every trucks steering steers the opposite direction barely but it’s just really bad with the freight liner. It’s pretty obvious in interior with all trucks.

Yeah I’ve tested it in quite a few since and some vehicles don’t do it but even the ones that do, it’s so fast it’s nothing, the freightliner is so bad you can do it in mud or snow and see your tyre tracks swerving the opposite way first and man did I crash that night thanks to that lol 👍🏻

From my experience this truck runs better in auto than in any of the low gears or high. When it runs out of power in auto it stops then the revs seem to drop and it gets more power from somewhere and gets going again, never been stuck with this towing the massive mission trailers.

Yeah the problem I found with this in auto is it was good in first, but as I was slowly going up a hill, it would change to second and so on depending on the steepness etc, until it can’t handle it and then stop and drop back to first! High low was a bit slow, high dies the second you need it, to be honest the gearbox doesn’t feel like it suits it that well!

If you have the cash then it may be worth trying first since you’ll most likely sell it and then don’t have to strip and sell something later on to try it and find out lol! So even by itself this thing is underpowered, and I was trying to use it in The Rift as a fuel truck. No wonder I couldn't get absolutely nowhere with this thing. With a fuel tanker this thing can't get up a 5% incline.

It does a bit but bare in mind that those barriers may not be 100% accurate as in the “hit box” area of it might be slightly different to what you see, every now and again it clips through things a tiny bit but honestly 99% of the time it hits the hard stuff and stays hit lol

I think the fuel thing is because it tries to start and drive so it’s in gear but no fuel, if it would just go in neutral with no fuel I think that would solve it. When you get to highway trucks a few ideas for testing: top speed, damage into a guardrail at full speed, controllability at speed, pulling a full load up a paved hill (the one going uphill toward the gateway where the Derry is found is decent), how well it copes with mild offroad (not gooey mud but the little patches of unpaved on roads / access roads / lumber mill pickup), acceleration and braking performance with a load. Of course all the regulars like jumping off the runway. I’ve been using highway trucks lately and I’ve been surprised by which highway trucks are actually useful vs. which just suck.

Someone made a mod for it that turned this thing into a monster with relatively few addons , primarily the new bumper and a V16 engine. There are options for chonky tires i think but frankly it didnt need it.

I'm commenting more than 2 years after this video was released. Although in the meantime the P12 got a little better (more add-ons, more interchangeable front bumpers), this truck for me remains one of the most disappointing of the entire game. On paper, it should be the best of the Pacific line. In practice, despite being the only one with AWD, it still seems to perform worse than the P16 and even the P512 PF. It should be a monster of a truck, instead, as you said quite aptly, its engine feels gutless. Between the sheer weight of this truck, and its big tyres, it shouldn't struggle or get stuck as much as it actually does. It really needs a beefier top engine. They gave one to the Derry Longhorn 4520, and the difference in performance is at least noticeable. They should give one to the P12 as well. As of mid-2023, there are many better options that feel more rewarding and more manoeuverable than this truck. Great video all the same, Mr Lone Wolf! 👍 Cheers! //Rick

The P12 is pretty useless if you’ve already rescued the P16. And once you have the Dan, they both are second tier.

Yeah I prefer the p16 by a long way! But the dan is more usable, but then I reckon the dolphin is even better as the dan has that special gearbox that keeps it too slow for my liking! But I do like the dan and still have mine 👍🏻

Yeah it’s sad really, they don’t need to be shit your pants good but if they just did at least 1 main thing well, then I could live with all the other drawbacks, the P16 is a towing monster and has an amazing horn, this p12 truck just feels gutless and I can’t see anything it does great? It’s not terrible, It does a fair few things reasonably well, and the rest it sucks, there’s no need to own this

Both the P12 & P16 for their size are too under-powered in game. Downgraded because of tier classification. In real life they could go anywhere, tow anything and they did. Never found either useful in game. Don't understand why so many people like them.

I really like the p16 for the horn lol, also it’s sheer size and it did well with the special trailers! But you’re right, the big stuff, particularly the American stuff has been made way too weak and thus not that useful! The medium sized stuff does too much too well to need these big lumbering things! I guess it depends when people find or buy them, if you got this early game, it would feel like a bit of a beast, but by the time you’ve got Vorons and taygas and dolphins and of course loafs, then these big things are just lacking for the money 👍🏻
