That truck is a beast I've climbed the mountain in Alaska to get an upgrade with it, towed the cat in Alaska and got a lot of tasks done with it. Its my main truck right now, and haven't done a task it couldn't handle

Yeah I still really like it and I use it all the time as a crane truck and it gets everywhere and never lets me down! I still think there’s better trucks for towing heavy cargo on rough terrain, or at least later in the game there is, but I definitely like this truck and would never sell it! It surprised me on some of these tests how capable it is particularly on its own!

It's a hidden gem, literally. I would happily use this as a work horse for the smaller delivery missions. Just seems to pull itself along through everything in my experience. Sounds good too.

This thing is so incredibly versatile. Did most of the checkpoint based time trials with this thing. Raised suspension and big chained tires for the win, every single time.

One of my 2 main trucks, the other being the Voron AE. Together, they have cleared most maps on their own (I used them as semi trucks), even helping other trucks that have rolled over or got stuck. Would love to see a new engine for it to get it into the "S" level in Power/weight ratio.

idk why but i just absolutely adore this truck. it's one of the best looking trucks in the game and it's got such a sweet old school engine idle and sound. it honestly reminds me of john, it's a little sluggish sometimes but it rarely if ever gets stuck even with the uod2's or the allterrain chained. never sold it since i found it. it's been great for low saddle hauling and it's a great crane truck too. pretty fuel efficient, very stable and easy to flip back over, and it keeps a decent pace even with the offroad box. the only problem i have with it is its lack of guts with heavy loads. it usually crawls along but will sometimes lock up going up hills, even with the top engine. i guess it would be pretty garbo with fuel economy if it had more power though. it's such a good, consistent, reliable workhorse. i love this thing to pieces.

This is part why I like Low+ in the offroad gearbox, you can lock in the diff-lock but still move along at a decent pace instead of slowly crawling.

Yeah true, sometimes when I’m doing my missions etc I’ll put a low range box in it, but for the purposes of these videos, giving it the worse of the 2 boxes for off roading, it helps kind of stretch out the trucks flaws and helps see how well the trucks can make up for having the wrong gearbox if that makes sense! Some vehicles are so good that they’re great with a high range box! Others definitely need the low range if there’s going to be a decent amount of off roading on the way! It depends which route I’m taking really, mostly on road or dirt and I’ll take the high range but on Zimnegorsk id usually have low range

Ahhh cool did you have to deliver something or just straight truck run? I did a different speed run test with loads of stuff and this truck placed very high! Will have a video on it soon hopefully! I like it a lot, I just like it a lot as my crane truck lol

Evening! I've found the 4964 quite good vertically, although this might be more luck than judgement. The trick is to let it drop into low first gear and crawl along, seems to pull most things upwards. I've also found that this does tend to roll for me more than the Royal but I suspect it's me running out of talent rather than a problem with the truck...;)

Evening dude 👍🏻 I can reply to this lol! I don’t think it’s terrible vertically but I don’t think it’s that good either lol! Even when it climbs it felt a bit slow? Again though I used it as a crane until after I got the ANK etc and by comparison the ANK motors up hills etc! I’m definitely on the off roading for the impatient side lol! Bloody hell I found this hard to roll and the royal I can’t stop rolling haha! That’s what I really like about this game though that there’s no one out right winning truck! There’s some that come close but it’s still a good 50% play style and some people love some trucks and swear by them and others would swear it’s terrible! This isn’t terrible at all, but in my gut she felt a bit powerless compared to the ANK and so on! Lol this game can make everyone run out of talent in seconds! Some spots are purpose built traps but I like it that way

I'm amused that you can roll a truck sideways down a mountain and take no damage, but try to drive on a relatively smooth road with a few small rocks and it's like you drove through a minefield.

I use the highway gear box about 90% of the time. But in Michigan and Alaska there are a few long and steep hills where I would recommend using the snowrunner gear box in(low-) for hill decent. This is especially useful if you are hauling a big trailer with high saddle. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

The western star is slow but that and my fleet star are juiced to the gills almost. Im 83 percent done with michigan. Last night the western star was my recovery vehicle for that mission where you transport 3 connexs. I rolled my truck and trailer buy the 2 bridges and the western star did a great job recovering me. Almost sold it but its a keeper

Yeah fully upgraded they’re both much better and more capable trucks! I’m sure I know the mission you mean, and that’s what I almost exclusively use it for is recovery and it’s never let me down yet I don’t think! I had to be honest about the slight lack of power at the limit but I still wouldn’t sell it, it’s a solid little truck

Here I am 8 months later. I’m bored with mods and I never used this truck. Now Phase 3 is out it’s my go to long logs truck at the moment. I use the high range gear box on it and it works kinda well for an early truck

@@hackxy1165 I did that too, then but needed cash so sold them and the p16, fleetstar, royal, derry, all all the scouts. , but you can always buy them back, as long as you sell mods separately. Am new to game, as bought it late in summer sale. just reaching quarry in Russia map.

It can definitely haul, but it feels very slow to me when hauling up hills, along roads or at least level ground though and it’s more than enough for the job!

I am using the Fleetstar 2070a but recently unlocked this truck...It looks like it has the medium log tray add-on that the Fleetstar is lacking, and the wheel axles sit at the back of the chassis so technically it should be better for towing a semi trailer too. Would this be a good truck to replace the Fleetstar 2070a? Or should I keep both? Great video, thanks! 👏

This truck is my favorite. It not the most capable in game, but definitely one of the most beautiful. The East Bloc ATVs are slightly better at driving in mud, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for style.))

Absolutely unneccesary... i feel like the game could exist just fine without it, and it would not be missed, as so many other vehicles are better then it day in and day out, if it is a matter of not going slow and getting there, i guess its good for that but so are the azov trucks to be honest, the caterpilla 745C also does a better job, the pacific p16's and P12s are also better but they have limited options but whatever the azov 4220 does there is at least 1 or more offroad trucks that can do that just the same if not even better and faster without being tipped over easily

I will get round to it eventually dude, I’m just doing the trucks you can find in game first as everyone can get them whereas saving up 140k odd for that isn’t easy with all the upgrades etc lol! Personally though I agree with the dudes who have already commented! It’s honestly not that great and I could recommend a lot of other trucks to you that I think you’d like a lot more and are more useful! The Azov 5319 is a brilliant truck and will cost you about £110,000 upgraded! Apparently that big red Azov 61234 or whatever it’s called is good too! It’ll move about the same speed as that Antarctic but for me when I tried the Antarctic, I couldn’t stand the steering, it felt too jerky for articulated steering and I spent more time trying to drive straight than anything! Probably wouldn’t matter in tough terrain but trying to go down a straight road was a nightmare lol! And yeah I found the CAT for free which is roughly the same truck basically! And I wouldn’t say that’s the most useful either but it has its moments! In all honesty mate unless you’re loaded and cash isn’t an issue then I’d sell it and get another better truck/trucks for the price of that! It’s an expensive toy that I’ll get eventually but it’ll be one of the last if not the last I buy permanently because I don’t think it’s that good to be honest!

Oh you are one of the others that replied lol! But yeah Ernesto is right and you could get like the Voron Grad and one of the other Vorons for the price of this! Or the Derry which has rear steering and is definitely better than this! Yeah the P12 was alright from what I’ve tried so far! As I said it’ll be the last thing I get I reckon and there’s way more useful and fun ways to spend your money! But you can sell the upgrades off it and then sell it and get all your money back which is nice so there’s no harm in trying everything but I was a bit disappointed in this, I thought it would be a monster! Just use the cash from it to keep buying and selling the next truck etc and see what tickles your fancy lol!

To be fair it’s rescued me multiple times even on Zimnegorsk but never hauled in Russia! No if it had more power it would go up my list lol! Like the twin steer which is powered by a bloody aircraft Carrier engine!

I am commenting pretty late on this video, but i am new to the game, and wrapping up michigan, this has become one of my go-to scout vehicles, in part due to how large the fuel tank is relative to its consuption, seems to never have an issue with getting low on fuel

I don't really use trailers much, I usually sell every trailer I find. I have a flatbed on this truck and it does pretty well with 2 points of cargo. Slow but dependable. The fact it's so hard to roll over actually makes it pretty useful in Russia.

@@justinlynch3 Well it does have the tendency to frikken roll over I shit you not. I've been using the Navistar 5000 MV quite a bit and that truck is really good I barely roll over in that truck lol. By the way what is the best gearing and motor for the Western Star?

@@mrjb1445 Navistar is good, though I have rolled it more then the White Star. However, what you use it for could make the difference. I used it purely as a cargo carrier, truck and flatbed and that was it. Adding the cargo crane does change a trucks center of gravity, and trailers could possibly push you over as well. As for gearing it's hard to say. The truck doesn't feel necessarily speedy, so maybe a Offroad gearbox would be better? But, I've never tried the Highway gearbox in that truck. You sell modifications back for the same price you brought it for, so I say just try out the different gearbox options and see what feels best for you.
