Nicely done! we have the same National Park as a playground for photos! I have an Ansco Viking with a 105mm 4.5. Not the same as that fine Voigtlander you have but it takes a nice sharp 6x9 image. So much fun playing with film again! I recently purchased an inexpensive Klein Tools laser distance finder the I think will work great with my Ansco. It measures in feet or meters and matched the distance I get on my SLR lenses when testing it.

I’ve heard that utility rangefinders and golf rangefinders work quite well for such circumstances! Nowadays I use an old external Voigtländer rangefinder. It also works well with my 6x6 Perkeo II

@@ExpiredBren I had been looking for a nice rangefinder by Voigtländer or other manufactures for a while when I found the Klein Tools finder. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I also have a Ansco Speedex Special R (for rangefinder) that shoots 6x6. I got them both fairly cheap and couldn't resists getting new bellows and CLA for both. It sounds like you have some nice cameras! Folding cameras are really fun to use even though they really make you think more about every shot!

@@tgchism The Ansco Speedex Special R is a great camera! Keep your eyes peeled in the next couple weeks for a review very relevant to that item

Thanks Robbie! I’m a big fan of them old folders as you might imagine

nice images! I think there are separate rangefinders you can get and mount on a cold shoe! these folders are fun to play with for sure.

Mine did come with an external rangefinder, but it was quite inaccurate. For this video I had to guess the distance!

I love that you care to pronounce it correctly. If only people would start saying Rollei correctly too. I mean, it's the same sound as Leica! ;-)

Haha I am (somewhat) fluent in German so I try my best to give it the proper pronunciation! For Japanese camera brands on the other hand I am quite bad at proper pronunciation.

Beautiful images man. This camera packs a punch for being so compact, and that lens is so damn sharp!

Beautiful results Bren. The combination of the film and lens makes for an extremely sharp and nice rendering

Thanks a lot. Winter can be great for B&W, provided that you pick the interesting spots like you did. I have a Bessa ii and I had a Zeiss. The Zeiss had this great feature that a red dot would come up after exposure. It only disappeared when you started to roll on. The Bessa is ergonomically better for me, although somewhat weird. A big shutter release pin on the lid. Optically great cameras. Great fun to use, and relaxing.

Thanks! The Ikonta folders are great cameras. Unfortunately the price can be a tad inflated for most Voigtlander and Zeiss folders

Really cool captures! Really liked the detail shots with the trees. I recently took my new-to-me kodak folding pocket camera out to a simmilar landscape and tried it out, can't wait to get film developed. Thanks for sharing.

Got one of those cheap laser distance measurer for carpenters etc, but outdoors on a sunlight snowy scene neither you nor the meter can see the read dot. Maybe a more expensive one would work. I have used a measuring tape too. Problem is for close distances ie 4-20 feet, and with wider aperture , the front cell focus may need calibration. The way to do adjust that is sometimes hard to find on line for a given camera, as well as knowing what screws to remove or turn. Tried it on a 1938 Bessa RF once. Great image quality yours has.

Thanks for the information Jon! I hadn’t thought of using a laser distance measurer before, but that could be quite useful. It’d also help with my golf handicap ⛳️

Nice Bessa I, nicer for still having the 645 mask, which a number of different cameras had but are nearly always lost now. One with the Color-Skopar is a nice find as well. This lens was the standard lens on the Bessa II (drop the 645 feature; add auto frame counting and rangefinder; loose front cell focus). The better lens and shutter on this version make it very usable if you are a judge of distance. The Skopar is an improved Tessar copy design which is very sharp in a narrow aperture range, 5/6 - 11. Depth of field should cover any focus errors, except at close distance. Front cell focusing gives relatively poor sharpness at close distances, so this is better as landscape and scenic camera anyway. Great camera as used here.
@ExpiredBren Жыл бұрын
That’s good to know that front cell focusing gives poorer sharpness at closer distances! I hadn’t been made aware of that until now. This is definitely more ideal as a midday hiking camera given the lens’ abilities
