It would seem like NY never gets snow but they do. Try living in Ironwood MI. I went to work outside installing cable TV and in 8 hours it snowed 3 feet. I still continued to work. The snow banks were so high I had to have a ladder to get up on them to set my ladder to the cable lines. I cleared off a spot to set my ladder and found the top of the street sign. The average temp there was -22F. The total snowfall for that year was 298.1".

At 20:00hrs Eastern time it was -11ºC in NY NY. At 21:00 it has fallen to -14ºC. Friday 4th January 2018. It is -27º in North NY state. Average cross winds blowing NW by W from lake Erie direction. Detroit -21ºC. at 21:00hrs.

At 21:00hrs Eastern time USA Sunday 7th of January it was -16ºC. Philadelphia -12ºC Baltimore -13ºC Washington -12ºC and Boston -16ºC. But there seems another milder weather system moving north from the South west eliminating the freeze in the west. So now thawing tempretures exist in all 6 central states from North to South. From Texas, Kansas to North Dakota and west SW Canada.
