Cascading Hydroelectric Stations are Better for Maximized Output of Electricity. Looped Tunnels from Reservoirs are Much Better from the Headstream of Water towards the Downstream by the Water Grid.

What BS!! The amount of energy lost in converting, pumping, fluid drag, and conversion back again is immense, and that is AFTER having to transmit the electricity to the Snowy; and this is meant to be making use of excess production periods? It was NEVER going to save money or energy. It's as stupid as the hydrogen con by the gas industry. Renewable at grid scale is simple, pick the best locations where you want power stored for distribution (preferable locations with affordable land & a need for work) and install large-scale batteries - such as iron & zinc batteries, very old but reliable and long-lasting technologies. Sure, in time there will be even better battery technologies available, but these would already provide two to four days of unlimited power storage that can be switched on & off in a fraction of a second and located in places between the power source & power demand instead of having to re-route power to Victoria and back. These old techs will last twenty to forty years easily, and when new technology is available it can be phased in while the old is still doing its stuff, no drama.
