For me Genie will forever be that song! I’m not really a huge sone but there’s no denying the impact this song (together with Gee-wow, 2009 was a huge year for them) has had on the industry. It is the personification of kpop! Everything about it is exactly how it’s supposed to be. OT9 forever!!!

I liked SNSD, but about three months ago, my favourite rookies STAYC did a special stage of SNSD's song "Way to Go" which I have never heard, and it was my first time hearing it and imma just say that cover made me fall in love with SNSD and now I'm a full-on SONE, listening back to their old songs and discovering new ones. Into the New World is definitey the best debut in K-Pop history.

Oh hell yeah, SNSD is my other group besides DC. I first discovered SNSD through their Japanese discography and the Japanese version of Genie. Now that you did ITNW...you're gonna need to react to Dreamcatcher's cover of it. Genie is what made them huge. Still one of my favorites from them. I think going chronologically is the best way to go through SNSD's MV's. If you're gonna stray...I recommend my absolute favorite SNSD song (from either their Korean or Japanese discographies), Galaxy Supernova. It's just the most incredible song.

My OG faves! They only recently got dislodged from 1st place in my heart by Dreamcatcher, partly because they haven't promoted as a group in soooo long but they're still special to me. I always like when people go back to listen to older kpop songs and discover older groups. Then you can really appreciate where the kpop you see today came from, what it was inspired by, what's still considered "classics"... It seems like just yesterday that 2nd gen groups were going strong and people couldn't get enough of them. Sometimes I miss it, but that's the way life goes. Good on you for taking the time to look back at these songs!

Genie always seemed like a warning. They can be whatever you wish so be damn careful what you wish for. I advise you to put off thhe ballad version of Into the New World until you are well into your journey. Otherwise it will just be a song. If you don''t tear up you went too soon.
