The reason "Girls Generation" sounds like it's from the 80's is because it is lol. This version is a remake of Lee Seung Chul's original song "Girls' Generation" that was released for his album way back in 1989. It's also the inspiration for their group name "SNSD" or "Girls' Generation".

Just so you know, Into the New World is the single most iconic debut song among girl groups (and probably any idol group). Every girl group trainee from pretty much every company must learn this song and dance during their training process because of this song's vocal and choreo combination. It's a test for trainees to see how good their endurance and breathe control is. Every girl group even debuting today knows this song. In addition, ITNW is still incredibly relevant today as it is consistently used in activist movements such as LGBT parades, during the MeToo movement, and as South Korea protested to eventually successfully impeach and remove their former President.

@@prasetyoaji3105 Exactly! The theme of Into the New World is they are entering a new exciting chapter of their lives, leaving all of their sadness of the past behind, and though they know the future will be rough, they will face it together. It is incredibly relevant to the industry and the trials they face. Even Dreamcatcher did a live performance cover when they debuted.

People started to really love SNSD only in 2009, after their comeback with GEE. For the first year and a half of their career they were one of the most hated groups in Korea. And one of the main reasons was their strong bond with their labelmates Super Junior and TVXQ! - 2 of the most popular male groups at that time (in 2008 TVXQ!'s fandom - Cassiopeia - was listed in Guinness World Record Book as the biggest fandom in the world with more than 800 000 members). They were called "Plastic Generation" etc. In 2008 Girls' Generation went through the "Black Ocean" at Dream Concert. Everybody but Sones turned their lightsticks down and during their performance with "Girls' Generation" people were screaming: "Wonder Girls!" (WG was a female group under JYP, one of the most popular and influential groups). SNSD went through a lot of shit on their way, even after they became the National Girl group.

loved this! ITNW is the most iconic kpop debut and their vocals were out of this world, especially for a debut song. The choreo is also really intense and high energy, and they performed all their debut stages singing live while dancing the full choreo which is super impressive and why all trainees have to learn this song. I'm glad you are waiting to do the ballad version, but if you still wanted to check out a live stage of ITNW before then, the performance from their Girls & Peace tour is also iconic and I would definitely recommend it. Their song Girls' Generation has an 80s feel to it because the original song by Lee Seungcheol was released in 1989, which is also the year most of the girls were born in so it is special to them.

Into the New World is one of the most iconic debut songs. It’s literally the start of the girl’s generation. It’s probably still one of the most covered Girl Group songs today, I feel like almost every female idol has performed this at least once in their training or idol career. You know it’s an older song since the MV is not in widescreen format. Apparently the girls practiced the song for over a year before they debuted.

Instruments: Yes, Seohyun, being the daughter of a piano teacher, is quite good with piano and has actually played live before. Everything else, not so much. Sooyoung, ever the actress, actually did take some "lessons" from No Min Woo, the drummer of SM's band TRAXX before shooting the MV, but she's just really doing a good job of faking it here. There are several famous drummers who also sing lead vocals, BTW. Some other members can play keyboards and Taeyeon "played" guitar in a musical after this, but for this video and years later when they pretended to be a band in My Oh My, it was all fake. The amazing thing about the early SNSD singles up to Gee was the fact they were all "in the can" and recorded before they ever debuted, meaning that the majority of the members were still in High School and under 18 when Into the New World, Girls Generation, Kissing You, Baby Baby and many more were recorded! The MV's were recorded later thru 2008.

It's funny how you said, "is the reason people stan them back in the day is because of their vocals?" ITNW is so iconic that it has become a sort of national anthem in SK and it's usually sung during Pride parades and anti-government protests, notably the one that ended with the impeachment of Park Geunhye. Fun fact, when this happened in 2016 it reached #1 in SK charts for the first time (it hadn't reached #1 when released). Please check the lyrics if you haven't, you'll understand why they're so relevant and why the ballad version is so emotional. Strong voice at 3:47 is Yuri. Sadly she was not trained as a vocal since her position was dancer, visual/actress line and eventually lost confidence in her vocals.

Girls’ Generation is so popular because they are a complete package group from vocals, dance lines, visuals, being variety queens. They all have that. Imagine, every announcement of their comeback the Naver shuts down because there are a lot of people waiting for them. Also, the fact that they opened doors for these powerful generations of girl groups is so cool. They dominated the industry that was only focused on boy groups. They are worth stanning for, and they are real legends. After years of being active in the industry, people are still longing for them and waiting for their comeback. You will stan a lot of groups in today’s time but GIRLS’ GENERATION IS OUR HOME. And I’m not exaggerating because my heart still looks for them.

I love this (into the new world) video simply for the fact that they didn't have any makeup on (and the iconic song itself). The song is about Girls doing anything they want and not being held back by convention and stereotype. Very fitting for the group. Airplane girls = Taeyeon and Sooyoung Graffiti girls = Jessica and Sunny Motorcycle = Tiffany Coffee shop = Yuri Dance break = Hyoyeon Dress maker = Yoona Ballet = Soehyun Girls Generation song is actually an 80s song. Fun fact. Most of the girls were born in 1989 and this song was originally released in 1989.

People Stan them for a lot of things. The reason why we have a lot of girl groups today is because of them. There weren’t much girl groups back then. They went through black ocean, which is when the whole crowd turns off their light stick and stays quiet so it felt like they were performing to no one. Everything was so black, it looked like no one was there to support them. But they made it through. And was one of the first groups to make it to Ten years Together. These girls are an inspiration to kpop idols now. They have done so many different concepts. Which is one of the first in kpop to have different type of songs and concepts. I mean Yoona created the visual, center position, Taeyeon the vocal queen that all idols look up to, Hyoyeon the DANCING QUEEN OF KPOP, that idols look up to. These girls were the biggest kpop girl group, so big that even tho there last song was in about 2017, they still on top ten kpop groups and in top ten of most won awards.

And that's how you debut ladies and gentlemen. ITNW actually was meant for their senior group around early 2000 with faster tempo (you can see it with original tempo on ITNW remix version) and Girls' Generation was a remake of song from 1989 that's why both of the songs sounds like a throwback i guess 🤔 also maybe because you see the mv, that's why you think it's vocal heavy song, but the choreo itself quite hard (based on other people, i have no knowledge in dancing). Not to mention they are big number girl group, beside the choreo there's also the change in formations too, taeyeon herself has to run around from the center to the back after belting just to go to the center again and hit another belt and then run backwards to the side (you can check video of snsd's performance fun fact, it's quite fun). And most girl groups on the 3rd gen have this one essential step, they learned ITNW before their debut that's why a lot of groups covering this song, since they've learned it anyway 😂

I’m already subscribed~ For ITNW the lyrics really fits with the music video. And this song has been used in many rally/protests in South Korea, university protests. It was also used in a protest in Thailand. The lyrics really speaks to these people and that shot up the song’s popularity even more. The ballad truly is an emotional masterpiece. 💜 Other than that, a lot of these survival shows use it to test the trainees with their vocals (with some dancing). If you see their live for this, the dance is pretty difficult compared to other dances during their time. And a lot of newer girl groups members mentioned that ITNW was a song everyone had to learn to sing and dance while being a trainee. lol. It won’t hurt to react to the Into The New World concert version with Jessica. In my opinion their team has the best vocals during their time (between idol girl groups that debuted around their time). Girls’ Generation originally was release in the late 80s by a male singer. 😂 The only legit instrument player is Seohyun, you got clowned akdjsksks! Their songs are so old school because this was releases 2007, that’s also why these videos are sooooo low quality and with no subs. I enjoyed watching these videos with you! And don’t feel bad about not recognizing them~ The make up and their looks really changed and matured. 😂 Great video, Sir Austin!

So emotional and just super powerful. for clarity, I had a friend recommend it to me, and told me the back story about the group, it was maybe my second or third song that I heard from SNSD. I wasn't invested in the group but the pure emotional weight that they put into that performance brought me to tears. I don't know why. Into the new world became a staple for every girl group in the industry. The original singer of Girls Generation said he would only let them cover it if he approved what they did with it

Before I became a massive 2NE1 fan, SNSD was my group. Girls Generation was my jam in 2007. I fell in love with Taeyeon and although I don't really follow them anymore, she remains one of my fav.

Austin just to understand the popularity of SNSD during the 2nd generation was when the boy groups like TVXQ, Super Junior and Big Bang were dominating the industry. It was just with SNSD and since why the girl groups were so much hated by boy groups fangirls, started to be in the same level to compete in charts and music shows with these big names. And just to finish the 3 groups who started this era were Wonder Girls, SNSD and Kara; later on there were others like T-ara, F(x) and 2ne1.

so happy you're getting into know snsd ❤ and also second generation kpop and subtitles its a non existent relationship. back in 2012 when I was first seeing kpop I would see entertainment shows (like weekly idol) for 40 minutes straight without understanding a single word. I'm really glad that nowadays there's subtitles in almost everything and people are actually understanding what the idols are talking about... but I did learn some korean out of this, so wasn't all bad

Into the new world is easily the most iconic kpop debut track, all girl groups cover it nowadays, its almost a rite of passage for becoming a girl group. It's also iconic in what it has done to help with freedom marches for many social aspects in South Korea. Its been used in various freedom of speech movements, protests for the impeachment of one of the previous presidents, woman march and equal woman university rights, Korea's #MeToo campaign and so many more nowadays and not just in Korea but around Asia too. There's so much more just their debut track has done for both kpop and Korea/Asia as a whole. Iconic is just one of the words for it 😊

The song that became like second next to there national anthem. That's how much their debut song so memorable and meaningful. And the last scene of ITNW, I always tear up everytime I remember Sooyoung saying something like she's running for her dream as a rookie. And look where she is, a member of one of the most influential girl group.

INTO THE NEW WORLD is will be always and forever the best song in KPOP world. "ITNW" is not like the other KPOP songs. That song is so meaningful and important especially if you are Korean because it was used in many protests. Not only in Korea but in other part of the world. So I'm proud of it. And also the song is connected to them. Connected to GIRLS' GENERATION. That means girls will take over the world so INTO THE NEW WORLD AND GIRLS' GENERATION. GIRLS' GENERATION is a trademark song of GIRLS' GENERATION.

OMG the intro of Into The New World... 😮😮😮 Gets me every time. AND THE CHORUS TOO! That freaking song. I mean it's not even that I like it, it's like watching the Queen of England and you just have respect for the damn woman, I've heard it so many times in so many different occasions (even variety shows to introduce big personalities) that it's just THE song.

Into the new world is ICONIC, SNSD is one of those groups that debuted with such a meaningful song if not the only. It's so iconic and meaningful that 13 years after its release, the song is still played and used by a lot of people for protests and movements, not only in korea. The song was played in Womens' March in New York, LGBTQ+ protests, Abortion protests and many more in South Korea. Tiffany said that for her it will always be the most iconic and her favorite snsd song, and we could all agree. STAN QUEENS! ❤

Fun fact: They were told that they won't debut if they can't sing and dance it perfectly at the same time for ITNW and so they did practice a lot. It's really different with the generation today, most of new groups can sing, yes, but not as stable when you combined it with dancing. They will improve in time.
