The odds of needing to pull a gun in your lifetime is very, very low. When you DO have to pull, the odds of needing to FIRE are low. Most of the time then presentation of the gun ends the threat with no shots fired the vast majority of the time. This is all based on actual statistics. When you DO have to fire, 1-3 rounds is the vast majority of maximum shots fired. I’ll continue to carry my S&W .38 snub as the reliability and dependability is incredible. Power is good and I am accurate with it. It’s light enough and small enough to never have an excuse to leave it behind. Works for me!

This is why I prefer a revolver over a semi-auto for home and personal defense. Except for a hammer lock hole (which I don't use), there are no safety features in a revolver that I have to think about before using it to protect my home and my loved ones.

Back when Skeeter Skelton wrote for Shooting Times Magazine, I remember his articles (and others) proclaiming you should not carry anything smaller than a 44 magnum for a concealed carry gun...and you should never leave the house without a backup on your ankle...and of course you should have at LEAST enough ammo to reload both guns at least three times! I always chuckled at that. I loved his stories but he and I disagreed on personal carry. What you just said in this video has been my mantra since forever. I carry a cheap five-shot 38 spl. snubby revolver that will go bang with just a pull of the trigger. I have always advocated a small revolver for concealed carry for all the reasons you just mentioned. I have had hardened gun experts argue with me on all these points but I have always "stuck to my guns". Very nice video!

Just saw this and I too, favor a snubbie. Most people go with S&W J frames, or the Rugers, but I have found that Charter Arms offers alot of snubbies that can vie for top dogs. I have two of their pistols and love them both. The first one is a 5 shot .38 called the Southpaw that is directly made for us left handed shooters. The other is a .45 acp 5 shot snub that does not require moon clips. I carry one of the two every day when I go out.. Their line up is awesome and they have a life time repair setup. Plus, they are reasonable in price.

I agree mostly with your opinion, I've carried snub nose for years S&W airweight in a soft Holster as I type this stuck deeply in my pocket ( baggy Carhart logger jeans). I consider it to be my first and up close and personal gun. ( the hey buddy have you got a light stand by). All said my 45 Glock 30 goes along too in my coat or vehicle depending on season . One thing I have noticed is that pocket lint can hamper the trigger reset spring thus rendering my J frame a single shot and now I take preventive care. These guns are great for women and probably any caliber will suffice, no rapist will accomplish his sickening deed with blood squirting out of his gut. Regardless of what caliber made the hole.

For conceal and carry I recommend 38 special or 380, both have enough power without the over penetration. If you have to shoot in a public place or for home defense the last thing you want is a stray round flying down the street or into the your neighbors house.

Wow this a great video. I'm 43 and have been into guns And shooting since I was 10. I've owned and carried just about everything in twenty something years of carrying openly and concealed. This includes a brief time I worked as a bounty hunter. I think this man's advice is spot on. I agree with everything in this video. That said my preferred handgun for personal defense is a revolver. My Taurus 605 357 snub nose is a great gun. At 24 ounces it's not an air weight but it's no a boat anker.either. it's easy to carry and conceal in just shorts ND t shirt. And like this man states because it's so small And easy to carry it's ALWAYS with me. That really is one of the most important things, have a gun. I've had a lot of training with guns and am proficient with many types. However I'd prefer to not have to sorry about flipping a safety off during a life And death situation. Fine motor skills, and other things go out the window with an adrenaline dump. I've needed my weapon to Dave my life,a few times. And I can tell you despite how much you train And practice swiping off a safety. You MAY not under severe stress And addrenline. Plus for me and my body type a revolver be it a 3",4"or a 2"snub nose. They all conceal and carry better for me than any semi auto pistol I've tried. I feel perfectly safe and fine with my Taurus 605 snub nose loaded with 5 rounds of 357 magnum hollow points. Kahr. Double action trigger is also on some SW microcompacts. Was considering wheel gun like Taurus 905 or LCR, but after seeing how thin Kahr is along with super smooth trigger (smoother than wheel guns!) it's hard to argue for wheel gun.

You definitely spoke the truth about the weight of the gun if it’s to heavy you’re probably not going to carry it iam a senior citizen And the smith and Wesson snubby 637 is the greatest gun ever always remember shot placement is the key not how many shots your revolver is

I don’t have a snubby quite yet, but I do carry a 4” Ruger Police Service Six. I’m not worried about needing more than six rounds, and I like the security in not worrying about jams. In case of failure, just pull the trigger again and BANG. Simple, no safeties to worry about under stress. Loved the video

I've watched hundreds of gun reviews and this video is by far one of my favorites, nothing but truth, logic and common sense. I work from home, shuttle my kids around to friends houses and different activities, go to the grocery store and a restaurant here and there and go to church on Sundays. I carry the Taurus 605 and am looking into possibly getting the LCR 357 DA only for pocket carry in the summer where I wear shorts 99% of the time. I do own a few semi-autos and love shooting them but for my lifestyle a 5 shot snubbie is all I need for edc. It drives me nuts when I hear these tactical commando guys on KZbin saying a 5 shot revolver is no good or will get you killed. I don't think I'll be getting jumped by 10 ninjas anytime soon when going to church or the grocery store so I think I'll stick with my 5 shot snubbie.

I don't know if you already bought a 327 mag, but if you haven't, I would advise against it. The reason is the ammo if far more difficult to find, and relatively expensive. I cautioned my friend not to get one, but he did anyways. Now he's sorry he didn't listen. But, of course, it's your decision.

you are right about everything you said. most people do not need 15 rounds to launch all around at the person threatening them and all the bystanders who get hit with their spray and pray mentalty. but it is good to have such guns, even now during the civil unrest we have, but the revolver backing that gun up is always a good thing. I have sigs walthers stc, and I love them, but around town, around the house, my 5 or six shot revolvers are ready, and usiually one small one is on me. right now it is a S&W M432 32 hr mag. but colt , taurus, and other S&Ws come out. like you I rotate ( to fit mood , clothing and suroundings and recoil tolorence level that day). and yes 9 22lr cci stingers or velositers is ten feet away from the muzzel into someones face is going to tell them they made a mistake. love that 32 you got. good luck with it. Buffalo Bore has some nice standard pressure defensive loads for it using wadcutter bullets.

I had an instructor once tell me his way of practicing a revolver reload. At his range though. Have your reload in your pocket or wherever you carry the speedloader. Shoot your 5 or 6 rounds at about 5 to 7 yards. Then without looking at your revolver { he would close his eyes on his range] empty the spent casings, acquire your reload, load them and then shoot those rounds. He said this was a fairly realistic situation in a defensive shooting because you never want to lose sight of your opponent. Of course I brought up the "peripheral vision" situation, and he thought that was not something you can truly depend on in a real defensive scenario. We had lots of discussions about that.

My first carry firearm was a Smith and Wesson model 65 stainless steel, 4 inches barrel 357 magnun. I carry this gun for about 4 years. I do carry a pistol now, but I won't mind at all carrying a revolver. I'm in fact looking to get a revolver in 357 magnun to keep it at home or carrie it once in awhile. Love the caliber and the fact that I can use 38, 38+p, and of course 357. God bless

I'm A retired cop. Now 77 years old, and no longer required to look for trouble. I started out having to buy my own duty weapon (revolver) but eventually transitioned to semiautomatics. I always carried a snubby as my back-up. It came in handy at times. Now the Ruger LCR 38+P will do anything I need it to do. Besides, it is fun to shoot. I have others, bigger or same size, but this is my favorite. If you practice, you won't need anything else.

Yep. My ccw is a LCR in 327 magnum, usually with 32 H&R in it. The house gun is a 12 gauge pump. If you watch that video from the shooting that Jack Wilson stopped in Texas, the first victim actually tried to pull his gun but it hung up on his clothing. My LCR doesn't do that.

Perfectly said. I agree 100% I carry that LCR like yours. You are absolutely correct. Bigger and heavier guns usually stay in the safe. I usually make excuses not to carry my Glock 19. I don't think twice when I grab my LCR. Light and comfortable. We all just need to carry. Just choose a firearm that will be comfortable for you. If its too big and heavy, you just wont carry it. Trust me I know. Also make sure you practice with it. Great video my friend !!

I renctly traded my Ruger LC9s for a Taurus 856 stainless and I love it. The reason for the trade is Arthiritis which makes it nearly impossible for me to load a mag, while I can always load a revovler. I 've had several semi autos and some of the safety work opposite than others so I never knew if my safety was on or off. WIth my revolver, it's like you said, don't put your finger on the trigger unless you are ready to fire, and then it's bang bang bang. I use to own a Suoer Commachcee for my home protection and I liked it, but it was only one shot. I liked the thought of a 410 shot shell because they usually don't go through the wall to the next room. For indoor use, I liked it, but I traded it off too.

Living in Wisconsin being both an open carry & concealed carry state,.. & being cold 3/4's of the year I can carry pretty much any firearm I want. I do carry my Smith model 649 .357 snubby, the "Humpback" snag free with the option of cocking for a head shot, but I feed it .38 special plus P's for carry. But I carry 1911's too, ...alot. From my 3" barrel models to a commander size, & I carry a Browning Hi-power alot also. Their thin, light, can be carried IWB very easy. I often carry a 4" barrelled 5 shot .45 colt revolver in a high ride Speedmaster Galco holster no problem. We wear untucked flannels, sweat shirts & coats. I love a snubby, but you can carry any reasonable gun concealed. Options,... the American way !
