Coming from a local's perspective the only thing that caught me off guard was the Tiyanak trying to unite with its mother and the mother killing it... Based on folklore Tiyanaks eats human (they do it by appearing as a normal baby at first and cries in a lone area may it be forests or trash cans then as someone comes close or picks it up... baaaam!) and tries to take revenge on its mother for discarding/aborting it.

Interesting how in this episode how the Tiyanak was the victim instead. Loved the development of this episode but I really disliked Nova's brutality.
@hermess.hollock82913 жыл бұрын
Episode 3 was really wild! I already suspected that the tiyanak was Nova’s baby, but I didn’t expect her to be that brutal. I feel kinda bad for thinking this, but I’m glad she got what she deserved. Episode 4 will answer some of your questions about the twins, and Talagbusao, their father. Love your reactions and theories, as always! 💕

the chant "ibunyag ang nakatago" means "reveal what is hidden". tiyanak = the show did an interesting take on how it looks like. the spider-like limbs goes well with the creature because the creature is supposed to be nimble. the tiyanak originally does not have the spider-like legs. amang paso = father pot (like a flower pot); he is another variation of duwende (dwarf). nova aurora = based on nora aunor (a popular singer / female actor in the philippines back in the 1960's); her being called the shining star in trese is the equivalent of nora being called superstar in real life. ABC-ZNN = the tv station is a nod to one of our tv stations, ABS-CBN. Kulam = curse / hex i agree with both of your reactions yet again. it was spot on. i snickered when you girls reacted on the "storm is coming" line of amang paso. hmmm... as for the surprising scene in the episode it is definitely nova stabbing the tiyanak to death.
@SnuggleswithVy3 жыл бұрын
I looked up some images of what tiyanaks are usually shown as and was surprised to see it differed from the show's interpretation. Love that they stayed true to the characteristic/description of the creatures though. Haha I will call him father pot from now on. Cool triva! At this point, all the bad guys are saying the same line.😂
@irwinvillanueva13083 жыл бұрын
wow, it's cool to know that you researched about the tiyanaks and, yes, they are hugely different from trese's interpretation. hahaha. now you know in case in the future you'll see anything filipino that begins with "amang" (father really is either ama or tatay but if we use father that will portray some kind of being we use ama) followed by another word you can now just research what the other word means in google. yes, the "storm is brewing" stuff is cliché and i admit the show's build up to whatever they want to build is fast.

You can feel the little baby's heart break at 13:45 It killed the doctor coz it thought that she was the reason that it was separated from nova so it wasn't hostile to nova. It was expecting a warm welcome but got a stab at the back.

TRIVIA: Crispin and Basilio are household names in the Philippines because they're characters in Noli Me Tangere, a novel by national hero Jose Rizal. It's required reading in high school. Also, "The Monkey and the Turtle" is a fable, also by Rizal :-P

Nuno and Amang Paso are the same "species" of duwende. . Nuno is a "Nuno sa Punso" (goblin of the mound) and Amang Paso is a "Nuno sa Paso" (goblin of the pot). Trivia: the term Nuno is actually short for "Ninuno" which means Ancestors. They were prayed to for favors and blessings during the pre-colonial PH (kinda like how the Chinese does, i.e Mulan) but their image evolved to goblin-like creatures that brings badluck / bad omens to a person or a household when the Spaniards declared that only God (of Christianity) grant prayers.

Love your reaction girls. I like how you sometimes pause for a second because of confusions. Fact about tiyanak, there are different stories about them. Tiyanak can be came from the mother who dies before giving birth and result to be "born from the ground". Another story is it that the child dies before being baptized and thus became a tiyanak. Tiyanak can also be a fetus that is aborted and now seek revenge to who steal their life from them. The tiyanak commonly at the forest on what I know. They attract their victims buy using their former baby appearance and cries until their victime see them and carry them home. It will attack its victim when they are defenseless and eat it.

Usually, there are Tiyanaks are demon babies or something like that, but there are tiyanaks who take revenge on their mother, but there are also Tiyanaks (there is a movie about Tiyanaks too) who wants to be with their mothers... And like I cried at this 'cuz the baby just wants their mama... QmQ What's so wrong with hugging it just once so it could be at peace...

Well... What I know about the tyanaks though was different Here? From what the oldies told me... Tyanaks hunts males. (I forgot the reason why... But, tyanaks hate males) So, when the guys (those who goes to mountain or forest to hunt for a living) go hunting. They would wear a dress or female clothes to disguise as a female.

Several stories about tiyanaks, they are babies that were abandoned babies and left to die or aborted by their mothers, Their souls can’t find peace. dr gallaga was inspired from the name of peque(peke) gallaga, a very well known filipino director here in the Philippines, several of those are horror movies. And the ones that made the mark is “shake rattle & roll” series from 1980’s in to late 2000’’s

Yeah, I kinda figured out that Nova was the mom but that scene got me a little anxious because I thought the tiyanak was going to literally crawl back inside her body via her womb. And they were going to show it. So I was genuinely, mildly surprised that she perforated it in the most glorious fashion.
