I’ve had mine for a couple years and I love it. My only issue is the weight. I’m toying with the idea of tearing out the insulation around the ends and seeing how that works. Good review.

I agree, great product but a little bulky. It always comes on short winter trips.

I received mine and love it. Tip 1: Easy solution to the draft from the ends being open. Take the shock cord that is provided, instead of making a loop for connecting to the tree strap, tie one end to the loop then run over or under the end and through the other loop. By having onside on top and the other under and tying the 2 long ends together to go to the tree strap you can get it to seal up the ends a lot better. Tip 2: if you you run a tarp over your hammock with a ridgeline, take a piece of paracord with 2 small carabiners one at each end. Hook it to the ridge line, then when you've zipped up, hook the carabiners to the zipper pulls to keep the cocoon off your face. 1/8 shock cord may be a better option to make sure you don't stress the zipper, but I don't have any lying around

Mine works great, very warm! Ebay 77.00 as of 2019. I did find using inside zipper helps avoid fabric getting caught in it. Also bought snugpak quilt....awesome as well.

. My brother has one of these and truly loves it! Good message on the widow makers, I had just a small branch fall and hit me while doing setup once...I saw stars for a few minutes!! Good review

I've heard the message before, but thought - "what are the odds". Luckily I took heed this time and set up under another tree. Thanks for watching!

I have it on my Amazon wishlist. ..also with the Elite 3 Snugpak sleeping bag! Looks like a great extra layer to use in conjunction with a hammock bag to get down to even colder temps!
@woodlandsnorth6 жыл бұрын
Still love the cocoon! The elite bag looks good as well. Really liking snugpak stuff.

@@woodlandsnorth I may put the Osprey 12 on my wishlist too, a rich uncle might show up! Lol. I spent 3 nights with the Zefabak hammock bag. Found on Amazon and wasnt terrible but zipper failed at 22°. Stitched paracord to survive the night at 1 am. The fleece onesie highly recommended! LOL without that it wouldn't have worked. I like the size of cocoon for added layers

Did they make the improvements?
@woodlandsnorth5 жыл бұрын
From what I can tell, they did. Not sure if there are still the "old style" stock out there.

@@woodlandsnorth Snugpak actually listen & act on complaints/ideas for improvement. They stopped shipping to N. America until they carried out the improvements.

Looks like they have the best design for that theory. Great review and look forward to the field test. Love the forest you are in, aside from the falling branches

I've been looking at that one, but steered clear of it cause of the not so good reviews. . and it's hard to get where i live. I got the snugpak under blanket which is quite a good product. . I got out in it and its ok - but no go for below freezing. . could you tell me if you can manage a side sleeping position (as in fetal position)? I still fancy this cocoon concept in keeping drafts out... thanks for showing!
@woodlandsnorth8 жыл бұрын
I haven't tested that, but I don't see any reason you couldn't. I'll give it a try next time I have it set up. Thanks for watching!

I realize it's not down and I can understand why, but seems like the weight would be a little bit of an issue. But it does look like a pretty cool product. I would like to try one. If that big limb had fell during the night while wrapped up in there that would have scared the "CRAP" out of someone. Haha. Great review. Let us know what you think after a night in it. Tony

Agreed, weight is on the high side but manageable. It scared the "CRAP" out of me just fine during the day! Thanks for watching!

Instead of laying it on the ground, why not lay it in the hammock?
@woodlandsnorth7 жыл бұрын
The hammock needs to go through the cocoon, so it wont easily lay in there. Thanks for watching.
