Have one of these and I love it. Recommend anyone purchashing a snugpak for the first time taking it out in their back yard and practice with it a few time so you get used to the system. Once you have it down it only takes a couple of minutes to get the fly up. One trick, take some orange (or whatever other color you like) and mark one corner of the inner tent and outer fly (on the inside) save a couple of minutes lining it up during set up.

I have used an old Eureka tent, similar to their El Capitan 2, for 10 years or more. It has a frame attached to the tent with a fly to cover. The problem is setting up everything in the rain. The advantage I see with the Snugpak is that you can shelter your gear on the grass without dragging water and mud into the living area right away. Thanks for a great review.
@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
Right...if it's raining you are already wet most likely, the point here is so the inside of your tent is not wet while you setup.

Several years ago, I owned a North-face "Sierra" A Frame Expedition Tent. It was a beautiful Tent which North-face no longer manufactures. I understand the next highet grade was a tent used by Sir Edmund Hillary. It was identical to the Sierra except that it had an opening in the floor in which to have a stove. I purchased the Snugpack Pack Bunker recently. I wanted a small four season tent and look forward to using it. I think I will be happy with the Snugpack but honestly, the Sierra North-Face was a beautiful tent. No exaggeration, I've set that tent up easily on evenings under dark sky when there was a new moon - a bare minimum of lighting. I think I could have set that tent up blindfolded! And it looked beautiful as well!

Awesome video! Considering this tent, after my last tent from Nordisk (Oppland 3) decided to leak the first time it saw rain.... From what I see the Snugpak tents seem much sturdier built. I have one question which isnt super clear from the video. Can you unzip the opaque material from the front door of the inner tent, to make it fully mesh? Mostly asking this because that Nordisk tent had subpar ventilation, and in hotter climates I would have appreciated a bit more ventilation at times. If this tent doesnt have any mesh on the door its probably too closed off for the hot climates. Also, after all these years (8!!), how are you liking the tent after (I assume) a lot of use?

@@livingsurvival How would you say the snugpak holds up in foul weather, now that it's been a few years? I've heard that it's a rather squat tent and can be uncomfortable due to the low ceiling. Have you tried it in summer? Being a 4 season tent, I worry about how hot it might get.
