To be fair, the bar is underground. But they're better than every other buildable unit so far. Twitch: / 7thace

Look it's a bad matchup and they had help and... yeah whoops lol

To compensate for everything else, the protoss should get 1 shield alongside 1 hp. It wouldn't help, but it would be very funny.

Scouts in SC2 Co-op are actually amazing. In SC1, they cost 275 minerals / 125 gas, and do 14 (x2) damage against air and 8 damage against ground. In SC2, they cost 180 minerals / 60 gas, and do 7 (+7 vs Armored) (x2) damage against air and 16 (+16 vs Light) against ground. They get double the ground damage of SC1 scouts, and quadruple against light, for less than half the gas cost!

Do they actually get used in co-op? I know the power level there is much higher.

@@7thAceonly fenix has them. And I think there are better options. The terran version (wraith) is great. Triple damage after moving and evasion.

Fenix can use scouts but not any other protoss commander. They're great but they're outshined by some other units by other commanders in other ways too, not to mention most hybrid are armored ground units. Many coop tier lists for weekly mutations have negative things to say about the anti air capabilities of fenix unless carriers Overall though, scouts dont hold a candle to wraiths when it comes to light fliers that can hit both air and ground.
@shadowarchon796415 күн бұрын
@ On the zombie maps, they're amazing, and just them alone can clear the map on Brutal. As a flyer, they're resistant to some mutations, but it of course depends upon the map and mutation combo. Generally going a mix of Carriers and Scouts, with Mojo and Clolarion lets them easily mop up most maps without mutations.

@@7thAce As others have said, they could be better, but Fenix scouts are pretty good units that are worth their cost and not almost liabilities like in Brood War. They’re one of the fastest ways to shred Dead of Night to oblivion when on the offense thanks to their 32 anti-light damage (+3 per upgrade).

The pulling defenders and reacting to harassment and the like is something I genuinely miss about old RTS AI. It plays following similar rules to the player (even if it gets some leeway at times). Sure, it makes most missions' optimal strat just cheesing their income or production, but feeling like harassment actually matters, and seeing the flow of units around the map take notice when you attack their base, are things that the Warcraft 2 and Starcraft campaigns have that later RTS games just don't. It's another reason challenge runs in these old games always feel so interesting anytime a guerilla Tactics or targeted attack is required. I wish that was at least a difficulty option, though I realize a complete reprogramming of the AI to actually care about their resources instead of spawning free units on timers is probably too big of an ask.

I completely and totally agree with this. SC1 bases, for all their weirdness, feel alive and busy in a lot of ways. It feels dynamic and interesting to look through and push against bases. I'd love for there to be a series of scripts (in SC2) that all handle these AI behaviors. Rotating defenders between and around bases to make a more "zone defense" rather than a "man to man" defense where each unit holds its spot feels much more "human". I have a lot of thoughts about SC1 AI behavior and have considered making some kind of video about it.

It's weird but I think probes are genuinely better than zealots - seems like they're hitscan, and you get two for every one zealot. Maybe zealots with legs are better? Think it would be pretty funny to see a full 200 probe supply army taking out a base though lmao

Worker rush OP.
@danielbrown00114 күн бұрын
@ Ya, only way to beat worker rush would be to proxy a rax in the corner of the map and hope to get out 1 marine before an SCV finds it. But if you do, you can stutter-step to victory. Would be hilarious to watch either way
