I dreaded a breakdown as Aryna can struggle with confidence, but i am so relieved that Aryna kept fighting off those nerves. Her hard work is paying off. Her belief is growing as well it should. Sabalenka has improved so much in the past 2 years. She has learnt how to control her power and add some variety to her game. I was very happy she won. I was so nervous. She and Rybakina are my favorite players on tour. It's a pity Rybakina keep getting injured.

Crowd support both players but definitely more love to Pegula but crowd was fair. Really good match as Pegula broke early and took the lead then won 5 games in a row in second set to serve for the set. If Pegula could push to 3 sets then she can win a Grand Slam. She was so close.

I remember watching WTA in 2022 when Iga dominated and back then no one was taking Sabalenka as a serious constant threat, but something was telling me back then that when she'll fix her head it's gonna be scary. I think it finally happened. And it is scary for the rest of the field.

Not at all the same, iga has won a slam this year. In 2009 serena had 3 slams in the past year and safina had zero slams. In 2024 iga has 1 slam and 4 wta1000, while aryna has 2 slams and 1 wta1000. Its totally not the same

If she maintains this level, although it won't be easy, I believe that in the coming years Sabalenka on the fast courts and Światek on clay and slow courts will be sharing the titles. The fight for number 1 at the end of the season will be interesting. The fight will probably last until the last day of the year.

Great video 👏. Really this final impressed me with the improved mental fortitude of Aryna and adding variety, like drop shots and coming more to the net, she won over 25 points there so that really helped her seal the win. I think people don't really pay attention that she also won two GS on doubles and was number 1 in that modality so I think that helped her a lot to execute shots at the net with confidence and it was more a matter of when to do it during the point. I really thought she was going to flop in the 2nd set and lose it 3-6 but she made great returns at 4-5. Also she has been the most consistent player of the WTA in all 4 GS in the last couple of years.

Actually Serena has achieved the Serena Slam early in her career where she achieved all 4 Grand Slams in a row. I think she's done that once but has achieved many times 3 Slams in a season. Only once she had 4 Slams.

From the wins it is clear that Światek dominates on clay and slow courts and sabelnka on fast courts. And this translates perfectly in slams, we have 3 fast courts in slams and in wta tournaments much more slow. This rivalry with iga has fueled sabelnka, she has improved in ..every element of the gam. Swiatek needs to start adding these game elements because ahe has been basing it on the same thing for 2 years.

Eras/timing has so much to do with it and that’s something nobody has any control over. That fact that Azarenka peaked during one of Serena’s peak eras and these girls as passing her is crazy lol. She’s so much better than what her slam total is on paper. I’m also glad we are getting consistency back on the WTA. It needs the rivalry between top players. Hopefully Sabalenka and Iga can both dominate for a few years. I dont necessarily see coco as a true threat day in and out for big titles at the moment but hopefully it comes soon.

On this year's USO I think from the outset Aryna Sabalenka came in almost as determine to win the title as she did earlier this year at AO. I think it is the aggressive instinct in Sabalenka's game that set her apart from Pegula. I notice a couple of occasions in this match when Pegula had the short balls and instead of being the aggressor she just bunt the ball back, that type of play kind of surrender the initiative to Sabalenka, I think this is sort of defensive mindset that Pegula has with her game. So for Pegula to win she needed to play with a much more aggressive mindset that is out of her comfort zone

Sabalenka always had strong will power. It showed in the final 4 games when she took a certain Pegula’s set win to a championship win. Her emotional response to win reflect her emotional state during the match where she began to feel agitated after a few UE in S1. Unlike her meltdown at last year’s Final, she managed to contain herself to push for a win. Nevertheless, her power hitting was erratic in s2 (which reflects in my view her emotional state) and as you correctly pointed out resulted in some short balls which Pegula failed to capitalise. A good sport psychologist should help her stay more even keeled in matches.

I think Sabalenka will win the most slams because she's good on all surfaces. If she's able to stay healthy there's no reason why she can't achieve a career slam. Most of iga's slams will most likely only come from the French Open as she is not good on grass and a lot of players are learning how to exploit her weaknesses on hard courts.

Good analysis Christian👍 I think Pegula was not offensive enough. She could have leveled up this final to a 3rd set, but because she’s on the defensive most of the time, it gives room for Sabalenka to attack her with her powerful game. Overall, Sabalenka won the match because she’s aggressive game wise, and does not miss opportunities. I think that Pegula will eventually win a slam but she will have to mix her defensive game with way more offensive skills ( first serve and win points at the net).

Sabalenka! I said it before and I will say it again. Grauff won because Sabalenka choked and let the crowd get to her. Time will tell. I feel CoCo is over rated. Coco’s win is the same a person who opponent sprain their ankle and have to retired and the other wins. Oh! What a difference a year makes. In the end Sabo does what she always does, she doubled down and powered her way back, and Jessie finally wilted. But the one who U really feel for is Muchova, she was 1 set up and 2-0 in the second in the semis, then her injuries caught up with her yet again. To me she did not look fully fit even at the start of match and in the end she slowed down too much, this time it look like her hip. As far as Ego goes, I would not hold your breathe, she was terrible at the open and she looks far from being unbeatable as so much of the media have claimed.
