One thing I like about your animatic is that there isn't an overemphasis on tears. In certain animatics of this song, they draw the characters crying constantly: Heidi crying constantly, Evan crying constantly. And while I understand this is an emotional moment and crying is apart of it, I like how you keep it varied and it never feels overwrought.

I get your point, though I think the reason everyone goes Niagara falls here is that not only are those two characters at their most vulnerable and grieving (especially with Evan finally opening up about his suicide attempt [or both suicide attempts if your going off the book]) but also because it's so rare to have a scene where two people just ball their eyes out and to have at least one of them be male, and that they're balling over something that isn't the death of a loved one.

When I looked up "Dear Evan Hansen" to read how it went, the site (it actually had the most important lyrics of the different songs and where the songs showed up), I knew it was gonna be sad. I wasn't expecting this. I started tearing up, but I truly lost it when he said "Is there going to be a truck that takes Mommy away?" Because I know all too well the heartbreaking innocence children posses in their naivety. And that's what hurts so much. Because how do you tell them that? How can you truly explain the harshness of this hellhole world...? How could you break their hearts? It's just.... I've been there... I've been the kid. I had to grow up at a very young age. I learned this world's cruelty far too young. And I felt at fault for my mother never wanting to be around me (I live with her parents -- there is no father figure). It's scarring. It traumatizes you. It changes you. And now I'm going through the same thing with my sister. But I'm trying to keep her sheltered, to keep her safe. To protect her innocence for as long as possible. And it hurts, knowing how harsh the world is, and how she'll never understand. Because she /can't/. She'll forever be stuck in the mindset of a child. So those lyrics hit home with me. This is an absolutely beautiful song, and an even more beautiful animatic, by an even MORE beautiful person. Thank you, so so so much for making this.
