So Bristlefrost might RETURN (Warrior Cats Theory)

A new article posted on the website reveals the plans for two upcoming Super Editions, and of course the only logical path to take from there is plotting a way to bring back my girl Bristlefrost.

Fallen Leaves turned into a ghost after drowning in water, right? Water. Water… Bristle drowned in water… dark water. “Dark river” talks about the tunnels. I don’t think the writers will have enough brains to get all that together, but it would be great if we could have a “beneath the clans” story.

As much as I love Bristlefrost, the sacrifice was a big part of TBC, so by bringing her back, they're unravelling all of that and kind of ruining the mysteriousness of the dark forest. This is just my opinion but tbh whatever warriors posts, I will read.

Exactly. I balled my eyes out when Bristlefrost died. I’ve never cried so much from a book, and if she comes back that means all those tears were for nothing. For once the Erin’s got me attached enough to a character and her life, and relationships, that her death genuinely made me feel depressed for a few days. That’s called GOOD writing. Your readers should feel DEVASTATED when a character dies. Bringing Bristlefrost back ruins all of that. bUt, the fact I cried so much does mean that I will be a little happy to see her again. IF they write it well. I don’t want them to bring her back, but if they do I know I’ll end up smiling.

While I am all for a Bristlefrost Superedition, what I really want is an Ashfur superedition. I don't want Ashfur to come back, he already did that once, what I want is a super edition about how he caused all the problems in Starclan in The Broken Code. And since Bristfrost's and Ashfur's deaths are connected, that would still leave room for a Bristlefrost superedition.

Though I do agree an Ashfur super edition would be nice, there would be nothing new to share. We’ve seen all of his youth and warrior hood, we’ve seen how his obsession over Squilf had grown, and in the prologue/ first chapter of one of the book after Ashfur’s identity was revealed, he explains himself how he did everything he’d done.

@@zoethelynx_625@ zoethelynx_625 Yes, and I agree that there would be nothing to tell about Ashfur before he died, but the book would be a good opportunity for us to learn more about how Starclan works. Besides that, we only got a summary of how Ashfur trapped Starclan, I think it would be interesting to hear about it in more detail. It would also be cool to read about Ashfur's trial that got him accepted into Starclan since we also don't know much about that beyond what Yellowfang said (that he loved too much).

As much as I love Bristlefrost, I dont want her to return after getting a permadeath. But the weird thing about hers was that her mortal body disappeared alongside it, which didnt happen from that one WindClan (I think) cat who died during Dark Forest training. But that could possibly support Akira's theory of her being in an alternate/parallel universe. Remember when the craziest thing about Warriors used to be a leader losing multiple lives at once?

This happen before with cat dying in the dark forest and went missing. Beetlewhisker from Riverclan went missing after death. Some of the cats killed by the kin as well disappeared as well. Only some victims were found when Tree contacted them, so I am interested to see if we get anyone back from there as well. This could also lead to a villain introduction or return if The Erins are planning on it.

Yea, willowshine died momments before entering the dark forest. Which is why her body didn't disappear like you said. But if I remember correctly, Spiresight wasn't mentioned being able to see her, and neither was Tree or Rootspring. So if she does comeback, there's going to be a lot of controversy and I wonder how the Erin's will portray it.

Well, Antpelt woke up and died days later. Beetlewhisker died IN the Dark Forest, so he disappeared. Willowshine died before entering because (What I guess is most likely) Ashfur sensed her coming since she was trying to connect with a dead Clanmate. I'm not sure how he killed her though... When cats went into the Dark Forest it's said their's spirits go, not their bodies. But that was fading, which is why cats got hurt/died. The whole thing with OotS was that the Dark Forest couldn't connect like that anymore, so I'm only guessing that when Ashfur upset the balance, the worlds got close like that again, but not as close, which is how Dark Forest cats couldn't cross but living cats died.

I always headcannoned that faded cats become the 'gods' who create the prophecies, which are then recieved by StarClan and relayed to the Clans. I got this theory when I read about the connections between Rock, Midnight, the ancient cats and StarClan

Why have her drown in the instant death water if she wasn't going to STAY dead? Secondly, if they brought her back, who's to say they won't try to bring other double dead cats back?

I'll be honest.. Bristlefrost's sacrifice was necessary, yes, but i think, bringing someone back, from the “second death” [spirit death] would be good, a drama in that, together with mystery would be actually pretty good, instead of a book about alive cats we could get a full book with the afterlife, not just starclan, Darkforest, other residences. I really hope they would do something like that, imma just live in my world where this happens.

Imo, Bristlefrost dying was a *HUGE* part of TBC. If they were going to bring her back they would need to have some sort of conflict or problem going on with Ashfur or the Darkforest or her whole entire sacrifice is literally worthless. Here is one plot I could imagine happening: Bristlefrost is *somehow* brought back or something, but, with the new problem that they face she would have to stay in the dark waters forever or be cursed to stay in the dark forest. She wouldn't ever be able to go back to star clan because she has the problem similar to Shadowsight where she has too much darkness in her. It would still be a sacrifice in a way, where she is destined to eternal suffering in the dark waters. OR, she could be similar to Juniperclaw and she could protect the dark forest from its troubles or problems so the whole entire Ashfur thing doesn't happen again. One more thing that could be *possibly* put into the books is Rootspring or Shadowsight somehow seeing another version of themselves (the ones where Root and Bristle actually get together and what-not,) and seeing Bristfrost alive in *that* story. But I still doubt they would bring her back since it wouldn't make sense to just kill her off and pull a Firestar and Hollyleaf thing where they died and just *magically* came back into the books. But again, this is my opinion.

One issue I see (setting aside that I agree this would completely ruin ALITM'semotional impact) is Brsitlefrost's body. There is one other example of a living cat being faded right away: Beetlewhisker (who was murdered by Brokenstar), after he died we know from Dovewing's perspective that RiverClan couldn't find his body, implying it vanished when he died. And since Bristlefrost's body vanished too (and also judging by Ivypool recognizing what it means) I just can't buy that she didn't die, and retconning it to that she didn't would IMO be a horrible decision. Edit: I do agree that the next SE will be Ivypool, but my theory for what "revising" means is that the original story would have taken place right after ALITM.

I really, really hope Briss doesn’t come back! She’s honestly my favourite protagonist and I think she’s great, but that sacrifice is part of what makes me love her so much. Her final chapter was utterly heartbreaking. For all that to be retconned would be a HUGE waste of the emotion and importance they put into that scene. Please, Bristlefrost. STAY DEAD!

Maybe perma-dead cats is the explanation for reincarnation. I.e. dead cats that were killed in star clan or the dark forest, bristle frost and ashfur can all be brought back into different situations and clans which I think would make for some interesting stories. Maybe we could get a tigerstar I doppelgänger who is good, and doesn’t have daddy issues, or an ashfur who learns to accept rejection and find true love, a spottedleaf who’s actually well-written… maybe it explains how dove, lion, jay were reincarnated centuries later, their spirits would have to have died in whatever afterlife they were in.

Bristlefrost returning gives me pause, but your theory is very fun! You suggested Bristlefrost is in another realm, but what if the whole "she's gone" stuff means she went poof and isn't anywhere, but because she wasn't destroyed, she can technically come back from it? I know that's far-fetched. I guess I'm thinking of Madeleine L'engle's book Many Waters, which has unicorns that only sometimes exist--when they disappear, they're not in another realm or dimension, they just don't exist.

Well, I hope she doesn't go back to living in the Clans, but instead has her own mission to make it to StarClan. This would probably be the best thing, and then when Rootspring dies they'll be together. (But alas, this is the Erin's choice.)

Honestly, I seriously hope they don’t end up doing this. I love bristlefrost but her death was so impactful and devastating that I hope they wouldn’t just take it back. Sure, the RootBristle scene would be adorable in starclan, but it’s not worth it to mess up the lore. Part of the reason bristlefrost is a great character is she sacrificed herself, and now I feel we would have a love-stricken kitty running from ultimate death to her boyfriend kind of bris

I know that, however sad it may be, the double death two strikes your out thing is a very important concept in these lovely cat books and to try and bring back a portion of such cats would be sort of unproductive in investing us in the newer characters and storyline, but like why Bristlefrost-? I knew her death was coming but it still made me cry. Its just truly tragic to think that a young cat such as her would have been cheated of not one, but two lifetimes at once. Not to mention poor Rootspring and Ivypool. For really old characters such as spottedleaf and tigerstar who double died naturally, i think its best for the series if they stay double dead because if i hear one more word about the broad shoulders and the sweet scent, im gonna go set fire to my bookshelf. However, I think Bristlefrost should be brought back. Another thing that could support the theory is the very fact that her body just completely vanished in the living world. If her spirit died, why would her body disappear. Did that mean Spottedleafs grave just poofed out of existance when she double died? What about Tigerstar? Hawkfrost? I dont think so. So i think its possible that she rejoined with her body in the fancy new realm mentioned in the video, which would hypothetically be just as crazy, but it wouldnt be out of pocket for warrior cats. ALSO those saying that her sacriface would then be deemed pointless, it really wouldnt. Noone knew what truly happened beyond the depths of the dark water. Bristlefrost and absolutely everyone else knew that she was taking a risk beyond any of their comprehension. If she lived, they would honor her the same just for having the courage to take that risk, leaping headfirst into the unknown to save Shadowsight and everyone else. And who cares about glory when she can keep her life, Ivypool and Rootspring sure don't!

Im almost certain there’s multiple trapped spirits in the tunnels. It’s specified all the cats who died there stay trapped there, not to mention there’s portals in the tunnels too, only accessible by cats with certain powers (Jayfeather and rock) There’s gotta be something there because there’s no explanation as to why they stay trapped there once they die. The books never explain rock either, or the threes powers. I hope these new books somehow connect the “dark water” or emptiness left from the fading dark forest to the “dark river” in the tunnels. Maybe the tunnels represent the collapsed religion of the ancients like the fading dark forests represents the collapsing religion/ beliefs of the clans, it leaves some sort of gaping emptiness. Both seem to trap spirits. Perhaps cats stayed in the tunnels because at the time there was no starclan or tribe of endless hunting to go to, which is also unsettling but not nearly as interesting. What do you think?

Ok but hear me out- we DO have another, often forgotten afterlife- the afterlife of the tribe cats. Its similar to starclan bit distinct, other cats from the clan have interacted with it- and its heavily associated with mists and running water and being under the earth in a non "hellish" kind of way. If she fell *through* water into anywhere, that would make rhe most sense to me. And maybe give the story a chance to show the teibe cats some love without making them a lesser version of the clans. Idk, i just think it would be interesting if she had a Persephone like journey through AN underworld that's not evil just very different, and came out enlightened. (Or evil. I would also take Lich Queen Bristlefrost) It would also be just, society shattering i think. And the clan society needs that still. The code changes arent enough.

Im probably being stupid but- Bristlefrost apparently didnt come back becuase if you die in the dark forest, you dont come back But when apprentices and warriors were training in the dark forest for the great battle (i think it was that one) i believe a cat called AntPelt died. SO WHY DIDNT SHE COME BACK.

I really hope they keep her dead, but an explanation as to why spirits seem to stay trapped in certain places has been left unexplained since the power of three. Maybe they’ll connect the “dark water,” essentially gaping emptiness of what’s faded from the dark forest, to the “dark river” under the tunnels. Both trap spirits within them. Both represent collapsing religions and old, forgotten beliefs. The tunnels might have portals within them only accessible to certain cats if it’s not just an anomaly of jays powers. Ashfur was able to find portals and rips in Both starclan and the dark forest. It’s possible spirits stay trapped in the tunnels because at the time there was no starclan or tribe of endless hunting until Jayfeather creates at least one of them. It’s equally as unsettling, but not nearly as interesting.

Sorry, be for a bad spelling, but I have to do this 😅 ( contact when I talk about a blood splatter across her face, it's referring to the fact that her mother was slaughtered by the dogs. The blood ended up on her face. Not grooming herself for 3 days caused it to be permanent.) Dark sludge enclosed the walls, Almost like tangled up vines. She attempted to step forward " what have i done? " she questioned herself. Her eyes were watering and she looked up. Her Paw straining against what felt like the world sharp nails pressing down. Frostpaw suddenly jolted her body, straining against everything. She had done with starclan had asked, why punish me? All reddish stain that marked her face turned darker and darker. Implicating death. What have you done? A voice echoed in her ear, She turned to see a silver cat. scars marking her body. Before she was slightly pulled up, no, don't leave me here! she desperately cried, but it was already done. Her words echoed in her mind over and over again, causing pain her muscles tensed somehow more than down to her pelt making her look half her size. And then she understood. One life for another revival has its complications and consequences... BristleFrost revival. Prologue Her body screamed in pain,But she did not move against it. And she was dragged up by some unknown force. Soon she was on ground, her Paws swayed a bit. She turned her head blinking her eyes. Her fur was almost black now, stained if she tried to recall what happened. I know is cringey, but I'm not finishing it :(. I give up. Sorry, I'm reading the revival book from Stephen King XD. (I'm not proof reading>:[ )

I would actually love it more if the first book was Ashfur's perspective in starclan- how he did all that he did, leading up to Bramble's death, and then the second book was Bramblestar's perspective as a ghost i think those would be such fun POVs to experience- I know that's not whats going to happen, I just think regardless of what's going to happen, that would have been a cool way to go instead haha I really dont want Bris to come back, I think it would lessen the impact of her death n all

the first book can't be Ashfur's pov. It takes place during A starless clan, that's already confirmed. So unless they brought him back from the double death, he can't be a pov in the next super.

I really want the Beneath the Clans to be where 'gone' cats, kitty-pets, or just clan cats that never did much will go. Sort of like the Fields of Asphodel in Greek myths. Basically, it's an area that some cats are after they die. It isn't a bad place though. It's not very comfortable but the cats usually make friends, learn about the past of the clans using the tunnel time travel or just spend their afterlife there. Some have grown bitter and hidden themselves deeper into the tunnels. Although, I don't want to see Bristlefrost return by coming back to life but to have her in Starclan.

i think bristlefrost's character could be explored in a tasteful way which respects her character up to her sacrifice, but i think it'd be hard to do and idk if the team would be able to pull it off. but it seems they really care about her character, so it's possible

If they bringher back, they should have her "corrupted" or something. Like how those movies of a dead loved one being "different" after they've been revived and going on a killing spree. That would be a good way to thin out ThunderClan, give a murder mystery, AND mess with the morals of reliving the dead in whatever way they decide to do. Like, Rootspring brings her back and moves to ThunderClan with her. She acts off but kind at first as mysterious deaths begin. As the bodies pike up, she slowly turn cruel and vicious. Root and Ivy talk and reize all the dead cats had supported Imposter Bramblestar, leading to 2 main suspects, Spotfur and Lionblaze. Lionblaze being super aggressive in TBC would somehow make him make sense to them and Spotfur had lost her mate, so they think Bristle coming could make something in Spot snap. When there are enough red herrings that, to Ivy and Root at least, its a huge surprise when it's revealed that Bristle is the killer. The fght and in a moment of remembering her old self, she begs them to kill her and stop her from hurting anyone else. Maybe this hapens over such a length of time that Root and Bristle have kits, maybe its fast. Either way, in the end, she's dead again and the entire story lasted 2 super editions. SE 17, Ivy and Root bring Bristle back and the first murder happens at the end of the book. SE 18, they story continues as they work together to solve the murders and stop Bristle. I know they won't do this, but it would be cool if they did.

What if sleekwhisker is the main character of super edition 17 but she feels guilty and she helps bring back bristlefrost back in super edition 18. Sleekwhisker’s guilt and ivypool’s grief. The cats who I think should find her are jayfeather, puddleshine, sleekwhisker, shadowsight, ivypool and rootspring.

We have recently seen starclan making some bad choices with letting ashfur into starclan so what if they did that before and trusted the wrong cat and let a bad kitty into starclan instead of snowtuft? Bristlefrost should emerge from a lake or bond in one of the former lands that the clans used to exist in, she should have to go on an adventure to find her way home with the help of other cats she meets, maybe kitty pets or rouges that may still be alive or have heard the stories of the clans along with maybe the help of 1 or 2 of the starclan cats who assist her on finding her way back to the current clans to reunite with Root and the others of the clans. Learning not only about life outside the clan on her adventure but also learning new skills and friendships that could be touched on in future stories. She could later have kits with Root and live out the dream they shared in her final memory and pass along the stories of her adventure to not only her kits but the other generations that exist and will come. To ret con her death it can be made that since she wasn't dead when she faded(unlike spotted, ash, maple, etc who were spirits) that her last memory as well as the love she felt for Root and the life she didn't get to live kept her solid enough that it brought her to a new unknown area(new to her). Somewhat like that way Squilf came back because of her love for Bramble(ew, die already Bramble, we don't need you)
