I love these in-depth reviews you guys put out. I find it super interesting when you analyse story structure, and setups and payoffs. Did either of you give Into the Spiderverse a watch? Would be great to hear what you both thought. Cheers guys!

We did indeed, gave a quick summary in this week's podcast - but we might do a commentary if time permits soon-ish

Good to have you guys back! You guys going to see Shazam and weigh in on it? I caught an early screening and there's a moment (not kidding) a moment that is straight out of your Green Lantern video. Clearly someone's been paying attention to you guys, as well they should, and I think Shazam was awesome. Still, wanna hear what you guys thought! Also if you can spot what reference to your vid I meant

One of us has, and gives a quick near-non-spoiler review in this week's upcoming podcast. SPOILER: Didn't want to toot my own horn about what they did right with character's though! My guess is how they had Billy inspire the other kids, share the word, and then split up the monsters? Also, Mark Strong proving you can bounce back from a bad DC villain role!

@@RantandBollox ....oh yeah that too. Actually I was mentioning something else SPOILERS When Shazam gets knocked into the game hut where the dad and daughter are, and he hands the kid a stuffed animal. It reminded me of how you guys mentioned that in Green Lantern (8:00 into your vid just for those of you reading this who might/should check it out) That Hal should make a Teddy Bear or a loved one to inspire the people not to feel fear. Shazam got that. And built on that with the other moments that make it just so damn good.

Took my kids to see it on Friday. My son is 10, my daughter is 8. This is relevant. For me the movie as a whole is lack luster, mainly because Carol doesn’t grow. She should have been an arse at the start, then find out she’s on the wrong side as her memory returned and blah blah marvel secret sauce. But. Ever since my kids have been able to walk I have consistently said “When we fall down, what do we do?” And the kids say “We get back up again.” This ties in perfectly with the movie and, for my daughter especially, that part of the film really struck a chord. So in my house, at least, it will remain an ok movie on the screen, but in our minds it’ll be a classic I’ll never not enjoy. And we have a ginger tabby, so that works, too.

Part of the charm of cinema(art) in general, we all come at it with our own equally valid history. Glad it resonated for the little lady (and the family)!

All valid points made. I thought as a first outing, it was fine, not quite Black Panther but definitely not Thor: The Dark World either. It's a lower tier solo movie, reminded me a lot of the phase 1 movies. They tried to tell a different kind of origin story but it backfired, but I feel if they had told it in a more linear style, people still would've complained, so they was damned either way. I still would've preferred a Ronan fight at the end, as he has super strength, durability and energy projection powers too. All the actor were fine, I blame the inexperienced directors if anything. Remember Thor only got really good until the 3rd one, so I have faith in the studio as a whole learning from their mistakes. Keep up the good work, appreciating the more consistent output 👌🏾

I find everything that “Plank” Larson is in takes away from the entire project. She was “Captain Larson”…she has the same irritating look and attitude in all of her “performances”. It would be really nice if she did some acting!!! I’m so tired of “Infallible Girl Power”…even in fantasy movies, there has to be some believability!!!
