This great review, along with your enthusiastic belief in finding [at least some] good in every movie, reminds me of critic Wilfrid Sheed, who once wrote that “no film is ever so bad that you can’t find some virtue in it”. After Otto Preminger’s "Hurry Sundown" was released in 1967, fellow critic Rex Reed reminded Sheed of this statement, suggesting he must not have seen "Hurry Sundown". In response, Sheed simply remarked that “to criticize it would be like tripping a dwarf.”

I hate how they are now turning the DC and Marvel bad guys into movies. These characters where never designed to stand on their own and they have no purpose except to have colorful campy bad guys for super heroes... instead of boring "normal" bad guys. In other words these companies have run out of ideas and interesting super heroes so they are now scraping the barrel for anything in their inventory to expand their "universe" and make more money.

Sometimes I think so. Revenge against Marvel or somesuch. The Netflix Daredevil showrunner had started working on the Sinister Six idea...the current Sony product is without any overall good creator control. The producers treat them worse than the old comic book movies. I remember Red Letter Media accusing Adam Sandler of deliberately making bad movies as a scam, and that's what the Sony movies feel like. Spiderverse squeaked by because it was a cartoon and under the radar.
