Constructive Critique , The voices are low volume. The music blasts me away. I love the story and know you will succeed. When filming outside, the wind drowns out all narration. What ever microphone you use need a foam cover (a sock of something to cut down the wind noise. Tell him to speak louder, Your voice comes in a lot clearer. I hope you don't think I a tearing you down, I enjoy your videos very much. Everybody dreams about doing what you guys did, but most of us lack the courage to try it.

Just a suggestion.....Where the pipe comes in the floor from the solar panels....you need to plug that hole with steel wool or spray foam so no mice, snakes, or bugs can crawl in to that space. Loving this series! Having lived in Texas I know how windy it can be. Seems like with all that wind you would consider turbines. Lots of DIY-able designs out there on the interwebs. Also I can't believe your barn roof is almost aligned south and you didn't use that to start. It also would ave provided a heat break for the roof as well as protection from driving rains.

I don’t know exactly where y’all are in Texas but I’ve spent a lot of time in northern Texas as well, and, yes, the wind can be crazy!! Just found your channel the other day and I’m watching one episode after the other! Loving it!

Love the progress , you guys are doing a great job. Just a suggestion , I would put something on the roof to make sure it does leak when it rains. I would hate to see all that hard work on the battery setup get wet. They have that roof far in a few different colors. That would also help dissipate the heat from the sun. They also have that product called Flex Seal in gallon cans now. I heard that works good. Good Luck guys

really enjoying the series! So I'm not watching these vids in any particular order, I think I watched the latest one first. But I noticed all the cattle roaming around. Have you considered using the cow poo to compost/generate methane? Of course you would have to come up with a collection/compression system, but methane could be very useful for off grid living. Sorry, sometimes I just can't help myself.

I am enjoying your videos so much! I listen to them in the evening as I wind down and everyone else is in bed. Would you please adjust the music volume, lower it until it matches the volume of your voices. That way there’s no need to constantly adjust the volume up down up down through your videos. It’s too late for this one, but could you please do this as you record moving forward? It reminds me of how commercials on TV blast much louder than the TV program. Is there a lighting arrester at the combiner box to keep the charge controller/inverter from being Fried? AltE sells them if you haven't gotten one yet. Texas gets some pretty nasty lightning storms! I've had my Schneider setup for a little over a year, works great with no problems. You might want to get the comm box for the inverter and mppt controller, provides some nice stats on the system as a whole.

Hi Spencer and Mackenzie, I love your channel. I am going off grid in about 2 to 3 years (still need to save a few more dollars). I have to be honest, I am nowhere near as confident as Spence is to install your own panels and batteries. If I hire an electrician, what kind of electrician would I look for? I want to buy all my hardware but I don't even want to challenge myself to instill it because I don't know the difference between series or parallels or inverters or how to read a control panel of energy used or using. I would be in your debt for any advice. Thank you and again, love your channel. I can't wait to see you end project. P.s. Where did you buy your containers and if I may ask, how much were they each?

@petematos84923 жыл бұрын
How many batteries did you use? I am trying to go off grid and I use 1000kwh monthly. So I'm trying to figure out how many batteries I will need as a backup,and since I live in no mans land in Pennsylvania I have gone with a hybrid system (Wind and solar) so that in the winter time I also have power going into my system. So,how many batteries do you have in your battery bank?

What did u set the max charge voltage to. I beleive they are 63 v max voltage i probably wouldnt go over 60v to give yourself some safety buffer on overcharging them. What is your inverter cut off voltage? Im thinking shut off should be 50 volts. This way each cell should see no less the ln 3.3v and no more then 4v. Normal max V per cell is 4.2v and minimum is 3.0v. Bit if they are not perfectly balanced while most are 3.3v one or 2 cells could be 2.9 causing damage. Im building a lithium backup power now with fiat 500e bateries and if your not using a bms like batrium its worth only using 70% of your batteries capacity to keep em safe. Eventually ill add panels and wind turbines. But now just a 20hr battery back up is enouph to keep me happy.
