The mindset is more important to get the title if you are hesitant to say you outplayed your opponent how can you get out of the negativity that you were not able to convert the game. That will crush your confidence and you can lose the rest of the games so I think gukesh should be confident.

On the journalist asking a question you covered in recap: sometimes a journalist needs to ask obvious questions just to get on record the words of the actual person involved. I'm sure he knows the answer, but he wants a quote from Ding he can put in his article later. His editor isn't paying him for his opinions, but to gather news and write about it. Same with the guy who asked about b5. Again, the question might infuriate you as a GM level player, but most of the audience aren't and may wonder about it. All your explanation about trying to avoid being drawn into your opponent's prep is exactly the answer the journalist wants Ding to give. It doesn't matter how obvious it is to you; it's not obvious to everyone and even if it is, it's still worth asking to get it as a quote from the player. You have to remember that GMs don't form most of the audience watching this.

I don't think Magnus will 10/10 if he plays the game. It's easy to say and make these comments, and while Magnus is arguably the best player it is not like he is unbeatable. He has been beaten many times in the past and will continue to be, so making very strong statements keeping Magnus' name is best avoided, although I get the point that is being made.

The 2016 championship is a good example. Magnus, rated 2850, has to push for a win in game 10 just to force tiebreaks

This is the last video I'll be watching till the tournament ends. Hikaru's attempt to downplay Gukesh,and lift Ding is so open for everyone to see. Looks like Hikaru is still sour after losing to Gukesh at the Candidates.

Give the guys a break. Ding is a world champion and Gukesh has already proved himself by winning the candidates.

What are you doing after the games before you go to bed? Answer: Usually relaxing and having dinner, then i might hit the strip club for a little bit, a couple whiskey shots, maybe a little gambling....... Like wtf kind of question is this?

I really believe the over optimistic comments by Gukesh are part of the plan from team Gukesh and he has been instructed to be a certain way to apply psychological pressure on Ding!

Hikaru has unbelievable hair considering he is almost 40. I would love to see his hair routine.

I am new to chess but this one of my huge turn offs while watching chess. The commentators often use stockfish to analyze games in realtime and speak in extremes. They see the bar jump in the middle game and speak as if its over or someone made a huge mistake. I just dont see those instances as accurate because, like hiki said, were hoomans.

Engines should basically be taken out of professional commentary. Just spoils the whole thing. (Ok, maybe sometimes check it to see what's what, but super sparingly)
@stanleywang852419 күн бұрын
The problem is that even the pros do not understand the reasons behind some engine moves. If the pros cannot explain the engine moves then they should not show them so that the audience is not disappointed.
@Deditio19 күн бұрын
@@stanleywang8524 Most engine moves can be understood even by non master players but it requires players to play through various lines which makes it messy for use in commentating. It's more interesting and more educational not having constant engine analysis which kills many instructional things strong GMs might say
@stanleywang852419 күн бұрын
@@Deditio So what are you saying is that the engine lines often look too far ahead to be mentioned in a commentary which I agree. However, for someone like Magnus who is really strong, he can play almost like the engine. Magnus can rationalize the decision behind his move over the board and will be able to explain (hopefully fairly succinctly) in a commentary. Preparing a good commentary based on engine line will take time and I think part of the problem is that the commentators do not have sufficient time to study the engine lines before giving commentary.

hikaru, gukesh and any indian player never come ego on there way, it is too inherent in us, so gukesh not have ego or something, he is tired and looking to make opportunity in next day and thinking about to be calm and do something rest and talk to team, i think gukesh dont care about statement or anything when gukesh was favourite, he say i dont care , i will try 100% to give by fight and now also he says i dont care, i will give my 100% FIGHT, so he literally dont care not means in ego, maybe as indian it is normal to explain things in that way that i dont care about this thing, in america maybe you think it's ego. And i think it's too early to say gukesh gonna lose, or ding gonna lose, i will say that it's world championship matches and those who are saying that this is not the level of this championship, just stay away from it, if two are qualified and sitting in fide offical chair of clashes, with fighting in 50+ matches, tournament, candidates and other dont get near it, so keep quiet and focus on games. I dont know all these non sense come from. If bobby fisher playing right now, same people will troll him also, so it's so unfair in today's world to say or do anything. Hope gukesh dont care about anything and focus on everything around point

Can we discuss Ding issue? I sent you a direct message on Instagram. I get it that you may not want Ding to win, but I think if Ding is to lose this, he should lose fairly not because of a psychological issue. So while I understand your reasoning I think you guys take this the wrong way. So I will come with evidence on Ding issue so we can bring awareness to this problem.
